  1. Looking good mate, colour scheme is great
  2. This will be interesting, looking forward to seeing things taking shape.
  3. Theres a few other pictures of it on the interweb and it looks like it's been a rigid truck with a drawbar trailer but ive never seen anything like it. It is like it's trying to be a European truck.
  4. While we're on, look at this!!! What is going on here? It's like a Peterbilt Rubik's cube! Everything 180 degrees out
  5. The kit bumper is too wide, too flat and too thin. Other than that it's great! The type of truck I'm going for in this build would look better with the smaller bumper, maybe even painted chassis colour...🤔
  6. As I've said I'm limited at the moment but I'm determined to get something done on this job if I can. I decided to section the bumper and realised that if I cut carefully I could just remove a section right across and reattach it to the grille. I managed it but had to separate the two when I fitted the grille properly as it pulled the bumper too far up. For now I've just used tape to hang the bumper lower down. I am much happier with the appearance already, it just needs more shaping. I wanted to recess the grille which I did by spacing the mounting plate out with plastic sheet, fairly straightforward. I felt the kit tanks were too long but I didn't have all the materials around to make my own so I endeavoured to alter the kit pieces. I cleaned the joints and solidly glued the halves together. After that was set I used the moulded welds on the end plates as a guide to cut the ends off, then I cut the tank down flush with the brackets. I de-tapered the brackets by filing and filed a recess in the top of the brackets for a more life-like appearance. Reassembled and I think they look grand! The shorter tanks emphasize the long frame as I wanted. I'm not happy with my fifth wheel now. Sorry, no reefers today.
  7. What an excellent job! Looks very realistic with the weathering you've done. Glad you got the cab to sit down properly and tilt still. Nice to see the little points that differ from the Pete and make it a Hayes. You can be very proud of yourself with this build.
  8. Just spectacular. I think my dad drove one in the late 50s in Malaya (as it was then known) during his British national service. I'll have to see if I can find the picture.
  9. Nice build there Lee, photo is great too, looks like it's actually on the road!
  10. Very good looking machine, great use of metallic orange too! Well done. What colour have you got lying around now?
  11. That just a fantastic looking truck. Always loved these things and that paint scheme, just such a striking set of stripes. Your work is so clean and precise. I wish there were more of these around in kit form and in reality.
  12. Thanks for the kind words. My work pales into insignificance alongside some of the jobs I see on here. It was a challenge but I think either of my two W900s were harder. The Aerodyne because I decided to open the hood and build a Cummins and then Sonny Pruitt's truck because it was such an important truck to me.
  13. A much better modeller... on blood pressure medication.
  14. These are masterpieces! When you consider how much scratch building has been involved, they're amazing.
  15. So sorry to see the shenanigans with the cab. It's the kind of thing you can't really do much about until you're at that stage and everything you've worked so hard on is in place. I'm sure you'll save the day. Don't let it grind you down.
  16. Looks great with the Wilson. Great stance.
  17. That's a good looking build mate. Wheels make all the difference. Are they from the Volvo N10 kit they did?
  18. It never is! Looks great though.
  19. Your patience will pay dividends.
  20. This is excellent stuff! Great work!
  21. What a brute of a truck! Great stuff.
  22. That's a proper little chunky monkey! Looks great.
  23. Great to see this back on the go, good mixing and matching on the parts.
  24. Yes, the grill is different and the GMC has a tarp on the sleeper roof whereas the Chevy has a wind deflector. The decals carry all the hood badges.
  25. One of the unsung heroes of the road. One day people will be dragging them out of fields to preserve them!
