  1. that's not organization - it's self-control! gotta get me some
  2. i may have to ponder that a bit before it sinks in, but you've given me food for thought - thanks
  3. it can't hurt. i've spent too much time looking for something, buying another, then finding the first.
  4. won't that make the panels recessed a couple of scale inches? you may end up adding a panel shaped like the recess to your backer piece or cutting a rebate around the panel hole so the filler will set closer to the surface, but that might be a major pain. the good thing is that you could finish the framing, and the panels, before joining, then have no border cutting in to do - assuming you'll use light/ dark wood combination.
  5. helpful pictures but of course questions are always waiting.... Q1. - i get how the ball end gadget allows the wheel to steer, but what (internal workings) allows power transmission? Q2. - what advantage (except housing the mechanicals) does the oversized hub contribute? this might be better directed to a stock car (2wd) front end. thanks
  6. they don't individually, but stacked up i'll assume they're correct. picture robbed from VanPelt Sales; great flathead reference site: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_specs-90to125late.htm
  7. small living requires small storage: it's taboret style, within arm's reach of my desk so i can pull it from a seated position. also, the lighted top with cutting mat is helpful for working standing up (casters lock). i tend to get a dead end from sitting after an hour or so. supplies adjacent. kit stash is downstairs in the entry. treasure chest of "almost finished" kits.
  8. great cars & videos. Q; if AMT or Revell has to go through hoops just to make a Firestone tire or Chevrolet, how did the Argentine company get the green light to manufacture replicas? simply pay the Estate a gazillion dollars?
  9. from here: https://shoeboxford.wordpress.com/
  10. some of the website is, too. but i put it in the wrong thread! quite a guy, huh?
  11. https://shoeboxford.wordpress.com/2011/03/17/1949-ford-lost-photo-sessions-%E2%80%93-5-2/ i needed to move this to the '49 merc/ ford woody conversion thread - oops!
  12. i hear that. here's what i woke up to this morning, and no end in sight!

  14. are you using Internet Explorer as a browser? if so, go to the Tools pulldown/ select "compatibility views" / a box will open and you can "OK" the forum address. refresh your screen (f5 key) and it might allow you to clip & paste. i ended up switching browsers to Google Chrome, and many of my internet glitches vanished. if an old fogey like me can change, so can you!
  15. somewhere i read "... when your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail..." i don't think of motortools as a go-to tool, but sometimes it's the only one that'll get a job done. never had much use for the sanding drums, but burr grinders can be helpful getting into spots denied by other tools. this type is handy: remember, you're only cutting plastic. these tools work on low torque/ high rpm. rate of feed controls the difference between cutting and melting. practice on something other than the grand trophy winner!
  16. i have both the above book and a companion British Woodies. certainly can't vouch for the integrity of content, but do enjoy the pretty pictures.
  17. ... don't you rock me, daddio...
  18. the rifle explains why the "cat so flat". reminds me of the first thing i ever bought from an advertisement on the back cover of a comic book. for a mere 50 cents (1958 cents, probably 20 bucks now), i could have an entire foot locker of action soldiers. after a bit of finagling of the finances, Mom gave me the okay to order. well, when i got my foot locker, it was the cardboard shipping box about the size of an animal crackers box, the action soldiers were flatter than the cat. they had bases but were pretty much two-dimensional. i guess it was the perfect battle tactic because if turned sideways, they couldn't be seen by the enemy.
  19. don't touch the stuff myself, but it sounds like surface tension. maybe add a drop of dishwashing detergent to your misting water?
  20. if nothing else, it's a positive thread.
  21. i'm gonna have to practice that in private! thanks
