Hitting the motherload!
peter31a replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As you say the K&S and Evergreen are worth the price of admission alone. The Mini Countryman is pretty cool too. Congratulations on your haul! -
Welcome. Look forward to seeing the Le Mans and Touring cars.

Very SHINY indeed! Sweet build, Jim. Love the colour.

Beautiful build of that Lincoln kit. Whether original Lincoln colour or not that shade certainly looks period appropriate.. Very, very nice.

That's Harry Connick Jr.! Oh. wait. This is Auto ID not Harry ID. Umm... I have no idea.

It'll be great to see the old dealership on display again. -
Sweet, clean build! Love the colour choices.

Very cool! I had thought of doing an eighties version using a Ford EXP and a Dodge Omni. Even bought the kits but never followed through with it.

Wolfman`s Wagon
peter31a replied to hobbybobby's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Wow! Excellent work especially on the wolfman! Excellent detail work and it's very realistic. Congrats! -
That's a good question for which I have no answer. The only thing I can say is a lot of people make their own with tubing and cut off the universals to add to end of tubing.

Looks pretty good for only your second build. I like the white chrome, it accents well with the green. -
Wow! Very nice build! That rear wing is massive and must have been a challenge. Beautifully built model.

Very cool build! It does look very Deal-ish.

Years ago there was what was called The Hobby Show in Toronto where people could come and buy hobby related material and see hobby clubs displaying their hobbies such as model building, marquetry, rc stuff, model railroads, mecanno etc. Group 25 had a display there for years. One year a vendor had that The Homer for sale. I thought it would be a good idea to buy it and build it at the show so that the crowds could see an entry level kit being built out of box. It was going just fine until I got to that rear bubble. The bubble is 2 pieces plus that green piece that goes around it. You have to try to hold it all together and snap it into place. I couldn't do it. I just couldn't do it. I fought with it and fought with it and fought with it. It was: ! Of course my fellow club members were killing themselves laughing and reminding me it was a skill level 1 kit. And the public got more of a show than I ever intended! I still get reminded of that episode and this is 10 years later.

Model Building Live Streams
peter31a replied to slowlylearning's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would like to have a nice little row boat on a stream right now, on a hot day like this....but I'm guessing that's not the kind of stream you're talking about. -
Hi Edward! Welcome to the forum. Lots of good model building info to be had here. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Looks like you're doing some good building with the performance cars.

How to start a Model T
peter31a replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Luckily for me a Model A is much easier to start (it has a starter) but you still have to know what you're doing. -
Why not these things
peter31a replied to raildogg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And yet the plane and tank guys hate rubber and vinyl tires as they don't have the proper "weight on the tire" bulges and it's harder to make a flat tire. They would rather mask a wheel and tire unit for painting than have seperate tires made of rubber or vinyl. I like our system better where you paint the wheel (if not chrome) and install a proper tire after. -
I picked up the Fireball Roberts 57 Ford yesterday as well as Fine Scale Modeller, Tamiya Model Magazine and AK Interactive magazine on Mud.

Depends where you live. Here in Canada you get dinged everytime you use debit or ATM's. We still use cash or credit (which gets paid each month). My wife works for an accountant and can't get over the statements she sees where people are paying over $200 a month for using debit card and the fees involved even when they special bank plans.
