  1. REALLY like this, Just a well designed, well put together concept....'Z'
  2. dangit, where's the 'like' button on here....
  3. I guess I lead a sheltered life; I have NEVER seen an 'off the shelf' diecast that looked as good as some of the models I've seen....
  4. Here....we....GO....again.....WAITAMINUTE, lemmee go make some popcorn....And, for the record, I thought Pat worded it well.
  5. If you're careful, and the bit isn't long enough, you can drill from both ends. Its easy once you get the hang of it. I do this with every rear axle housing I build....'Z'
  6. Huh ? what did I miss ? the 38 coupster has been out for ages, I have a couple in the box , sittin in my stash....This kit is EXACTLY as what's shown in thepics...?...'Z'
  7. When I saw the first pic, I thought you were doing a Diorama of an old abandoned truck in the snow ! ...(GRIN)...BTW, nice save ....'Z'
  8. I have one of these (Iron Horse) in the box; I guess I will have to take a closer look at it. ...'Z'
  9. You lost me here. Are you saying it's not purple ?.....or, just not the shade of purple you wanted ?
  10. If there were any errors in the master- knowing Darin's work- i believe he would have fixed them, by the time it hit the contest/display tables. Sometimes' errors are in the eye of the beholder, so to speak. I once mastered a 79 'phantom sedan delivery for Ed Fluck, and the first time he displayed it, someone ripped it to pieces....wheelbase too long, wheelwells too high in the body, roof too low, doors too long....Ed's answer ?....it's a PHANTOM, on WHAT are you basing your comments ?.....Guy shut up.... (Actually, Ed's language...was a LITTLE more 'colorfull )....'Z'
  11. Jairus, where did you get that wire wheel insert ?....i have been hunting for wheels like that for a long time....'Z'
  12. Best resin tires I ever saw. Bar none. ...'Z'
  13. Beaners is your 'old school' hobby shop, A little hole in the wall shop, with a little bit of everything...old and new kits, a good stock of evergreen/plastruct, glue, paint, a smattering of photo etch, and an AWESOME cat.....The Hobby lobby is your average hobby lobby, and has a 40% off online coupon...generally has ain stock everything available in their online catalog; some airbrushes, good stock of paint, resin making supplies, and a small selection of K&S stuff. Take your wife, she will enjoy it. A.C.Moore has a few models, and Michaels has a fair selection, and also has a 40% of weekly coupon. A.C. Moore, Michaels, and Hobby lobby are all wihin a couple miles of each other / A.C. and Michaels are in the millcreek mall, and Hobby Lobby is due east on Peach street, on the left, in the same plaza as Home Depot, Walmart, Lowes...if you hit the I-90 overpass, you've gone too far. Beaners is in Wesleyville on Buffalo road, call him for exact location....'Z'
  14. Spray Westley's Bleche White on those brown tires and scrub them, and they dry....BLACK! Too many years working a second job as an auto detailer to believe any differant, plus 40 years of washing and putting armor All or its equivalent on white lettered tires in my driveway once a week to say differant........'Z'
  15. One thing we seem to overlook as modellers is 'shiny tires'....Despite the millions of bottles of Armor-all, Formula 2000, 'Tire shine' and others, we hardly ever see this replicated on our models....I have had judges tell me at a show that my tires were 'unrealistic' because they had too much shine....My reply, Did you ever look at the tires on a well kept pro touring, pro street, or street rodded car, or go to a car show ? Anyway, most of my tires are glossy....'Z'
  16. Kudos to these fellers for the white lettered tires; I also would love to see these sold seperately!
  17. I design all my builds so the frame or floor panel is retained by plastic channels, and usually 'snaps' into place. My hoods are usually held down by miniature magnets recessed into the body, with small pieces of steel pin countersunk into the hood....works fer me...'Z'
  18. My opinion, no matter what you do, it will still show.
  19. I work with resin every day, resin has nowhere NEAR the elastic properties, and will snap or crack rather than bend, but other than that, is similar to plastic, except for 3 things (off the top of my head) (1) glue formulated fo plastics don't work, you need 'superglue' or epoxy. (2)resin is impervious to lacquer, and (3)...Most resin turns to a blob when immersed in the 'purple pond'
  20. Check out the variety of paintbrushes offered at your local craft or art supply store. Look for one with short, stiff bristles, this is what I use....'Z'
  21. I am fairly experienced in working with resin also, and have never had a problem with bleche white. That is what most resin casters reccommend. I don't soak it overnight, asIi believe it's strong enough to do the job in an hour or two, and then I scrub with soap and water, taking care not to use a soap containingsilicone, then scrub the resin down with comet and water, then water, then dry with paper towels, then air dry over night. I have never had fish eye, paint lift, wrinkle, or craze when using this system. i paint with an airbrush, detail gun, or can and have used this with acrylic enamel, automotive lacquer, dupli color cans,Krylon,Rustoleum, and basecoat/clearcoat automotive paint...Having said that, Matt has a point, that being 'whatever works for you'. I'm sure there are forum members out there who don't subscribe to EITHER theory (GRIN)....
  22. I thought the same thing when he mentioned 'prime first'..BUT the new automotive spot fillers actually adhere better to primer than resin, and they recommend applying over primer. As usual, be sure you clean the resin with bleche white, or whatever the caster recommends to remove the parting agent, or you will have problems down the line....'Z'
  23. I would suggest going back in 'freehand' and adding more highlights with a lighter blue, or white Also do the same thing with a darker blue, or black to tone down areas to give it more contrast.... You have to remember, the whole look will change with clear....'Z'
  24. Most aftermarket businesses promise delivery in 4 to 6 weeks.Anything less then that is EXEMPLARY service... I take issue with these people who get upset because they don't get their order within a week or so, especially at this time of the year with the holiday rush at the post office. ANYTHING going through the mail nowadays takes longer, that's just a fact of life we have to live with....Considering the tremendous volume of mail that's moved daily, i think they do a fair job, too.....off my soap box, Steven Zimmerman
  25. You owe it to the great unwashed masses to cast it ....(GRIN)
