  1. This is degenerating into a name calling contest ; If you cannot be civil , DON'T POST............
  2. I don't quite understand....You're alloted -one 'thought' per month ?...or one' T-shirt'..........(Hey,its early....) In all seriousness,I think the signature would be great, but I think everybody should have a MODEL CARS shirt (I LOVED the black ones....makes me look 'less fat').....
  3. Sorry about the double post...........
  4. Ya know, you posted on 8-11 about an ill fitting hood, and got a good response(14 replies, including yours/how does that translate into being ignored? ) I saw nothing there that could be construed as a 'put down';over all I thought it was an informative thread...Am I missing something here?
  5. Hose in the ?....uh,I aint TOUCHIN that line (grin).................
  6. I've never seen a resin C cab,but it should be easy to scratchbuild,though...
  7. Maybe you're just paranoid,or overly sensitive,or have an inferiority complex......it's a big, wide, nasty world out there,son........Methinks you read too much into things?
  8. Are you implying Gregg is solid rock from ear to ear?(I didn't say that....)
  9. Mike,those are both SHARP !
  10. Big scale, small scale-it doesn't matter at all to me one way or another. However,it DOES bother me to hear a 'big scale guy' cry about all the scratchbuilding they have to do;while he bitches about how all the 'small scale' guys have to do is buy a ton of photo etch and glue it on.....A lil bit of reverse bigotry here,I do believe?
  11. I would go with the 'Goodyear' slicks; also I would at least think about extending the lower body panel with a piece of sheet plastic 9kind of opposite of sectioning) to lessen ground clearance....
  12. HO boy,I'm likin this un.....yup,character is a good word.......
  13. I LIKE where this is going......
  14. When I was 18,I had a car accident and broke my left Femur and lost a lot of my left foot; to fix the Femur, they drilled a hole the length of the bone and drove in a pina half inch in dia. and 19 inches long.......Then a year later, they went back in and removed it. Funny thing,5 weeks in the hospital, enough pain killing drugs to kill an elephant,3 major operations;thhe total bill was 2200 bucks...........what would that cost today? (Don't EVEN wanna know what Gregg's bills were).........'Z' BTW,when I woke up from the second operation there was an envelope laying on my chest- it was my DRAFT NOTICE.............
  15. Those 'flared aluminium pieces' are available in packs of 100 at most craft stores like Michaels or Jo Annes Fabric-can't remember what they're called. Also, thev're not quite correct. Get a car mag like Street Rod or Rod n Custom, look at the ads for this type of thing. Very easy to do with straight aluminum tubing.....
  16. Have you thought about using airbags?....these can easily be scratchbuilt usingsmall rubber 'o'rings from the hardware store and aluminium or styrene tubing..and if you do them as 'Shockwave' bags, they have an integral shock,so you don't need to add shocks........
  17. I just cover the whole photo etched emblem/seatbelt/etc. with black sharpie marker (permanent) then buff the piece with the BACK of a piece of wet or dry sandpaper. same results as paint, but quicker, and the sharpie is thinner.....................
  18. Mikes Miniatures used to cast a 65 Chevelle 2 door sedan delivery, using the AMT 65 El Camino body and the AMT wagon roof. This was done back in1991. The 64 2 door wagon you got from F&F was this body with the 64 fenders from an AMT 64 Chevelle rafted on; the 1/1 bodies are identical except for the front ends(as far as I could tell). Ed Fluck also cast a 66 Chevelle 2 door wagon, using the Lindberg Elky and the roof from the resin 65 2 door wagon body; the roof had to be widened to mate up with the Elky body. Ed also offers a 65 2 door wagon body based on th RM 65 Z/16 body, and the roof and tops of the rear quarter panelsand the tailgate from the resin 64 wagon body. The roof and tailgate had to be widened for this . Race Motor Replicas also casts a 67 Chevelle 2 door wagon body based on the 66 2 door wagon, and includes a cowl hood and an interior bucket. All of these were mastered by me. When Mikes Miniature Motors went out of business due to Mikes death, the molds were acquired by Modelhaus. Jimmy Flintstone also offers a 65 2 door wagon based on the old AMT stuff, and Modelhaus once had the 67 ChevyImpala cast as a 4 door wagon and a 2 door sedan delivery, but I don't know if they are currently available. The wagon I have on the model bench now is the F&F 65 that was based on the Z/16,with sedan delivery panels added, and with a mildly chopped top and a cowl hood; the chrome trim at the bottom of the doors and wheel well trim has been removed, and the bumperettes have been removed from the bumpers.(wouldn't clear tailgate on the 1/1) I've channelled the body over an AMT 67 Chevelle pro street frame with an AMT nascar front suspension/ frame grafted on from the firewall forward, running 18" and 21" ralley wheels. I hope to finish this un for Toledo this fall
  19. Hey,I mastered that wagon for Ed Sr. many, many moons ago. I'd forgotten about it,'til now. I'm working on a 65 2 door sedan delivery based on the R/M 65 Z/16,and the roof from that 64.........
  20. For those who're interested, check out the Chevelle ragtop on the cover of sept. SUPER CHEVY mag..............
  21. Ya know,I had two random thoughts on this one, just as food for thought(grin)....(1),If you /as a judge/ use a magnifier on ONE model,is if fair if you did not then have to use a magnifier on ALL models you judge?....and (2) if the judges use magnifiers at a contest, then should all who enter said contest as participants or spectators,be issued magnifiers at the door? especially if they have a peoples choice trophy?....not advocating this, mind you....just throwin it out for yah(grin0.....personally,I have 20/200 vision(meaning I'm practally BLIND without glasses-when I was in second grade, didn't know signs had WORDS on em till I got my first pair of glasses.......) but I build with my glasses off. I personally agree with Art here, but I thinkyou're carryin it a bit too far,Art..Got more to say,but the Da&n dog hasta go out.....'Z'
  22. I'm interpreting this to mean an AVERAGE of 2 hours a week;makes a big differance. For instance,if you modelled 10 hours in one week and then did not touch a model for a month, your 'average' for 5 weeks would still be 2 hours a week over the 5 week period........I always thought 'averages' were misleading, and don't give a true picture-unfortunately,we've been brainwashed in this country to accept this(not a slam, just my take) My Dad used to say that a man with one foot in the refrigerator and one foot in the oven was'ON AVERAGE'....quite comfortable!(grin)....Steve Zimmerman
  23. The roof ribs are only 'half' there, the roof is higher on the passenger side, the rear window is taller on one side, the 'B' pillars are wavy, the quarter panels are REALLY wavy, especially around the vents, the rear side windows have a dip at the body line, the tail lights are molded in and not well done, the headlights are also molded in which is too bad, because they didn't need to be; half the drip moldings are missing. This thing will take a lot of work to be anywhere NEAR a nice model..........good luck! I'm not a great model builder, but I'm not half bad,and this will be a bear to straighten out.I think what bothers me the most is,with just a little more careful work this could have been a good resin cast piece...................Steve Zimmerman
  24. I have R&R's Vega wagon. I would not purchase another. Steven Zimmerman
