Are model kits toys. ?
peter31a replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well. We kinda have an answer, sort of, from one Ontario hobby retailer. -
Meyers Manx and Brubaker Box vid
peter31a replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I watch a YouTube channel called Carcheology. Randy found this Brubaker Box and restored it. (I admit that I haven’t watched the video posted here yet so this fact may be covered in the video and that I’m stating the obvious.) -
Are model kits toys. ?
peter31a replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, that's the store I was referring to. I'm used to Spotlight Hobbies board where we don't mention competitors. So far I don't think they know for sure yet. -
Love the ART car! The Dempsey one is pretty interesting too.

One of the Toronto Model Shops is waiting to find out how they will be classified. I'm sure they will be considered toys but we will have to wait and see. -
Winter project need suggestions
peter31a replied to JerseeJerry55's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Check out YouTube for Bus Grease Monkey. He recently bought a running 4070A. It's painted in 70's beige and brown and is a real time capsule. -
Great build of a model not often seen built up. Kudos!

#225 just arrived here in central Ontario today. Looks like another great issue!

Has anyone in Ontario, Canada received their copy of issue 225 yet?

What did you see on the road today?
peter31a replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow! That’s in really nice shape for an Ontario car. Maybe came from down south. -
Porsche 911 RSR by Tamiya on Scalemates?

I'm not much of a Porsche guy but that is pretty cool! May be on my to buy list. -
Anthony Hazelaar. Model T Ford Master Modeler
peter31a replied to stavanzer's topic in Where's Waldo?
Anthony has responded on Spotlight Hobbies board. He has had health issues but is now doing better and slowly getting back to model building. -
Which would you Choose?
peter31a replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I’m not sure if they use the vast quantities of salt/chemicals on the roads in Finland as they do here in Ontario, Canada. An unprotected older vehicle here will rust out in a few short years of winters. -
Which would you Choose?
peter31a replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you intend to winter drive it I would go with the Lincoln because who cares if it rusts away. My choice would be the Nova because I like 6 cylinder four door cars but only if it is a summer only car. -
Anthony Hazelaar. Model T Ford Master Modeler

Yes, he built some great teens, 20's and 30's vehicles. I always loved seeing his posts here and elsewhere. No idea what happened to him though.. -
What is your Favourite Classic Car?
peter31a replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well as a Model A owner, I have to say any Model A, any year, any body style. If I were to go further afield, I would say 1940 Ford Coupe, 1937 Cord or a 1941 Lincoln Continental -
What did you see on the road today?
peter31a replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It may have started as a Canadian thing because our Mercury dealers wanted cars that could go head to head with Ford products to get more people through the doors. -
The Mystery Car...
peter31a replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My first reaction was that it was a Kellison Kit car but any googling that I've done, this does not match any of their product. It does look kit car-ish but who knows. -
Of course any adults in my family didn't want us to have anything to do with them and with my crappy sense of balance I was lucky to survive the bicycle phase so I was more than happy to move onto the 4 wheel phase. I just didn't think it would be wise for me to get on any 2 wheeled conveyance with a motor on it. If I want bugs in my teeth I'll get a Model A speedster or something. Never been on a motorcycle and never intend to get on one at this age. I know millions of people enjoy them and more power to y'all but just not for me.

Model clubs in Whitby, Ontario
peter31a replied to Nick Winter's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Yes, the Durham Area Automotive Modelers still meet at Dailey Hobbies on, I believe, the third Wednesday of the month. If you’re on Facebook you can follow them there so you can see when the next meeting is scheduled.
