  1. Maybe, or find someone who can show you how to use the ones other modelers use successfully all the time and have for years. Remember, just 'cause YOU weren't able do something well, it usually only means that you did it wrong. Following directions and practicing often leads to different results. Good luck! (if you decide to learn a new modeling skill)
  2. Remember these Rancheros only had ONE gas tank door (on the driver's side IIRC) not two.
  3. So you buy 9 kits at time 'cause you build 9 at a time? Today's batch are all very nice...
  4. Exactly..and if Revell and Monogram could both get it right 50 years ago, why not now?
  5. This kit has nothing to do with the Metropolitans ..they were really Austins (to make it even more confusing) although they were called Nashs, even Hudsons briefly. Yes.. Nash had three lines of cars "compact" >>the Rambler wagon (that in this case has been converted to a sedan delivery). and two full-sized Nashs>> big n bigger (wheel base and trim differences) No need at all to be sorry..
  6. Tom..this isn't based on the (Nash) Metro Don put(s) out, the only "real" Nash I can remember Don putting out was Paul Hettick's 50 Ambassador. I got one of these Ramblers about 20+ years ago from a caster named Mike (I can't remember his last name), who passed away soon after.
  7. Thank you too Todd. I got the bumper today in perfect shape!
  8. That sounds about right...what shipping service did you use? I think it was your advice that led me to use EMS to begin with. If so, thanks!
  9. EMS..it was just slightly less than for the 300 Sl (lighter package?)
  10. Just paid for mine... $34.95 including shipping from HLJ.
  11. No this is the 'little" Rambler (wagon) it came as a wagon and a semi-convertible at first and later a 2 door hardtop. Yes it's a 50/52. The nickname refered to the full sized Nash which came in 2 series, comprised of various 2 and 4 door bodies, but no wagons,'verts or hardtops. You're right about the aero...it was only kinda aerodynamic.
  12. I was hoping to see the Model As .....but thanks for sharing what you did...
  13. One more thought...the torsion-bar front ends from late 60 early 70 mopars. These are readily available in varying levels of detail in AMT and Revellogram kits. They used to be used on tri-5 F100s and F1s (the old Gibbon's kits)
  14. I wanted to try the "Mustang-style" ifs from the Revellogram 37 Ford ..but I couldn't find mine. I already told you what I used, a one piece unit from an unknown Revellogram G.M. kit. The truck frame is perfect for swaps (square n flat) and the inner fenders can be easily modified to mount the upper a arms. My swap didn't really leave any room for springs but looks ok at a glance. This put my spindles level with the top of the frame rails. Low but with a still "legal" scrub line. Good luck in your search...the truck looks good lowered.
  15. Then the Revell hood top would not have fit....
  16. NO... Definition of COMPOUND CURVE. : a curve made up of two or more circular arcs of successively shorter or longer radii, joined tangentially without reversal of curvature, and used on some railroad tracks and highways as an easement curve to provide a less abrupt transition from tangent to full curve or vice versa. hope this helps....
  17. Thanks...again,great job on the Merc.
  18. The Revell firewall appears to have been recessed into the MPC body..so there is nothing to locate the hood top in the rear. The side of the MPC body is too short to match the Revell hood sides as well. Real 32's with Hemis often delete the hood sides or form "bubbles" in the front to clear the valve covers. Obviously it was easier to just leave the hood (pieces) off....
  19. Thanks..it looks fine in the pics, but it's not the color I wanted when I bought it... minus the wash, do you think it matches the cap fairly well?
  20. WOW! nice job.. Does the Dull Red paint show up correctly in your pics? Maybe it's the wash, but it doesn't look like the color on the cap of the can I have.
  21. "Most likely one could have gotten a bumper without them" Nope..the lights for the rear license plate were in the bumper guards...you had to have a rear plate and it had to be lighted in all 48 states. (They also carried over the sedan steering wheel...but the wagon would have had the deluxe chrome horn ring/hub steering wheel) The kit is supposed to be able to be built stock...the 2 n 1 is STOCK or POLICE....there's no mention of "custom" parts. But I'm mostly, at this point, JUST curious about why they choose to remove them vs. correcting them.
  22. So I'm still wondering why they removed the rear bumper guards instead of simply fixing them...or just leaving the wrong ones in place.
  23. Yes it does...I'm especially impressed with the fit of the doors (so far at least). I made my own Rudge wheels with 1/8 tubing spacing the AMT knockoffs away from the hub..no hub rivets but I can live with that "error" on my black wheels.
  24. I hope this sells well...I'd like to see more "old" cars from Tamiya, like 50's British sports cars. The MGA, Triumph TR2/3, Austin Healy (early) would be welcomed by many.
