  1. I had a good time last night as I was at a football "playoff" party, and even won some ca$h. I'll be hobby shoppin' this week.
  2. Hobby shops have been a DYING breed for a few years now all across the country because of our "electronics age" and online shopping. The world is changin' whether we like it or not, and not always for the better.
  3. While Greenfield News & Hobby isn't real close to me as far as mileage goes, I've been going there for 'bout 12 years or so and between Greenfield and the "Empire," they are my FAVORITE hobby shops. With rising gas prices over that last few years, I spent less time driving to those hobby shops as it would cost me $20 -$25 in gas just to look around. However whenever I'm in the area I definitely stop at those shops. I also liked when Hooters was just down the street from Greenfield so I could enjoy some of those famous wings when I was in the area. Yes I'm definitely gonna miss Greenfield News & Hobbies.
  4. Ya gotta tie your shoes Joe.
  5. Yeah it is, as this past summer I noticed a 25% drop in the price of high octane for my summer cruiser. I hope it stays low this summer as I really don't like spending $4.48 a gallon for high octane, like I did in 2013.
  6. I have tall curio cabinets for my built up models and also my die-cast cars. They're nice enough that it's okay with the better half to have one in the family room and the other in the living room. And yes the dust still gets in.
  7. Back in the 60's I used the body from the '63 Fairlane kit to use as a slot car body.
  8. Don't know if Chevrolet had a Bel Air back in '56, but Revell has the '56 Del Ray kit which is pretty nice in 1/25th scale in both the stock and the California Wheels versions. I'm hopin' to start mine this year and it will be a gasser from the mid-60's.

    Way 2 Fast

That Red Baron came out lookin' good. I had one built, but ended up selling it when I got out of the hobby in the 90's. I did pick up another Red Baron kit, now all I gotta do is build it.
  10. Yeah Carl, I would say that helps a lot, as I see a dermatologist occasionally that is drop-dead gorgeous and the help looks great also.
  11. I hope that things work out for your mom Joe.
  12. Some larger hobby shops carry clear and colored acetate by Midwest that is great for window tint. And yes they even have the smoke color as well.
  13. I saw that car at the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals Show in Nov. of 2013 and took a couple photos of it as well. A very cool lookin' car, but not something I would go out of my way to own.
  14. I'm RETIRED and I don't want to work for ANYONE.
  15. No, I can't confirm it but it would be good news.
  16. I have that problem as well and use O'Keefe's Working Hands crème. It helps to some extent, and sometimes I have to use a triple antibiotic crème on the affected area and keep it taped up.
  17. Love those gassers, especially the Green Onions '55.
  18. I'm pleased that I didn't have a TON of snow to plow in my driveway this morning. The temps are really cold and my body is getting older whether I like it or not.
  19. I believe that it was Gregg.
  20. Oh yeah, awesome welds. While I've done very little welding as a construction worker, I've come across much welding in the industry and know guys who can even weld aluminum and also overhead underwater as well. It is an art.
  21. I like Tamiya primers also as it goes on nice and thin. A primer rule I ALWAYS follow is grey primer if the color coats are gonna be black or silver, and white primer for ALL other colors. I never use wax on my models as they don't sit outside when I'm done with them and don't need any protection. I polish out the clear coats after 'bout two weeks drying time, and then I lay down my BMF and decals. Nuff said?
  22. And just what are YOU going to look like when you're older???
  23. Great job on that build Harry, I'm likin' it!
  24. That's what I just heard at a club meeting the other night Snake. I'm gonna hafta try it.
  25. I've know Arnie for many years and I would leave the model "as is" if it were mine. Of course you could always send it to me as it would look great on MY shelf. LOL!
