  1. Very nice build on that 'Vette. I may have one of those kits in my "stash."
  2. Tom, face it as the "brick & mortar" hobby shops are a losing proposition in today's times. We are lucky to have the ones that are still open and should support them, because if we don't, we'll be the losers. You can apply all the business strategy and experience you have, but that's not going to change anything. If you think that it will, then you open up your own hobby shop, and be sure to kiss your money "good by" before you invest in your hobby shop.
  3. I'm thinkin' that they are custom parts from an AMT Pontiac kit???
  4. Oops, I stand to be corrected as Ace is right. It is the Spaulding Flamethrower.
  5. Yes part # 20 is a magneto, and part # 12 would be the distributor.
  6. Some things are not meant to be...................................................
  7. I don't have the space to store a ton of model kits, yet alone empty model boxes. So no, I don't save them as they go in the recycling bin when I complete the model kit.
  8. I didn't get a permit, but I did get a union electrician to wire up mine with underground piping, GFI breaker, disconnect box, etc. and had no inspection afterwards, and no problems for the twelve years I kept the tub.
  9. Nice job on that Charger Bill, real nice as I'm a fan of the F & F movies and I just love dem Mopars!
  10. I'm still usin' two tin cans and a string, however I don't get many calls.
  11. Thanks Brett, as I'll have to get 'em, as an Xacto blade doesn't cut it.
  12. The way it was 40 years ago? Try 50 - 60 years ago young man.
  13. Anybody have and use cutters/scissors for photo etched parts by Xuron, and are they worth having? TIA
  14. Of course they'll be missed, but this has been happening for a few years now with many hobby shops going down this road. Plastic model building, scale railroading, and R/C is not what it used to be, as times are changin' whether we like it or not.
  15. Welcome to the forum Wayne as this is a great place to be. Also welcome back to the hobby and be sure to visit the Du Page model car swap meets in Sept. & Feb. in Wheaton, Il and don't forget to check out the Milwaukee NNL in April as it is a "must see" show. If you have any questions 'bout these events you can send me a PM.
  16. I've been in a local union for 40+ years and I'm still reaping the benefits. I have no complaints 'bout unions.
  17. Competition Resin has a driver or two available.
  18. I've built that kit quite awhile ago, and if I recall I had no problems with it as the chassis should just drop right in between the sides of the body.
  19. To buy them and "toss" them on the pile of other kits, I think not. Besides I have the '62 that I've already started, and who knows when I'll finish it.
  20. They may be the same people that get their cars stuck on the railroad tracks when a train is comin.'
  21. That's what's called free enterprise Harry.
  22. I like 'em!
  23. That is a beautiful build on that Turbine Car Scott. If I ever get to build mine, I hope it comes out just like yours. I was lucky enough to see the Turbine Car at the Chrysler Museum back in '02.
