Using 1/24 scale Bonnet/Hood Pins
Exotics_Builder replied to DiscoRover007's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is the Crazy Modeler set. but the KA and Aber sets are similar. The one I circled could be an option to not drill in. You could flatten the through tab enough to or trim it to get it to lay flat. -

Aber and KA Models have sets that can possibly get you by. Then there is the option of looking for the chromed ones from something like a Revell Hemi Dart, if someone did not use them. -

As Kurt mentioned. There are different hood pin sets, especially for foreign cars. Some require no hole. The other point is that if the body part on the model is not to be opened, there are options to simply glue on a hood pin without drilling. -

Fred did do them. Sheet #27. He may still have some left. You'd need to send him a letter checking on it and reserving one. DOn't see one in Keith's listing. There are some Of Fred's sheets being sold o EBAY -

His catalog is the photo set he has on his FB page. I dealt with him with FB Messenger. He crafts when ordered, so expect some time before getting them. These are what I just got -
Is Your Model Car Club on Lockdown
Exotics_Builder replied to Joe Thomas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes. And Lake Michigan Model Car club is also in the same boat. Their meeting spot is a church hall and, even if available, the number of people would likely exceed. Best to be safe. We're talking about the possibility of using Zoom for a virtual meeting, but some members are not real internet savvy. They could use phones, but not really the same. Our two events, thus far, have been pushed back later in the year -

Yep. Scale Auto Builders Assn and the Chicago area clubs I used to attend are all suspended. More time to get organized after the move -

As ace said, you may need to check any issues with the transmission mounting and clearance (as in the real cars). But (unlike the real cars), you could get away with some dremel work if need be (if it is a problem). Transmission cross brace is the usual piece you may have to tweak despite motor mounting.

New Project – Revell 1969 Camaro Pace Car
Exotics_Builder replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Chassis Bracing work in progress: I have made a little progress here. I am doing this old school. I started with a card stock template based on the rescaled photo. I then transferred this to .020 evergreen plastic and scribed it out. I then tweaked the edges to get some round over, drilled the holes (one is too far offset and needs fixing), and scribed the outboard ends for fold down to the model chassis. The center section (drawn in X) will eventually be cut out as I am making the center piece (which is separate in the 1:1) from .010 plastic and will eventually glue that in place. Prepping for chassis attachment, I sanded down the chassis ribbing that will be covered. Needs a little more cleanup and then I will work the center brace plate. -
Are the tires okay? The ones on my 25 year old Unimog Fire were "melting". I had to get replacements from RoG.
