  1. I always have used the cheapo Walmart flat tans and greys for base interiors and used military flats for details. Speaking of that you can find a lot of military colors in the hobby shop in both sprays and brush type that look good as interior colors. For interiors that are body color you can spray them with the body paint and then put a dull coat on them. Just my .02...
  2. It is still a great kit and has been re-released a few times. I think the last was a Revell Germany release that they called simply the Offshore Power Boat. I had the original version back when they first came out and somewhere along the line I lost it. The kit is easy to build, seems pretty accurate and turns out a nice shelf model. It measures about 13 inches. The engines are molded into a bucket that comprises the engine room. With a little detail painting they look good. I really can't think of anything bad to say about it except I wish there was a 1/24 scale version to go with the MV Testarossa and Daytona! It practically falls together as they say. Plus it gave me the chance to research all the cool boats on the internets. Now if I could just find my old white linen sit and pastel T-shirt!
  3. I came across this a while back and saved it to favorites. Some of yo may have seen it. It is the restoration of a 1970 Chevelle race car from a rust bucket to original. I was at Hobby Lobby and they had the Pepsi Nascar model on clearance for 8 bucks. I bought the last two they had and a snap kit 1970 Chevelle. Don't know when I'll get to it, but I hope it will be soon. http://www.dirtfans.com/RebirthofaGIANT.html
  4. I finally got something to the point were I can call it done for now. Still a few details left, but good enough. It is the original MIami VIce boat that was released in the mid 80s. Found it in a consignment shop here in Austin along with the followup non MV German release. Bought both for 20 bucks. The Vice boat's decals were to dried out so I had a sign shop scan them and print them on vinyl. The paint is Tamiya. Could have done better on it but I just wanted to get something done.
  5. Now that I think about it someone used to offer a 58 wagon of some sort. Either Modelhaus or Jimmy Flintstone.
  6. The good thing about luggage is that it is easy to scratchbuild. Even a fumblefingers like me can do it. i have used a piece of balsa or bass wood of the right thickness and cut it to shape and covered it with contact paper, with a little detailing, it came out okay. Some of the Tamiya 1/35 accessory packs for military figures will have duffle bags and such that can be used as well. Also Hobbylinc has this, though it shows out of stock, you might search by stock # and find some. http://www.hobbylinc.com/preiser-assorted-luggage-model-railroad-building-accessory-g-scale-45218
  7. Actually the Del Rio was another of my purchases. I have a weakness for wagons! I have also been working (slowly) on a Miami Vice Scarab boat that I got at a consignment sale. I found and bought one of the non-Miami Vice versions they had as well. I paid a lot to have a local sign shop to duplicate the decals since the originals are not usable. Ahhh, reliving my youth!
  8. Thanks for all the comments. I can see how these would be hard to copy in resin! Alan if you PM me an address, I would be happy to send a money order for whatever the expense would be.
  9. I wonder if Styrene Addiction Center has a hot line? It probably redirects your call to Model Expo or someplace like that. LOL
  10. For what it is worth, I also did the 1934 Ford pickups the same way.
  11. Thanks for the interest. I like to build two models at the same time. I built two of the Revell 29 A Pickup closed tops as stock and hot rod variants. Now I want to do the open top in the same way.
  12. It has been a while since I have bought any kits. Living in an apartment, we just don't have the storage room, much less building room. That being said, we went to Dallas a few weeks ago and I stopped by Wild Bill's Hobby. It is one of the old line hobby shops, the kind you just don't see anymore. I got a couple of kits and then when I got home, I found the reissued F150 Ranger kit at King's here in Austin. Later I found another at Hobby Lobby and since then I've gotten the 1972 Blazer and a couple of others. My wife hasn't noticed the kits starting to stack up yet.
  13. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but here goes. I would really like a few sets of stock wire wheels and tires of the type that comes in AMT's and Revell's Model A Woodie kits. I have searched but can't come up with any other than buying complete kits. Does anyone make such a thing or would it be cheaper to just buy a full kit? Any ideas would be welcome!
  14. Looks really good!
  15. I got 2 of the 1982 F150s. Been waiting for these for a while.
  16. Looks great, like something Buckaroo Banzai would drive!
  17. Looks good!
  18. Sorry, I just meant as a stock delivery vehicle.
  19. If they sell it I will buy! I have reached the age where nostalgia compels me to buy and build the models of my youth. I was 7 or so when these came out and love them.
  20. Tastes in cars and entertainment are always an individual thing. Fords over Chevies, Aston Martin over Ferrari. In entertainment, I prefer the Stooges over the Marx Brothers, Mary Ann to Ginger and the Munsters to the Addams Family. But that's just me...
  21. I love it! Wonder how much work it would be to make a stock version?
  22. Here are the ones I have finished. The orange one was patterned from a picture of the one that came with the AMT 63 Nova. The red and white one was going to be a teardrop cargo trailer and the one in front is a regular teardrop camper. The purple one's body came from the 38? Ford by Monogram so it is only partially scratch built.
  23. Is the 23 T Panel Delivery the one that used to be the Budweiser delivery?
