Line-o-tape pinstripe tape
kymdlr replied to dimebolt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very old thread I know, but I’ve recently been curious about using tape for simple straight line pin stripes. Which size of this tape would look good on a 1:25 scale car for a factory side pin stripe look? The 1/32 or 1/64 tape? -
Hobby Lobby Summer 19 clearance

Good deals. If anyone has an extra 66 Suburban to trade, I’m interested. -
That color combo is sweet

I want a set of those wheels.

Here is the pretty much completed model. I may make some sort of street scene type display for it . awesome resin Wheels from Tony's Custom Squads.

Thanks for the input but Yep its going to be a slick top car because I hate that era lightbar & yes im aware of who drove them. Im sure there was at least one slicktop that got some bullet damage during the exchange, for instance the still shot that I attached showing the SWAT caprice that was used by officers for cover while the shooter used that white sedan for cover.

All the black & chrome trim for the windows is finished. Added a few more bullet holes to the hood & front glass. For the rear I have the whole back glass blown out.
-
This car wont have a prisoner partition between the front & rear seats so I didn't have anything to mount the shotgun on .Scratch built one & attached it. Got the chrome trim applied around the windows & added rust & light paint damage.

Yes and no. The patrol guys didn’t have rifles, but the swat guys who eventually responded & took out the shooters did. Also the patrol guys went to local gun stores to secure rifles that they were able to use

I meant to put North, Don't know why I typed "west". Its corrected thanks.

More interior details. I found some 1:35 scale shell casings (didnt even know such a thing existed) that fit great on this build to simulate some of them landing on the passenger side seat. Added more shattered glass to the dash, police electronic equipment to the center console, a baton & a map.

Base coat white on body, followed by the addition of the black coat & some interior details. Ive added some entry bullet holes to the body with matching exit holes on the interior doors & seats. Added the shattered glass look to the interior using shaved clear plastic. The holes in the seats and doors were filled w/ loose cotton from a q-tip & painted yellow to simulate cushioning. Since this is a heavily used car in the fleet, Ive added a few rust spots to the body as well. Also added seat belts to the front seats. The black trim on the body is rough in these pics because there will be chrome trim over top of it.

Had this idea for a little while . The North Hollywood shootout happened in LA back in the mid-90's. It was a notorious crime but if you haven't heard of it, its all over google & youtube. The idea for this model is to show a period correct car that would have been involved in the response & heavily damaged from gun fire. A couple reference pics were used to get the effects (I do not own these).

amazing build -
Very cool to see this era vic, is this the one someone on this board was creating from scratch? How much do the kits run?
-
Thank you all for the comments! Yes Tommy I opened the headlight area with a dremel and then scratch built the housings with sheet plastic & modified parts box lenses, it was a pretty simple fix.

love that color& the motor.

Revell Kit. Testors Metallic Green. Rear Tires are resin from Fireball. Front tires will be getting matching decals soon. Wired 426 Hemi from a 71 Cuda detailed w/ scratch & parts box parts. I had never seen one of these built w/ the headlights in the open position so I scratch built those pieces and positioned them in a partially open position. Added valve stems to all wheels. A couple other small details added.
