  1. Murphy's law has been fighting me on this. If you remember, I had to strip the body as I damaged the final finish (in a most conspicuous spot). On top of that, I spilt the remaining paint I had and needed to get more from Scale Finishes. I also needed to get a replacement decal sheet, since the badging is a bit "soft" and the usual BMF first and sand after every color coat was not working. I've married the front sub-frame to the chassis/interior. This is a little finicky, as I wound up with a slight warp at the front passenger wheel. I tried tweaking a couple of times, but no luck. Initial mating to body is inconclusive as to whether that will fix it. Will need to wait and see. I also needed to shave a bit of the inner fender wells as I was not happy with the fit, This area is not visible after assembly. Be sure to follow the instructions advice on aligning the firewall, inner fenders and front brace. It is critical. For the wheels, I chose not to use the kit provided tire and wheel set. I opted for a set of American Satco redlines and Magnum 500 wheels from the stash. This meant I needed to do a different wheel mounting approach. Solved through wheel backs from the stash, some Evergreen rod and some reaming to fit the mounting pins. Now to foil, apply the decals, clear and finish this kit off.
  2. The Revell 2010 Camaro pretty well fits under the AMT 2011 Convertible and 2013 ZL1. Which means you do more detail there if you want. In other cases, not much fit in some areas.
  3. Just got a response from him yesterday within a couple of hours on the AccuAir and if there will be a reissue. It is a great setup and I am looking to get at least one more for the Meng Ford F350. His stuff is great and I understand an expansion is underway. Ping him again.
  4. Yep, and a very NICE kit.
  5. Have yet to try it. Kit is still unbuilt in the stash. But, I would likely use 1/12 CF decal over it anyway.
  6. I would sincerely doubt it would work with Automotive paints that are enamel or lacquer. It would likely work with acrylics, but I would suggest alternatives. The only use in automotive modeling I ever came across for gesso was in some detailing, where artist oils were used and for painting lettering on tires.
  7. This project has been on and off for some time, and is essentially a reissue of the Italeri Kit. I guess we'll have to wait and see. If anyone is interested, I can always post photos of the 250 contents of my kit.
  8. I built the Cabrio back in the early 90's and it was a very nice kit. The E-Series looked like ESCI was the source and not in a good way. I picked up the 230 TE when I was in Germany on a trip and eventually gave up on it. Look at the new C7 Corvette (easy build not snap) and the 2013 ZL1 Camaro. They at least have a modest front suspension area and separate exhaust, but the rear suspension is molded in the chassis and uses the metal axle approach. Just would have loved that to be separate as well.
  9. Yep. Don't know what that portends. Hopefully, there will be more info next week from the Nuremberg show. My biggest gripe with the easy build Revell USA offerings is that the chasses are reminiscent of the early 60's AMT's. I really don't care for that!
  10. At least a 3.0CS! Remember their Premium Bimmers of the late 80's/early 90's? One thing I am concerned on the AMG GT and an announced McLaren 570S is skill level 3. I was told that RoG was enamored with the Revell USA easy builds (C7 Vette, ZL1 Camaro) that those two might be offered as such.
  11. Already announced AMG GT, love to see Sports Sedans like an AMG E63.
  12. That is what I have heard from the US side. But RoG is on point, not the US. Supposedly, the 250 is POSTPONED until the licensing issue worked out. I hope so. I do have one unbuilt down in the basement stash, but another might not hurt.
  13. No photos yet but announced on Tamiya's Blog: 14130 1/12 Repsol Honda RC213V 1424343 1/24 Ferrari FXX K
  14. Given that the F12 came first, I don't think so. There is a lot of difference between the two You know, everybody has their likes and dislikes in car styles. I try to keep an open mind about design. There are a lot of factors that go into styling any car and there will be fans and detractors. For example, I don't like Mustangs, but enjoy that people who do get a chance for one. It is nice to see that Revell of Germany will do a McLaren 570S this year along with the AMG GT. A lot of people will enjoy that, even though the 570S is the lower end of the line and a lot would love the P1. I subscribe to the "it will work out" theory. But there are a lot of candidates for models that would be nice to see produced, especially in the Sports Sedan range. I have a big enough stash of unbuilt exotics that I could go along for some years without getting a new one (doesn't mean I won't ) . There are also a lot of options to do Pro-Touring versions of American cars. I guess we'll just wait and see.
  15. x2. Would love to have a model of that. Listening Fujimi?
  16. Plasticote primer worked well for me. Better than Duplicolor. Haven't found a good source to replace it, but trying not to buy any paint unless needed (hard to move it)
  17. Not sure where the licensing will go, but I hope it will work out. I am more concerned that RoG sees a car like the F12 and thinks it too much like the 599 to do a version Same with the California T, 488, etc. I know RoG basically orients to the German market and Europe as a expansion of that. But that is somewhat myopic given some of the cars. I can see not doing the FF (even though I think it should have been done), but an F12 TdF, 488, 488 Spyder? Come on. I will now get off my soapbox and take my meds
  18. Mini-Exotics did. I have the full detail kit down in the basement stash (top of second column from right). This kit has a lot of white metal castings for detail, but was north of $125 when new.
  19. I used a similar version of this about 20 years ago in doing the Lindberg 61 Impala. The "teeth" just below the rear window were too shallow to stand above the paint and I used the technique to apply after paint and before clear coat.
  20. Open a dispute with PayPal quickly. Arrowhead was very good when they first opened but went downhill a few years later. I haven't ordered from them since early on, but others have had many problems. Best to protect yourself.
  21. As Fujimi has done a decent 250 GTO recently, along with the previous Italeri and Protar(reboxed Revell AG) versions, I don't think it likely. I could be wrong, but since Tamiya has done the LaFerrari, an FXX-K would be a good extension. This would be in the spirit of the previous Enzo-FXX releases. If they were doing something from that era, I would push for a 250 GT Lusso. We'll find out in a couple of weeks. We could all be fooled and it will be a Maserati MC12
  22. Got this ELetter from Tamiya today: The 2016 Nuremburg Toy Fair will be taking place from January 27-Febraury 1, 2016. Tamiya's massive booth in Hall 7A will be displaying many new product announcements. While we are not able to disclose exact product details, here is a sneak peek. • New 1/14 Semi-truck • New M-Chassis kit • New version of a popular on-road chassis kit • New R/C Hop-Up Option parts for the M-05, TB-04 and EVO 6 • New French Model Tank • New Championship winning motorcycle replica • New Italian track only sports car in 1/24 scale • New Mini 4WD products • New paints Make sure to follow our Blog post on January 27 for the complete listing of NEW items! 23. Okay, I'll play. At the top of my head: Ferrari FFFerrari F12 TdFCurrent BMW M52016 Silverado 2500HD2016 Yukon Denali57 Olds 98Ferrari 250 GT LussoI could toss in a few more, but these are the most interesting to me
