  1. Got mine a few days ago, I'm on my third reading....'Z'
  2. Always liked this un,Dave....In this case the big wheels look right at home. As to that 'other' thang,we all understand.....I couldn't take 24/7 of George myself !...(GRIN)............theZman
  3. Fantastic ! Great; I love it !.....Pro touring. 'nuff said.
  4. Good tips, but be careful.....some dish soaps contain agents to keep waterspots orr your rinsed dishes(I think it's silicone) and it will keep paint from STICKING TO YOUR MODEL!
  5. Hey,Doc....what frame is that?
  6. Wow, nice job so far. I have one of these still in the box and never thought of combining it with the R/M kit. I didn't know they made a Camaro version, I would trade mine for the Camaro,if anyone is interested ?.....Steve Zimmerman
  7. Sorry, should have proofread my previous email.....Google JADA Bigtime Muscle.....sorry....
  8. Google ada Bigtime Muscle, they DO sell online. If you cannot find them, PM me and I will hit the local Walmart and see what I can find, and could send them to you for what they cost plus shipping.....I have two sets, but they're MINE,ALL MINE! (grin) I'm off to work, but will answer in the morning.....Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man...
  9. I told you EXACTLY where to get those wheels.....Go back and read my post again,carefully......Steven Zimmerman
  10. I like the way you think ! Race Motor Replicas casts and sells a 39 Chevy with similar body mods, onla a 3 window style with a 41 Willys rear window,no running boards, and 'Mini Cooper' headlights and comes with a pie cut hood and 'massaged' grille, interior, floorboard and frame....'Z'
  11. Check out the toy section at Walmart, and look for a diecast Jada 'BIGTIME Muscle' 1/32nd scale 1967 Shelby GT-500 , it has wheels on it that are similar to whatyou're looking for. At 5 bucks each, it's a good buy even if you need to get two (back tires are more 1/25 scale, you might have to buy 2 mustangs to get the size rims you want. Tires are not great, but will work......'Z'
  12. A couple of tips : chuck them in your Dremel and polish them with Novus, they look even better. Again, chuck them in your Dremel and turn down the outside diameter and re shape the edge; this takes some practice but is well worth the effort. Ream out the inside diameter with the appropriate size drill bit so they slip over K&S aluminium tubing for ease of assembly. I found the hardest thing was finding an appropriate manifold, most '8 hole' manifolds are not spaced with the holes far enough apart to use these (thus, the 'diameter' tip.) You can drop colored round head 'map' pins into the openings to duplicate those tennis balls (etc) you would see in the injector stacks when you walked through the pits at any dragstrip... Also most are not flat on the bottom and need minor filing. BTW,these are also available in colors and brass if you be so inclined..........Steven Zimmerman
  13. I would go with Jerry on this; sounds like you may have mold release on the resin. Another hint- sand both mating surfaces for a better bond, and start out with a small amount of glue, until it sets-and then add more glue. I go through one or two tubes a week of superglue, and use it for everything from joining panels to filling pinholes to using it for bondo on large areas like roofs. I buy the cheap stuff at Walmart (4 tubes fer a dollar) and have never had it go bad (unless I left the lid off), but maybe I'm just lucky. One other tip....use accelerator, but don't spray it,use a toothpick to apply it,and be QUICK, or you will glue the toothpick to the item you are bonding. It will go a lot farther....(It ain't cheap ! )Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man
  14. Race Motor Replicas also offers a couple of Willys bodys in resin. 2 41 bodies are offered based on the R/M street rod kit. One has a chopped top with a pie cut hood and the leading edge of the hood/nose laid back, with re-radiused wheel wells. The top is chopped in a way that the 'stock' front and rear glass from the kit can be used with no alterations. The other 41 body is a roadster, with a laid back windshield, using the glass from the R/M prowler. The original hood has been pie-cut,nose laid back, molded into the body, and a new hood has been designed to fit in a smaller opening. Also available are 2 '33 Willys bodies, both a 3 window coupe and a roadster. Both have full fenders,a non-recessed trunk area, hood sides molded into the body, and a pie cut flat hood with the blower opening molded in. Both come with resin grilles, and are designed along the lines of the 1/1 aftermarket'glass bodies, rather than stock.
