£- Revell 1969 Corvette L71 -£

Whosurdaddy209 cast this motor. -
Thanks for the replies. I only brush acrylics for interiors and small parts on motors. I was curious if this paint was comparable to Vallejo model acrylics or tamiya acrylics when brushing.

Rustoleum 2X spray paints
kymdlr replied to Smoke Wagon's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I’ve had some great experiences with rust-o & some bad experiences. The clear coats have always been good sprays for me with no problems. Some of the solid gloss color’s have been hit or miss. The flat/satin is usually good. I had a textured black that sprayed fine a couple times but then eventually the entire van got clogged and nothing would unclog it. -
Anyone have any experience with this paint? I had never heard of it but Michael’s had a big selection of them and there’re less than $2 per bottle.

What’s the color on the Challenger?

Are the wheels & redlines on the blue one from the kit or aftermarket?

Nice work, I’ve got a WIP in the same color I was debating on the vinyl roof.

The white Merc is sweet, is it a matte pearl white? Also that Taurus is sick.

Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
kymdlr replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Im thinking about getting one as well. the majority of the dehydrators I found are circle shaped and have stackable "shelves" that are not tall enough to fit bodies in. I think im understanding corectly but to make sure, are yall cutting all the shelves out and just keeping the outer ring portion for height? -
this is a beautiful build!

Tamiya TS65 Pearl Clear questions
kymdlr replied to bh1701's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The pearl clear adds a slight pearl effect if you are close up on the model , I wouldn’t equal it to an actual color based metallic paint color. Here is tamiya pearl over yellow and a turquoise. -
Easily one of the best detailed drag models I’ve ever seen.

Masking Tape Leaking -2 tone Paint Job
kymdlr replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I mask with Tamiya tape then spray a thin coat of clear to seal the tape line, once the clear is dry then Spray your main color over it and you should have no problems with bleeding. I also use kitchen plastic wrap or newspaper to cover the parts of the body i dont want overspray to ruin. Ive had some very bad results with Blue painters tape leaving residue on my paint jobs that took some extra effort to get off, not always but its happened several times. -
I love the green 55. I remember seeing it somewhere on the internet years ago.

Ambulance body retro fit

Everything about the scratch built box looks great. The rollaway doors are perfect, are they scratch built or a 3D printed piece? The scene lights are a nice touch too. -
Looking good, what is the red color on the 2nd bee?

This one is almost done. Still need to add the wing, some exhaust tips, door handles and a couple small things. Debating on if I want to detail a motor so for now it’s curbside.
-
Added side windows, finished the BMF trim & created the exhaust from solder. The rear end is the kit piece removed from the one piece plastic exhaust. The original decals for the nose were too old to save so I masked off the black area & added a little parking light detail.
-
The purple bird is the look I’m going for. Not a factory color but I love it. I removed and filled an extra fluid tank that didn’t need to be there & detailed the dash. Drilled out the molded gauges and placed printed aftermarket gauges on clear plastic.

Added the cloth roof using the tape method, would use textured paint next time. Changed the wheels & tires. Detailed the motor. Made a three piece air cleaner set up from the molded kit part.Added bracing to the underside of the trunk & created a spare tire. Paint is rattle can rustoleum polished out.

Icemancollections on eBay has some great quality turbos -
Florida Highway Patrol used these in the early 2000’s. Using a junked revell Kit that I picked up at a show for $3 & a couple aftermarket decals/parts, I made this.
