They are marketed as U.S. version but because of the issues noted above, they are not. They are GAZ ( Russian) versions of a Model A.

Stynylrez Primers and winter
peter31a replied to Kromolly's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Maple Leaf Airbrushing Supplies here in Canada has this on their website about shipping water based paints in winter. WINTER SHIPPING: Winter Shipping Advisory: Protecting Your Water-Based Paints Water-based paints are highly sensitive to freezing temperatures and do not tolerate the freeze/thaw cycle. Freezing can damage the paint’s consistency, rendering it unusable. Some pigments/paints are more sensitive to cold then others. If your paint does freeze during transit To ensure your paints arrive in optimal condition during cold weather, we strongly recommend taking the following precautions - There are no guarantees or refunds for frozen paint. Purchase a Heat Pack: Heat packs can maintain a consistent temperature inside the shipping package, protecting the paints from freezing. Select FEDEX 2-Day Shipping: Faster delivery minimizes the exposure of your paints to extreme temperatures. Small Centres or PO Boxes - Canada Post Priority Only By Placing an order for water-based products - you have agreed to the terms. These steps significantly increase the likelihood that your water-based paints will arrive ready to use, even during the coldest months. For any additional questions about winter shipping or product care, feel free to contact our support team! -
Yes, I should have phrased that differently. I said it that way because the running boards are molded with the fenders in the kit but I never mentioned the running boards in my comment. How is it “easily “ fixed? I don’t see how it can be done without cutting them apart and making your own and not sure how to replicate the proper pattern for the rubber. Then, you have to replicate the metal outer edge.

If they retool the fenders, it would be nice if they got them right for a Model A and not a GAZ. Also it never got mentioned here but they released the top down version earlier this fall. It was at the Hobby store I frequent. My model building buddies were trying to get me to buy it but I resisted.

Merry Christmas to you as well.

Are model kits toys. ?
peter31a replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Right in the quote you left from the government website: Toys that are being marketed as being for an age below 14 would qualify. Toys and model sets marketed for adults do not qualify. We were amazed to see Sunward flouting the guidelines in their ads. I’m not saying I would turn down the savings but saying all model kits qualify is incorrect and some of these retailers are taking their chances. -
Are model kits toys. ?
peter31a replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
According to who, Dan? It’s not all model kits. See the video that I posted above. Panda Hobby, a Gundam shop in Toronto, is very specific on which kits that they can legally sell under this new legislation. During a ZOOM call last night we were checking a number of our kits including Tamiya and most of them said suitable of ages 14 and above making them ineligible for the tax holiday. Don’t get your hopes up unless your hobby shop is playing fast and loose with the rules. -

Well. We kinda have an answer, sort of, from one Ontario hobby retailer. -
Meyers Manx and Brubaker Box vid
peter31a replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I watch a YouTube channel called Carcheology. Randy found this Brubaker Box and restored it. (I admit that I haven’t watched the video posted here yet so this fact may be covered in the video and that I’m stating the obvious.) -

Yes, that's the store I was referring to. I'm used to Spotlight Hobbies board where we don't mention competitors. So far I don't think they know for sure yet. -
Love the ART car! The Dempsey one is pretty interesting too.

One of the Toronto Model Shops is waiting to find out how they will be classified. I'm sure they will be considered toys but we will have to wait and see. -

Check out YouTube for Bus Grease Monkey. He recently bought a running 4070A. It's painted in 70's beige and brown and is a real time capsule. -
Great build of a model not often seen built up. Kudos!

Has anyone in Ontario, Canada received their copy of issue 225 yet?

Wow! That’s in really nice shape for an Ontario car. Maybe came from down south. -

Anthony has responded on Spotlight Hobbies board. He has had health issues but is now doing better and slowly getting back to model building. -
Which would you Choose?
peter31a replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I’m not sure if they use the vast quantities of salt/chemicals on the roads in Finland as they do here in Ontario, Canada. An unprotected older vehicle here will rust out in a few short years of winters. -

peter31a replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you intend to winter drive it I would go with the Lincoln because who cares if it rusts away. My choice would be the Nova because I like 6 cylinder four door cars but only if it is a summer only car.