  15. George,I thought you weren't allowed to have anything with a sharp point,as a condition of your parole?
  16. Several things that I do to get 'shine' on my paint jobs. First thing I do is to wet sand the primer with 1200 grit (wet) before I even think of painting. I lay down several 'wet' coats of paint and let dry. (Drying time will depend on type of paint) I then wet sand the entire paint job (even metallics) with 2000 grit paper, then lay on a couple more coats of paint. With metallics, I thin it down a little more and then clear it; I don't clear solid colors. After paint cures,I go directly to 4000 grit sanding pads until all orange peel is gone (if there is any),and then right to Novus # 2 and then polish. Takes longer, but it works for me! I then polish with Meguiar's Deep crystal paint cleaner(may affect some enamels, try on piece of scrap painted plastic first) It seems to work well on Krylon or automotve lacquer. I then buff with Meguiar's showcar glaze, then wax with Meguiars Gold Class car wax. I know this sounds like a Meguiar's commercial, but that's what works for me. I use flannel cloth I buy at the fabric store; for all steps after the #4000 grit pad,and I use a clean new piece for every step. Good Luck, Steve Zimmerman
  17. I have Randy's kit,as well as a 1/1 sitting in the garage. The major differance? Randy's is only 1/25th the size of my 'real' one.....
  18. I have both the AAM and the R&R; there are quite a few differances. I was hoping to combine the best of both, but after considerable thought, decided it would maybe be better to start from scratch with the Revell truck kit. I just recently found some good pics of the rear end of the truck, which had been holding up my progress for quite some time. Too many other masters to finish, personal life, health reasons, and a wife who believes I spend ENTIRELY TOO MUCH TIME at the hobby bench.....Same problems you all have,I'm sure....'Z'
  19. Slightly off topic, but I believe Paul Froncillo of PSF hobbies has one of those sittin in his garage with a small V-8.....
  20. Ray Parsons does an early '60's'panel but it will take a lot of work. All American Models used to do something similar, but that was a long time ago in a land far,far away. It looked fairly accurate, but was a REALLY thick casting ( as were most castings done in that time period) I have started a master of one,but have hit some snags doing the rear panels. Now that I think about it,Ray's and Art's may be '65's which share 75% of the '60 sheet metal, more or less.........'Z'
  21. I read the first 3 pages in this thread and then skipped to the last page to make my comments and DANG,the Falcon turned into a SCION XB!....Seriously,I read most of the comments over on the Hobby Heaven Board, and a lot of the comments on here, but ended up deciding to buy this kit based solely on ONE POST....The one Gregg posted with the pics of the Pro Touring build. That was all I needed to see to make my decision..........'Z'
  22. I would contact Ed Fluck junior at Drag City casting and see if he still has the molds.
  23. ............If this is the Ed Fluck casting,it was designed to use the R/M Z/16 kit frame, hood, grille, and glass The bumpers were modified (bumper guards removed/wouldn't work with the tailgate open )and cast by Ed. Tail lights/tail light housings are needed from the AMT 64/65 Chevelle wagon or El Camino kit. Interior must be scratchbuilt.
  24. I'm positive that's the one I mastered for Ed shortly before he passed on; from a R/M 65 Z/16,an AMT 65 El Camino, and an AMT 65 4 door wagon. The ones you see on ebay might be fron Modelhaus or Jimmy Flintstone. Holthaus version was based totally on the AMT 65 Chevelle wagon and Elky, which I mastered fo Mike Watgen, and the Flintstone version is also based on the AMT offerings, but I don't know who did it. All three are decent, and build up nicely.........the'Z'man
