  1. Here is a cover shot of one of Richard Carroll's model on Car Model Magazine from 1970. Richard wrote a number of articles for Car Model mag back in the day. He was scratchbuilding with brass and casting his one parts long before most of us were even thinking about it. He eventually moved away from using plastic completely and lost interest in the model car hobby. He lived in Massachusetts and the MassCar Model Club tried to get him to display at our shows but he wasn't interested in participating at all. Kinda sad really - he was a major force in the hobby in the early days but most builders have never even heard of him. I have a set of his tires. I keep thinking I should sell them because I really don't have any idea what I would do with them, but I can't bring myself to actually put them up for sale. Here is a link to the Car Model mag with an article from him on building a dragster style front end out of brass. http://www.modelencyclopedia.com/magazines.php?MagId=127
  2. Don't worry Greg, some of us remember what this is and why it was called that.

  4. Very nice, and very cool.
  5. Hi Gregg, I've been here for about three years, not as active as some others. Like your mag, you're doing a great job with it.
  6. Bruce, It's only available by ordering online right now. It's on Magcloud, which is a part of Hewlett-Packard. You order a copy and they print one and mail it to you. http://www.magcloud.com/browse/magazine/119726 You can purchase it as a hard copy or as a digital PDF file or both.
  7. I think it's great, but I'm biased, I've written articles for him. The editor is Roy Sorenson, who used to publish a magazine called "Plastic Fanatic". Roy sold "Plastic Fanatic" to a guy named Gregg Hutchings, and Gregg changed the name to Model Cars Magazine, which is where this forum is based. Roy was also one of the co-founders of the Western NNL in California.
  8. I'm digging these models of your's Harry. Very cool stuff.
  9. I don't like the big wheels in general, but you're right; they do look pretty good on this car. Nice job.
  10. No pix from USPS yet Harry, they come out in February as part of the "America On the Move" series that the USPS has been doing since around 2005. Here's what on the list: 1966 Pontiac GTO 1967 Shelby GT 500 1969 Dodge Charger 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle
  11. This is going to be great. Can't wait to see it finished.
  12. Nice, it's on my Bucket List too because of the photo of it on the cover of "We Were The Ramchargers" book.
  13. That's why we nicknamed R&R VacuumCraft "R&R VacuumCrap"
  14. Awesome build. I'm building one of these myself as a flipnose with a 409. This is a great inspiration.
  15. Gary was never the most dependable guy Harry.
  16. Tim, I heard it on another forum. It wasn't clear if Model King was going to do other versions, or if Round2 would do other versions. But it was definitely said that we will see "many more of these with different decals and box art" and the source was reliable.
  17. Any truth to the rumors that MK is doing some special editions with the Young American kit?
  18. This could be cool... http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/30/tech/innovation/staples-3-d-printing/index.html?hpt=hp_c3
  19. This is the engine I built for a replica of The Ramcharger's High & Mighty. The intake and the exhaust are both scratchbuilt. Here is the interior that I built for the High & Mighty, all scratchbuilt except for the pedals, shifter and belt buckles.
  20. Whatever it is, it's UGLY.
  21. Pix not showing Harry.
  22. The MPC 1933 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery that got turned into the Barnabas Van.
