  1. I second that on the double -action. Most have a way to adjust the paint flow function and then all you do is press down on the trigger for the air. Like someone once told me "if you can swim in shallow water, you can swim in deep water too".
  2. I remember seeing a pic possibly in PF or MCJ years ago of someone who had a collection of '34 Fords from HO on up! Also I don't remember if Mono had any 1/16th at that time?h
  3. I still use a wire coat hanger to hold my models. With a separate hood, you can usually find a space to stick it somewhere so that as you move the can or AB around it gets some color. I don't worry too much about solid colors matching, but metallics , and candies present special care to get the color on in the same pattern at the same time.
  4. I use 1:1 as a starting point for thinning. Your right about that AB, but it's Still better than any aerosol nozzle. Maybe try a Paasche H? It's a external single action, but a little more precise?
  5. I'd ask about it over at Dave's showrods site. I thought that some of JF's Testors labeled kits were Ed Newton's designs.
  6. Here's one of mine painted with some HOK Candy Scarlet.
  7. Hendrix makes a good quality casting of that year Buick. That would be THE starting point(at least IMHO) You would have the basic general shape and go from there. Granted, not many of us want to buy a resin kit and bash it like this. The roof could be played out in a standard way, and then become the form for a vacuum-copy.
  8. Except for the dubious attaching points for the frame pieces, that has to be THE frame to put under a lot of fat fender car models. You did a nice job on it.!!
  9. Hits home. My cousin who recently moved here to AZ still has HIS '57 Chevy 210 and brought it with him.
  10. What everyone else said plus lots of plastic & putty
  11. Brinsfield was the dealership that Sox & Martin was sponsored by when they campaigned a Mercury Comet
  12. Really nice! Doesn't matter what the material is!
  13. I picked up 4 wheels recently on ebay that are very close. They are not deep enough though. My thoughts were to cast them and cut apart and do a separate mesh center. The seller said they were from a Tamiya R/C Jeep. What would be the diameter of a 15 inch wheel in 1/8th? These measure 2.0385 in diameter. I'll try and put up a pic tomorrow.
  14. Looks good. Is this the epoxy/micro-balloons filler you've mentioned. What type/brand of epoxy are you using? I've been using the 30 minute type popular with R/C. Yours looks like you got it to a paste consistency.
  15. Ken, This looks super! Nice work and quick. I'm going to try this using the '58 Impala as the base, This is really good.
  16. What he said, Older issues usually had a damaged windshield frame.
  17. Lookin' good Ken !! You work fast!
  18. I bought their Firebird kit as I plan to bash it with the 1/24 monogram kit for a full detail build.
  19. Very nice decal job and entire build!
  20. Not trying to be a wise guy, but as long as you use metallic paints mixed for 1:1 cars, you will get a flake size for 1:1. Even some paints for models have flake too large.
  21. I've been on ebay since 1999. My first experience was not buying but selling. I remember taking a bunch of models to where I worked and a co-worker shot the pics and I put them up and couldn't believe the prices I got. The models were old original AMT kits, assembled neatly and never painted. I really can't remember the first item(model) I bought.
  22. Sandpaper. Find a grit you feel is in scale, and spray it flat white.
  23. In the parlance of the street, The handsome couple are "negotiating".
