-
The wheels are too big, the paint is too shiny, I LIKE THIS !...! !...the'Z'man

Nice concept & execution, but it would never work (because I DIDN'T THINK OF IT!...GRIN).....Seriously,this is thinkin outside the box; I LOVE it !
-
If it is a solid color (no pearls, metalflake, candy, etc.) you should be able to touch it up with a paintbrush or airbrush, especially if it is from the same can. Then polish to 'blend it in.......'Z'

1940 chevy coupe??????
Steven Zimmerman replied to lowriderphil's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Phil, I think R&R has it in 1/24 and I'm pretty sure it's available as a diecast...'Z' -

M.A.S. has trim rings available to fit almost every 1/24-1/25 scale tire out there. and they are 'comparatively inexpensive' (depending on your definition of'comparatively inexpensive').....

If your home has adjustable window blinds, check out the cords that are used to 'adjust' them.....you might get a pleasant surprise..........theZman

Just do it ! And you don't have to lengtheh the top if you change the angle of the window glass, but you still will probably have to split it lengthwise and widen it. Grab an old junk body, set it on your bench and stare at it,and think about it,plan it out, then do it! Measure all your cuts carefully and be sure they're the same side to side. Just do it!

I've been using these-AND telling people about them -for 10 years.....glad to see somebody using them!

Good job ! Somewhere I have pics of that car with my two sons(aged 10 1nd 12 at the time) standing next to the car with Steve Grissom,in the Channellock parking lot on race day.I work at Channellock, and have fond memories( and autographed hats,Tee shirts, and diecast replicas) of the days Steve spent touring our plant, and BSing with us employees and our families. He is one of the nicest guys I ever met, along with Sammy Swindell when we sponsored him.....thanks for the memories!

Terraplane Grille in Resin
Steven Zimmerman replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes,here.....I know the detail suffered,but it's still workable....I would purchase several. -
Race Motor Replicas offers two resin bodies for this kit. a closed cab with chopped top,'seamless' body(bed molded to the cab) tubbed bed, molded in ground effects, cowl induction hood, and a smooth bed cover along with a frame with a narrowed rear end; and a roadster body with a differant style of ground effects, along with all the same stuff available with the 'closed cab' body.

Cool Way of Keeping Your Airbrush Clean
Steven Zimmerman replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
A tip I learned in the custom paint business (40 years experience) was to clean the paint guns with spray can carburator cleaner. Spray the outside to clean, spray through the paint inlet while working the trigger to spray it through the gun; takes about 30 seconds and removes ALL traces of paint from the inner and outer surfaces. When done, shoot a teaspoon of lacquer thinner through the airbrush, and you're finished !This will not harm the neoprene/rubber 'O' rings in a Badger,Binks or Paasche brush; dunno about some of the newer ones like Aztec or Grexx...........'Z' -
Model Cars Magazine #154
Steven Zimmerman replied to TOYCARTEC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh,come on...let's get real here. I understand your concerns, but equating the lateness of a magazine delivery with meals being two days late or a paycheck being two weeks late? It's NOT / I repeat / N O T a life altering event. We've got two magazines out there, and I will take EITHER one when I can get it , late or not, but it won't affect my life(late meal) or my credit rating (paycheck)If you're so behind on bills that a 'late' paycheck will have your power turned off ,get you evicted,or have your car reposessed, then you casn't afford the dang magazine ANYWAY! Sometimes we get our priorities mixed ! the'Z'man,on the way down to the hobby bench to chop the top on somethin.......... -
I never realized how nice this kit was !....Now I'm going to have to find one....or several !

Ed Fluck used to cast the ront and back bumpers for the R/M 65 Chevelle with the bumperettes removed, but I don't know if they're still available.

Torch Red Equivalent
Steven Zimmerman replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Duplicolor has discontinued torch red. It is not available in the larger'new' cans,as I was informed when I contacted their representative. It IS still available online,if you do a Google search for it. I bought 6 cans of it on Amazon.com. for less then I used to pay at the auto parts store INCLUDING shipping......Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man -
We did pretty much the same thing when I was a kid in the early sixties. I lived in a small town named Cornell,in Illinois about 90 mi. south of Chicago. We raced ours on the concrete sidewalk and the blacktopped playground, out behind the grade school gym - about a 300 foot run. Mostly we raced the newer(at the time) Impalas,Mercuries,Thunderbirds, the cars with metal axles and runner tires........
