  1. After carefully shopping for a new vehicle, washer, dryer, refrigerator, dish washer, etc. and making your choice by yourself or with the help of a salesperson, or reviews from the internet or elsewhere. Then the salesperson wants you to buy a warranty or an extended warranty. By doing so, you are making a money bet that your choice of the item you just purchased is going to break down. That is what's known as gambling and the store should have a casino license to sell you a warranty, because they are betting that your purchase will not break down. Capisce?
  2. Maybe it was time to buy a new refrigerator Harry, instead of putting money into the one you have. Or was that out of the question?
  3. VERY nice builds Ken, but three of the four are what they call "pony cars."
  4. Speed City Resins already does a '66 Dodge Dart.
  5. Congrats & good luck!
  6. I don't watch modern drag racing at the strip or on TV as it's VERY boring. I watched and raced cars back in the 60's when it was part of the "Golden Years" of drag racing when hard work and innovation was important, and anybody could partake in racing, even with their grandmothers car. Not like these "high dollar" cookie cutter cars that are racing today. Last weekend there was "vintage" drag racing at a strip I used to race at, and they had over 500 cars registered from all over the country. I believe the cars had to be 1966 and older and had to have "period correct" wheels as well. It was a blast from the past, and there were gassers galore. I'm sure glad I was there.
  7. Welcome to the forum Old Dragger as this is a great place to be, and yes your pictures are awesome. Thanks.
  8. You could be dehydrated too Charlie, especially this time of year with the heat. I always drink several glasses of water in the evening before bed to avoid such problems. Which one Nick? A friend of mine posted some pics on Facebook from the Market Square show in Lake Forest. The cruise night was in downtown Wauconda on Main street and surrounding areas. LOTs of cars, spectators, places to eat, and DQ (Dairy Queen) afterwards.
  9. I belong to a union, and when I was working, getting my paycheck late wasn't tolerated by the union for ANY reason. We got paid every week and on time. One company I worked for wanted to pay us every other week, and the union said NO.
  10. Welcome to the forum Jeff, as this is a great place to be. I too am a dinosaur, so you're not alone.
  11. Also keep in mind that you may or may not need, more than one new Xacto blade.
  12. While we've had many Wilys kits over the years, how 'bout a stock Willys???
  13. I'm with you Kevin, as I got out early this morning and did some tree & bush trimming, as this place was startin' to look like a jungle.
  14. If Moebius could take a five year break, I could catch up on building some of my kits. LOL!
  15. Yes Richard it is pleasing as I know where you're comin' from, in fact I was able to shoot another coat on a current project the other day. Last week I had to stop painting because of the high humidity.
  16. A nice H.O. layout can be made on a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood, and of course a larger area would be even better yet. When I built mine back in the 60's that's all I had room for, and I was lucky at that.
  17. Yes Joe it was really nice last night as I and a few of my friends did a cruise night yesterday and the place was "packed." I heard they had 'bout 450 cars at that event. People are tired of the rain and when it's dry, out comes their rides.
  18. It's a lot more than internet competition these days that closes hobby shops. They're a lot fewer hobbyist now than there were back in the 60's, due to a lot of things including TV/computer gaming, more sport activities, facebook, etc. and also the very high cost of operating a brick & mortar hobby shop are big factors in the downhill slide of the hobby shops we used to enjoy back in the 50's & 60's.
  19. Lookin' good Steve, as I hope to build mine someday.
  20. I had an "easy day" today as I worked on my models a bit, pulled out some weeds, grilled some burgers, and played with my grandson. I'm pleased.
  21. Real nice build on that Willys John as I'm a huge gasser fan, and was at a large gasser meet this past Saturday with 400+ cars.
  22. For the past 21 years I've been using a spare bedroom for my den/hobby room and it's been workin' out great. I also do my reading and TV watching in this room besides building models. I have all my tools in a desk drawer and can have them out or put away in 5 minutes or less. I'm having trouble posting pictures on this forum, so no pics at this time sorry.
  23. VERY nice Cesar, and I just love dem Mopars!
  24. I usually shake the can to mix the paint, I then put it in a pot of warm water, cover it with a towel for 'bout six minutes. I remove the can, dry it, shake it again, and then spray. I wait 15 minutes, put more warm water in the pot for 6 minutes, etc. This seems to work for me as I've been doing this for several years now. The can is already "under pressure" when you buy it, so shaking it won't increase the pressure but it will mix the paint.
