  1. The "Two-Cycle" has been found. It is in the storage facility of a museum. The engines are indeed Kawasakis. That's all I know for now. I did write back to the guy who gave me that information. I also got some parts to start a model of twin engine trike. Not a replica, but one with similar layout. I got a pair of Tamiya Suzuki Hayabusas for their engines. Back tires are from a Muscle Machines caricature car (they look just about right for fat tires in 1/12). I do like the wing on the original, but I'm thinking of one mounted higher, inspired by Don Garlts' aero dragster from the 1980s; mono support with aerodynamic fairing around it. Maybe two more mini-wings near the engines. Something like some funny cars had in the 1970s, or old F-1 cars had on their noses.

    1930 Model A

I opened this expecting a street rod. Nice stock buildup.
  3. Things like extended swing arms, nitrous bottles, fat tires, etc. I got a couple of Hayabusas for their engines. A couple of curbside customs would be cool. Thanks.
  4. It's also a case of not being able to please all of the people all of the time. I could post about how Revell is making a huge mistake by not offering it exactly the way I want it, but with all this kit offers, it's hard to complain. I can already imagine kitbashing one with AMT's '29 Tudor sedan. I can also imagine people using the Trade forum to swap more parts to and from this kit. Someone in this thread mentioned the lack of a traditional engine. If he means flathead, I'd be happy to send one in trade for that nailhead. This kit blows away the old "2 in 1" kits from the 1960s. Great building options, plus 50 years of molding tech advancement.
  5. Is the Off from Etzel's Speed Classics a 255?
  6. This is just plain awesome. I think I will buy more than one. I do love the "AV8", but I think the '32 Chassis would be great with a rebody. Lots of choices. I think it will be a big seller. Just...wow. Ooh! Drop in the Offy from their Midget racer! Heck yeah!
  7. I had a weird idea that was inspired by a hot wheels car. The Twin Mill got me thinking of twin mid engines with the front of the car looking something like the old Wolfrace Sonic show car. The engines would a pair of superdetailed Cosworth DFVs from the 1/8 scale Lotus 72D. The tail end could just be tube chassis and drive train. Maybe '70s-style wing in polished aluminum. Cockpit could have a speedster windshield that wraps around, or a bubble with "solid" top to keep inside temps down.
  8. I have the High Planes kit. I really wish they would make a 1/48 Miss Ashley II. It would also be cool to do some "what if" Griffon Mustangs.
  9. Because man, it would be so cool to graft that Griffon Seafire nose and props on a P-51D/K. Ooh! Even better! A 1/18 contra-prop Seafire! Yeah!
  10. I don't know of a kit, but a moderator at Hotrodders.com was working on a scratchbuilt 1/8 Mysterion, along with a full-size replica. Here's a link to an old post with one photo of the model in progress. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/roths-mysterion-mystery-solved-41412.html I do not know the status of the model now.
  11. Neato. The only other currently-serving tanks I know of in 1/16 are Tamiya's Leopard 1 and 2...and they are not cheap. The T-72 will be made by Trumpeter. I might have to splurge when it hits the stores. Edited to add M1A1. I did some searching for the T-72 and saw they will also be releasing an M1A1. That is the tank I served on when I was in the Army. Definitely getting one of those.
  12. Whoa. I had to go back and read all of the first post. I thought you were stripping paint with India Pale Ale. Cool car, BTW.
  13. I remember seeing pictures of the real thing back in the '80s. Bizarre, but cool. The listing said the resin bodies were made by Meri for Tron, but the kit never saw production. I have since found out that ABC Brianza make a complete kit, but hey, these two resin bodies were a steal. Now I need some 1/43 Borranis. Pic of the real car:
  14. I'm surprised this one hasn't shown up in this thread yet. It's a race car with a Hispano-Suiza aircraft V-8 cut down to a 366ci inline-4. It was in Hot Rod magazine not long ago. And a link to the story at Hot Rod Magazine's website: http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/1412-half-off-special-hisso-roadster/ If you haven't picked up Hot Rod in a while, check it out. IMHO, it's awesome. The best it's been in ages.
  15. I was looking for info on this at one time. That thing is pretty wild, and it's great to see that it has been restored. I wanted to build a trike inspired by the "Two-Cycle". It has a pair of 2-stroke 3-cylinders, possibly both fed by one turbocharger. (info on it is very hard to find) I talked to a guy who builds real choppers and asked if this could be built and ridden on the street. He said it was likely for show only. Rake is way too extreme. The concept could work with a few tweaks to the design, though. Raise the seat and tame that rake. A push-button shifter could be had that will shift two transmissions with the push of one button. Imagine a pair of Hayabusa engines. That would be SO WILD.
  16. I have read that the Merlin in the Airfix 1/24 P-51D/K is more detailed than Trumpeter's much newer version. Tamiya's 1/32 P-51D has gotten great reviews. Its engine looks great, but the price is pretty steep. About $170 in hobby shops. I have one of those Merlins, but I got it from a guy who built the plane without it. TDR offer a 3-D printed Allison in 1/8, but it is $282.50, IIRC. Quad Al would be wild in 1/8, but I wouldn't want to pay for it. Jim Lytle, builder of Big Al, the Isetta, and Quad Al, also built a White 3000 truck powered by an Allison. Its engine was exposed, behind the cab. That could be done fairly easily in 1/24 or 1/32. Maybe even 1/48. I believe Revell did a fuel truck in 1/48 with a White tractor.
  17. I've lived in this house for 9 years and 9 months. I have never received anything damaged in my mailbox. Obviously people who send me stuff are more careful than those slobs in Colorado. Right?
  18. I have never received a damaged issue. It's not just you, it's all the guys who act like it's the publisher's fault that their magazine shows up damaged. The publisher...or magazine staff... Don't give instructions to "tear up that guy's copy".
  19. I'm on year 3 of a subscription. I have never received a damaged issue. Obviously, Gregg likes me better. Of course I'm joking. Blaming Gregg & co for what happens after the magazine leaves the publisher is retarded.
  20. Are they reissuing the 250LM "Wacky Racer"?
  21. . Look for old issues of Motor Racing Replica News. I believed it was in print for most or all of the 1990s, maybe beyond 2000.
  22. A weird side effect; the smell coming through my skin. It has happened before, but with this crazy amount of garlic, the smell is like cutting fluid (oil) that we use when threading gas pipe. It's a stinky industrial smell. So bizarre.
