  1. I believe if you look, all or most have morphed over to the Model Master line.
  2. Personally, I can't comment on this as I have no idea of your skill level. The archer transfer IS a decal. You apply it as a decal and use decal solvent to help the film dissolve. All that's left is the resin detail.
  3. "Sadly, the stretch method often 'flattens' the roofline of a Beetle......I've heard many 1:1 customizers compare it to chopping an egg. the link below shows a very nice step-by-step done by Chris Clark Customs" On this chop, can the rear fenders be used? It looks like it to me. The fenders on this bug are molded on. I could scribe and remove them if that makes any difference.
  4. There are other sources. Define way to high. Price is all relative to your disposable income.
  5. I remember them well and they airbrushed really nice when decanted. I think they were supposed to mimic 1:1 car colors popular in the day. I believe I have a few cans kickin' around here. Who remembers Gray Fern Metallic and Mist Gray Metallic.
  6. "Another superb museum piece. But where are the air bags? '" And what about rear view mirrors, seatbelts... and ...and.... Seriously good build and shows some truly great craftsmanship. ,
  7. "The nice thing about doing this stuff in plastic is that you can get pretty close, and finish your crown with filler...sometimes what would be scale INCHES thick filler, and totally unacceptable on a 1:1." Can you also do that with plastic, laminating thin sheets to build it up? I like slinging putty, but .....
  8. Thanks again Dan, If I get anywhere with these two I may get inspired to get back to the 1/16th Predicta.
  9. Thanks again Ira.
  10. Thanks Ira, I hope the finish is too!
  11. Hey! That poster has a sense of humor, check the name.
  12. No Len just the sandpaper. Magic-Sculpt I got from ebay. I see everyone always talking up Milliput. That stuff is great, but oh so expensive. I bought 5 lbs of Magic-Sculpt for $30.00! I use it for all the heavy work, sand it then use the polyester 2-part to glaze over it.
  13. I got a 1/16th VW and it's sort of a parts kit, but there are plenty of parts. I thought chop the top, put in the engine from a 959 and go salt flats!! someone already cut (neatly) a hole in the roof so it should be easy to split into 4 sections to get a neat look. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
  14. I'll toss in Andy Lemble (sp). He sent me the '63 Chevy asymmetrical hood and some parts. I offered him a kit and turned it down! GOOD GUY
  15. Well this and the SR-2 have been kicking my butt. My best friend has been Magic-sculpt putty and 60 grit sandpaper. Glad I get my sandpaper and other stuff cheap from retiree sales at 3M
  16. Thanks KB. Check out the 1/16th X-SONIC WIP in the big scale section also.
  17. If you pin it, that would allow you to adjust the rest as the glue dries . You could then glue the pinned part last. Have not built this so I'm just guessing. BTW ,THAT's the way to ask a question about kit assembly queries. Posting the instructions was genius!!
  18. Thanks Andy!
  19. No Len, It wasn't very pretty. I think I wrapped the kit shell with a length of sheet plastic to make the extended length, then some Magic-sculpt putty, lots of sanding and I wrapped the inner shell with some brass to smooth it out on the inside. I thought the nose was tough enough, but the headrest/tailfin is really kicking my butt, I'm on my third attempt! The kit's grille teeth fit just fine by sanding them down a bit on each side. Thanks for the kind words. I was leery about posting these two as WIP
  20. Great! I just acquired a 1/16th Beetle parts kit.Been wondering what to do and as I have a Fujimi Porsche 959 kit or two, I was thinking of putting that engine in it. If those parts become availablekeep us informedplease.
  21. BOO-YAH!! Looks like something NHRA wouldn't allow anymore. Nice work!!
  22. That's the second or third Mopar I've seen utilizing the Viper chassis/running gear. Your scratched frame looked great! Also the A pillar repair didn't look too bad either!
