  1. The auto paint store I frequent here in Mesa always asks me if I want my aerosol cans shaken and have a machine just for that. In the 70's I worked for a major supplier of the valves that are used on the aerosol cans. Many times they had me or someone in Maintenance open cans for Quality Control. I personally wouldn't advise anyone to just puncture a can, that hole will immediately become a spray tip. The only way I could see that work is if the propellant was completely evacuated.JMHE
  2. Yes, and it is not worth it. As you spray, the can starts to get cold and condensate forms and will get into your air stream and then into the paint. If you don't want to buy a compressor, look into a air storage tank as an air supply source. a 5 or 10 gallon tank can be had relatively cheaply. In a pinch, Testors sells a device that fits on top of an air can and I have successfully applied Alclad chrome using that. For FWIW I have recently seen decent compressors selling as cheaply as $39.00.
  3. Neat looking S-liner! What was the source of the body?
  4. Try making a transition mask with varying sizes of mesh. Either in fabric or brass screen? Just how large does the pixilation get to? Do you have a pic? The reason I ask is because the kit I'm working on has decal to help with that.
  5. Way to go! Now go cut the lawn Seriously I like The Northwoods, I have relatives that own a resort on Lake George.
  6. Do I have to join Facebook, or can I just view/join the group?
  7. Stored in a fortified bunker under the streets of Mesa is "the STASH"
  8. Well thank you and that's a start . In the instructions there is a brief history describing that the entire bottom pan is composite. I'll go from there spent some time this week cleaning up parts and filling ejector pin divots that would show when finished. Body was nice and clean, not much in prep at all.
  9. Very inspiring work! A more than fantastic build-up.
  10. Thank you both for the tips. I will try and practice this as it seems that unless you post pics one is not very relevant on many of these forums.
  11. Yeah! which link did you use? I was able to do this with my Imac, (not very well though)after seven years this windows 7 is like a foreign language. I have more in my stash.
  12. well I knew how to do this with my IMac

  14. Nice work and a cool idea! (I would've just used Scotch tape as a hinge.)
  15. Kit's like that pretty much got me out of modeling...real cars and girls helped somewhat too
  16. I bought a new visor so I can see what I'm screwing up better. This one has more magnification options and a light!!
  17. I BOUGHT one of those plastic roll arounds, loaded it up with bottles and cans, and the first time I went to roll it around(on a hardwood floor no less) the caster fell out as the plastic around couldn't handle the weight. Hope you get better use out of your find. I later on removed the casters and found a convenient place to use it.
  18. Use the finest tooth saw you have also.
  19. Very nice and great to see it in a color other than Silver or Red!
  20. Sign in a antique store "the only one that cares what your Grandma had was your Grandpa"!
  21. Okay, I started this kit and thought nice clean OOB build, but I have gathered up a good amount of SMS decals. Now how do you find out what is CF? I spent several hours googling, checking out WIP's at AF modeling etc. Éven some of the builders weren't sure about what was CF. This by race car standards is an OLD car and there should have been something. So what do you folks do that build models with this. Also, the template stuff SMS sells is the template on the back of the decal and you cut that out or is this a template that you use on the decal back. Thanks for any and all help.
  22. Looks nice. Wheel colors are quite striking!
  23. No I can't, as most flat blacks that I used must have been flat enough to my eye. If I were looking for one I would look at a craft store line of paint for ceramics . There are a lot of newer names in the paint industry and they might have something. e.g. MIG, Valleyo etc. Interesting to note is that Tamiya in their acrylic line does not list a flat black, and offer a flat additive to use with their gloss & semi-gloss black. HTH
  24. I stash kits and supplies so I'll have something to do when the Apocalypse (or Rapture) hits. I'll be in my fortified bunker in a remote location while everyone else is foraging for food.
  25. I just ordered some really good looking veneer from a seller on ebay . I think they are stuff used by people who custom make pens. Search penman or something like that on ebay.
