  1. No , you CASTED them and then LOOSED them!
  2. Tommy, sorry about that. Super Clean is just a brand name strong degreaser sold in U.S. It sometimes shows up as Purple Power also. It's my goto paint stripper ,unless I know the coating is acrylic, then I use ammonia. Dawn Power dissolver is another branded name here in the U.S. Check to see if Procter & gamble products are sold in Norway. Or use the freezer trick, which for the record, has never worked for me.
  3. I did one on a AUDI a year or so ago. I posted pics on here, but can't find the thread? Anyone know how to do this? I checked my content at my profile, but only went back so far.
  4. Ditto! Like the silver roof.
  5. That Caddy rear bumper is perfect for this build! I too am glad your going to do the Olds front and give the Caddy a try. I'm trying to imagine what you will do to make the dagmars look more integrated. They look good, but "forced"?
  6. I just let the part(s) soak in super clean for a LONG time. If it's chrome...well you were going to re chrome that part anyway ,right? Another thing that has worked for me is odorless mineral spirits and you don't soak the parts, but you just dribble a little bit at a time and just try and keep the area damp with spirits. This takes a lot of patience.....
  7. I like this build and the color is perfect. I'm confused that you didn't have the hood done when you painted the body. Will the hood be black? Metallics are hard to match in my experience. Nice build whatever,I had a '66 Chevy II SS many years ago.
  8. WOW! You're a one man building machine! Is the Mono F-40 the only kit of this car or what else is available? That is really disappointing that model companies can't seem to get proportions right. keep up the great work!
  9. THAT spoon test comment should be a pinned topic. It is astounding (at least to me) how a base coat can influence the color coats. Generally white makes any color pop and gray will tone it down. Then there are silver, gold copper etc.... that's why the spoon test is so viable.
  10. Nice work JJ ! HMMMMMM, Karnak Kucaba sees a 250 LM kit in your neat future.
  11. I remember the '63 from the old mags from years ago. I don't recall ever seeing a kit or resin. The second one is a styling study or custom coachwork done by Pininfarina or? They'd be nice to replicate at any rate.
  12. The only primer I ever found that truly blocks ghosting is DuPonts Vari-Prime. It did fail me once on the new tool '62 T-bird where I tried to remove the side trim, and even gouging it out and filling with plastic and using CA glue and two-part putty it just kept ghosting back. Bought another kit and prepped the body similarly an no ghosting. Go figure. Bad plastic formulation?
  13. Another trick to try if all else fails is to actually gouge out the area and fill with your favorite putty, maybe even go so far as to place some plastic scrap in the gouge and sand flush. Ghosting is a perplexing problem and crops up now and then ,and sometimes it can just be the way the plastic was formulated at the time.
  14. My thoughts are that the JF body is based on the Lindberg "61 chevy and that the R&R '62 is based off the amt kit. R&R kits are usually complete except for wheels and tires. JF is usually just a body.
  15. EDIT ? Try this link: http://www.3000toys.com/catalog/item_detail.aspx?itemfind=AMT837#.UhFKxIzn9dp
  16. While googling for a post here came across a site(3000 toys or something like that ) Had a picture of the box art for a 1/25th "66 Mustang convertible with a tie -in as the car in AIRPLANE the movie.???
  17. Nice job on that. "(Since they are no longer available)". Are you sure about that? When did you last try to get one. I picked up two at last years Tucson show (2012) from Bob Zetterman. PM me if you're interested.
  18. I agree. There's a couple 1/16th in my stash.
  19. There were a couple. The old IMC/Testors lotus kit had one and so did the kit that was in the 3 car Indy winners set by MPC.
  20. ...and all the major paint packagers (Testor's,Tamiya etc.) sell airbrushes. Go figure.
  21. I think the most expensive kit I have is $300.00 for a sealed Challenge cement mixer.(it's still sealed) I have also spent $300.00 for a Scale Dreams Indy Corvette built-up(only way they came). I have also dropped thousands at shows like Toledo. I'm considering some high end resin from MFH and such.
  22. All of this begs the question: Why doesn't Tamiya(and others) put there sprays in bottles... All colors and all types.
  23. Nice ! The bike WIP's I Have been checking out on AF have been great from box stock to incredible art. Yours looks fantastic. What extra details were added?
  24. I'm waiting for the person to do all 12 of the factory altered wheel base cars. Now that would be an under taking! You have a great start BTW.
  25. Your perseverance is to be commended!! From where you started to where you are now is a tremendous accomplishment. This is shaping into a fabulous build-up and somewhat of a tutorial. Thumbs up!!
