  1. Yes ; received it on Friday at 1420 HRS . My critique : Over-all , it's a beauty . In spite of the moulds' age , flash and distortion is minimal-at-worst . Chrome plating is excellent . Decal sheet is *nice* . The retooling of the original's custom wheel covers is a very nice touch ! Tyres are very nicely done ; period-correct whitewall on one side ; well-detailled blackwall on opposite side . My only prima fascia "complaint" ? The optional chromed-reverse wheels are --as the directs point out-- unusuable with the kit's stock-ish skinny Firestones . This also means that any wheel deeper than the stock steelie / hub caps , or stock steelie / custom wheel covers won't fit . The 70's and 80's issues of this kit had two sets of tyres ; the old standby Firestones , and optional F70-15 Good-Year Polyglas GT's . In my opinion , these tyres should have been included in this issue. 9.9 points out of 10 !
  2. Where in Japan is this ? There were a couple of '70-'73 Camaros in the area when I was young ; and other than the Daytons (not really a fan of those wheels) , this car represents the customs I'd see on West Whittier Blvd ! Very , very cool ! I can't wait to see how your replica is going to *compare*
  3. You're correct . Don't know how that one slipped my memory ! 1966 - 1971 Street Hemi .
  4. Exactly . The last year that the AFB (Aluminum Four Barrel) was used by MoPar on its factory-produced vehicles was in c.1967 . The AVS (Air Valve Secondary) was employed from c.1967-1970 . The Thermoquad was first employed on the 1971 340 (800 cfm) , then the 400 (850 cfm) , with the 440 (again , 850 cfm) joining for 1973 , and the then-new 1974 high-perf 360 (800 cfm) .
  5. Mike , you're doing a fantastic job with this "reimagined" ( ) Satellite ! Those hood / fender stripes look great ! The finish on them looks perfect , like in-scale vinyl ! Keep up the killer work !
  6. Does that programme receive much "air time" ?
  7. Ron Asheton's New Order Relocating to Los Angeles after the implosion of Iggy & The Stooges , Ron Asheton got together with former mc5 drummer Dennis "Machinegun" Thompson and Stooges short time bassist James Recca , and formed The New Order in 1975 : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_Order_%28band%29 This is Rock & Roll Soldiers from Declaration of War :
  8. The Twister (a 340 , and later , 360 , look-alike) was released for 1971 , and lasted through at least 1974 : 1971 : http://www.musclecardrive.com/specs/plymouth/1971-plymouth-duster.php#.VGf7DcnGCFE 1972 : http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1972/72_Valiant_Duster_22.jpg 1973 : http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1973/73_Valiant_Duster8.jpg 1974 : http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1974/74_Valiant_Duster_0019.jpg
  9. I bought the 340 Four Barrel kit for a couple of different reasons : 1.) I'm not buying an entire kit just to cannibalise its parts 2.) The Gibson kit comes with a well-executed A-727-A Torqueflite 3.) The Gibson kit has both the 1968-1969 and 1970-1973 front accessories 4.) I paid a lot less than the typical MSRP for my sample !
  10. Aside from Rallye wheels being added to pre-1970 MoPars , and N42 Bright Exhaust Tips being added to MoPars which didn't have them as an option , hood scoops are another modification (okay ... decklid spoilers , too ) which are *incorrect* for the most part . - 1970 Duster 340 = No factory scoops . - 1971 Duster 340 = No factory scoops - 1971 Duster Twister = scoops - 1970 Swinger 340 = Optional scoops - 1971 Demon 340 = Optional scoops - 1971 Demon Sizzler = scoops For 1972 , the scoops' design was changed . They were only available on : - 1972 Demon 340 = Optional scoops ( required the hood stripe as part of the package ) For 1973 , the scoops were again changed as far as factory-installed scoops were concerned : - 1973 Duster Twister = smaller , "backward-mount" scoops - 1974 Duster Twister = same as 1973 . The "1972 Demon 340" scoop design proved popular enough that Direct Connection (predecessor to today's "Mopar Performance" ) offered them through their catalogue . These were commonly-fitted to 1973-1976 Dart Sport , and 1976-1979 Aspen / Volare . Again , no factory scoops on Dart Sport ( 340 , Rallye , or otherwise ) . So , if you're going for a factory-correct replica , stay away from the scoops .
  11. That's a super Super Bee ! It looks great , especially for its age ; I have nothing in my collection that's more than 10-12 years old . Here's a classic scene from Christine , with one of my favourite actors : Harry Dean Stanton . "Where did you find the paint for this car ? It's 20 years old ; it's obsolete ..."
  12. Túlio , welcome to the MoPar Club ! Ha ha ha ... just Putin you on ... Seriously ; you are doing a splendid job with this "challenging " kit . I cannot wait to see how it comes out ! As to the primer colour that was utilised by Chrysler during the 'classic era' : it was subjective to the assembly plant . I've seen : - Grey - Black ( typically , Los Angeles plant used black from a local supplier ) - Greenish Zinc Oxide ( St. Louis , at least during its first year or so of operations ) And , you're correct ; these cars did rust in short order ! Another issue was the torsion bars ; their hardening wasn't up to snuff early on , so they'd snap like twigs !
( I hope that this English-to-German translation is proper . I utilised one of the translation sites .)
  14. I'm contemplating making a pair of "plain-but-custom" door panels for my build of this kit . The haphazard , moulded-in "door panels" are thee sore point of an otherwise excellent kit ... ... whose origins date to c.1962 !
  15. The one that I ordered from Model Roundup shipped today . Should be here within 7-10 days ...
  16. Jack Benny Program Modern Family Seinfeld Closet Classics ( VH1 and MTV reruns from The Beat Club / MÜsik Laden , etc. ) Frasier Family Guy Simpsons The Young Ones Married : With Children Star Trek "TOS" Keeping Up With Appearances Benny Hill *Original* Saturday Night Live (and some post-1980 seasons) Monkees Soul Train Curb Your Enthusiasm
  17. AMT 1971 Duster 340 : - Corrections to its glass (especially the windshield and backlight !) - Different pulley arrangements ( non-A/C , A/C with power steering , non-A/C with power steering) - Torqueflite - Headers - Side Pipes - Period correct custom wheels and tyres MPC 1971 Road Runner : - Add the 1972 R.R. parts , effectively making the kit a two-in-one ! - Backdate the wheels to the original's Cragar S/S - Full compliment of decals - Instructions on bahing / interfacing the old MPC tooling with the relatively-new AMT 1971 Charger
  18. My word , that's a beauty !! 413 RB with the cast iron A-488 Torqueflite ...
  19. You're thinking of the 1972 Demon 340 (and "Sizzler") scoops . Not sure if one of the resin casters makes one or not ... Perhaps Hart's Parts or Missing Link or Competition Resins ?
  20. A few which I strongly desire : 1973 Duster , MPC : 1968 Coronet MPC : ...and Sven's excellent build of this kit : 1955 Nomad , 1/16 , AMT :
  21. The one I ordered from Model Roundup is on its way soon ! Here's some inspiration for practically any 1953 - 1956 F-100 :
  22. Jim , at the risk of hijacking your thread ; have you had the chance to read Marty Schorr's excellent book about Motion ?
  23. Is it just me , or do those valve covers look more like Nash 287 / 327 items ??
  24. I've not seen a Motion car with PCV in the rocker covers ! Typically 2 breathers , but not PCV . CCV / PCV is , in my mind , a prerequisite for an engine which sees regular street use ... (same goes for vacuum advance for the distributor !)
  25. My condolences to the Chism family and friends .
