Gotta disagree. Stance refers to the 'attitude' of a vehicle, whether it's raised, lowered, up in front and down in the rear, down in the front and up in the rear, or whatever. A stock vehicle has stance ALL vehicles have stance...

Go out and buy TWO of these, they are relatively cheap....Use one for a contour gage, take the other one apart for the BIG bunch of steel rods, for scratchbuilding;pinning frames and parts, applying superglue or accelerator, and myriads of other uses.....'Z'

"Stance" has always been around, and it doesn't apply just to Tuners....Every car out there has STANCE...Pro touring, Pro street . Low riders. High Roller monster trucks....ALL have STANCE.......

I Want to Make Resin Tires
Steven Zimmerman replied to coopdad's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
At hobby Lobby, you can get the Alumalite casting kit for around 80 bucks; with a 40% off coupon ( available on line) that brings it down to about48 bucks. You can also buy their 'Amazing resin,' for about 15 bucks, which is a white resin with fewer air bubbles than their regular resin. They have 2 differant molding compounds at Hobby Lobby; the 'pink' stuff does not hold up as well (compared to their other compound), but is easier to work with.Being more flesible, cured items pop out more easily.... I know there are better products out there, but i've been using this 'Amazing Resin' for about a year now, and have probably produced 2000 resin castings with it, and am quite happy.... Only caveat; heat the molds up in a micro wave for 30 - 40 seconds immediately before pouring ( this is covered in their instructions) if you are pouring small items, like wheels. It self generates heat to cure completely and small items don't creat enough heat to 'kick' ......'Z' -

OK, Joseph, now complete YOUR point. Advertising. (can't sell them if nobody knows about them, have you priced an ad in the mags lately ?), packaging ( not just those little plastic bags, but the printing of all those little 'how to use photo etch' inserts plus the 'cover printing.Someone trims those photo etch frets from the master fret, someone packages them up, someone pays to print the catalog, Shipping. Cost of renting a table at hobby shows....postage and related costs. Now, II realise these arent mind numbing espenses, but they do add up. And I'm not sure, but i don't know if a run of 200 meets the supplier's minimum or not. And you're assuming sales of all two hundred, not necessarily a given, no matter what you think.I work hand in hand with a resin caster; what happens when that body he casts 50 of; because he thinks it will sell like hotcakes....doesn't sell at all ?...( it DOES happen).... -
Tryin out New stuff : embossing powder
Steven Zimmerman replied to bryan_m's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
When using embossing powder, after it is applied, and dried, I go over it and coat the powder with clear flat or semi gloss acrylic clear. It will not change the appearance whatsoever, but greatly enhances it'd durability factor, and insures that none will 'float' around your interior, after you have finished assembly...Embossing powder, while much less apt to become dislodged (like flocking)...on occasion, it WILL....'Z' -

I would respectfully suggest you research what gos into creating / producing a fret of photo etched product.A resin caster can put a casting on the market for an initial outlay, while not cheap, but much cheaper than photo etch.He has to either pay for, or produce his own master, and then put it in rubber, then cast, clean up and sell...Usually for less then 500 bucks ( give or take). Photo etch ?...Artwork may cost you several hundred dollars, and then you have to have a 'first run' fromyour photo etch person, which usually runs between 1200-1500 dollars. For a 'cottage industry' fella, the initial outlay can be 4 or 5 times the initial outlay for a resin caster. Now, I'm not knocking resin casters here, but just pointing the differance in expenditures, and how it may affect what you decide to offer in your product line....'Z' -

Using toothpaste
Steven Zimmerman replied to martinfan5's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
We used to use it to rub out a paint job, like polishing compound. Also used to use baby powder. With the advent of paint polishes for modellers, this mostly'went away'...... -
GREAT job on a hard to build, fiddly kit. I don't recall ever seeing one completed...Again, fantastic job !....'Z'
