  1. One of thee finest Galaxies I've seen ! Beautiful work ! I can just hear that FE sucking the atmosphere through its air cleaner ! ( is that siren one of the vacuum-operated units ?)
  2. Germans colonised Brasil ?!? ( ) That is some fine , fine reworking , Tulio ! Excellent restoration ; I expecially like the weathered engine and undercarriage ! Keep up the great work , my friend
  3. I've only encountered 2 "issues" with this excellent kit : - Bumper brackets don't line-up with bumpers' locating slots - Glass is a bit thick and mildly-obtrusive with the dashboard Until this latest retro-reissue , I've only built the 80's issue of this kit (including the Diamond in the Rough combo from c.1987) . It's such a great kit ! You'll have a lot of fun assemblling it
  4. Google Earth map showing the location of the former Earl Ike Dodge : https://www.google.com/maps/place/1175+S+La+Brea+Ave,+Inglewood,+CA+90301/@33.947971,-118.352731,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x80c2b6f0b0af9795:0xb1fbcf38847353c No further information at this time .
  5. I got to meet Big Willie Robinson about a year prior to his passing ( ) . He's a legend here in the Los Angeles area ! Hell of a nice guy , too . From what I understand , Wille and his late wife , Tomiko , purchased two brand new 1969 Charger Daytona from Earl Ike Dodge (formerly of Inglewood ; was on La Brea , near LAX) . Those were the green and red cars ( 440 and Hemi , respectively ) .
  6. Thank you for sharing your perspective and comprehensive overviews (including links) , Tim ! To all ; you can take Tim's word as solid gold . The very first article I ever read by Mr. Boyd was in a late-1985 issue of SAE ; it was a comparison-contrast of the fledgling 50's F-100 kits of the time ( MPC [1953 , with tilt front clip] , AMT [ 1953 , when AMT was a completely-separate entity from MPC] , Monogram [ 1955 , when Monogram was a separate entitly from Revell] , and Revell [ 1956 , and separate from Monogram] ). At the risk of hyperbole : best kit review I'd ever had the pleasure of perusing ! Mr. Boyd pulls no punches . His reviews are firm , and most importantly , absolutely fair . Thanks again for chiming in , Tim !
  7. The allure of this now-50-year-old-tooling kit for me has always been : - The "flip-sides" door panels - Supercharged Pontiac V8 - Separate hood emblems - Opening doors My first experience with this kit was back in c.1977 when it available in this guise : To say that it was challenging for a 7 year old would be an understatement ! Never did finish building that piece of dung ... My last attempt with this kit was back in the early 80's when it was marketed under the Street Demons livery . Finally completed one --came out alright-- only to have the 1987 earthquake destroy it .
  8. Very cool ! I didn't recognise every marque represented at that show , but they were all sweet regardless .
  9. I've bought a number of reproduction / replacement parts for the MPC 1972 Road Runner (conversion parts for the 1971) , and other trinkets for other projects . One of the best attributes to their repro parts ---plated pieces in particular--- is the complete lack of runner-attachment-points ! Just a completely plated part with zero need to touchup attachment points
  10. It was the 1957 Lowrider from c.1975 that was moulded in pink .
  11. I hope that they get a load of rush-last-minute business . I also wish them the best of times in their retirement .
  12. Is its engine facing the correct direction and powering the proper wheels ? If it's a rear-drive arrangement , then I'm okay with it ... as uninspired as its design is and all .
  13. The air cleaner assembly on the 'BS23J0' and 'JS23J0' is huge ; its perimetre is very wide . It seems that the Monogram 340 (first employed in the 1970 Challenger T/A some 30 years ago !) always looked bigger than 1/24 scale (polar-opposite to the MPC Chrysler 318/340/360 , which is obviously under-sized !) . How 'bout those wonderfully-detailled Holley 2300's on the 340 and 440 (Super Bee and GTX) ! So convincing !
  14. Has any-one built a scale version of this Street Racer's Special ? http://www.carguychronicles.com/2011/09/chevy-427-biscayne-street-racers.html
  15. "Beverly Hills Copo"
  16. NICE !!! That 305 / 351 Jimmy 6 looks gorgeous !!
  17. Isn't Tamiya's "X-20" thinner the same compound as Denatured Alcohol ?
  18. Looks like the 'N96' Air Grabber hood from the Monogram 1971 Satellite -come- 1971 GTX 440 Six Barrel kit (c.1995)
  19. At the risk of stroking my own ego ; here's an example of my automotive art whose influence is directly-connected to the works of Shawn Kerry and George Trosley ( not to mention the Surrealist period , and some others ) . Raw Power http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=99012
  20. The engine in this photo has the "N95" Cleaner Air Package (i.e. , a California model ) ; 1971 models in the other 49 states received this EEC arrangement (3rd , forward-facing port "nipple" in this photo is ported to the fuel return line . Prior to 1970 , there was no fuel vapour return line ; the VOC's were just vented to the atmosphere . So , if you want to replicate a 1970 California model , or a 1971 model (all 50 states) , then this photo serves as a great reference . That 3-port crankcase breather was used on all engines , from the 198 Slant Six , to the 340 , and up to the 426 Hemi .
  21. Super nice colour combination and very clean construction ! Any photographs of its under-bonnet and FE engine ?
  22. I'm all about a kitted Colonnade A-body series , especially the Oldsmobile and Buick from '73-'75 ! For the naysayers regarding the later A/G bodies ; they were extremely popular in their time (and , if only Roger "No Interest In Vehicles" Smith would've let the A/G platform run its course instead of cramming more front-wheel-drive garbage down out throats vis-a-vis the 1988 models !!) . They're still popular to this day ! Yes , most 80's cars were absolute junk (again , engine facing the wrong direction and driving the wrong wheels) , but there were a few diamonds in the rough ; the A/G bodies amongst the chosen few ( sharing the list with the 5.0 Mustang , '82-.92 GM F-bodies , and a select few more ...) . Proof ? Just look at the 1987 Buick GN-X !
