  1. Super nice BS23R0B there , Cruz ! I agree with everyone's adoration of the Keystone Kustoms ; they're absolutely perfect !
  2. Yes , I am aware of that , Cruz . Believe me , I'm not calling you out on your comparison , and I apologise if it seems that way . I absolutely love your work , your craftsmanship .
  3. Isn't the stance a bit higher on the finished kit than your as-proposed stance ? I won't dispute that the slicks' outer-diametre is obviously larger on the Revell tyres ; however , I believe that the rear of the car sits-up higher than in the photos you've (thoughtfully) presented .
  4. Out on the road today , I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac .
  5. Perhaps it's the *dreaded* licensing issue , but I'd like to see the following icons : - Baldwin-Motion Phase III Vega ; 1971-1972 Phase III Chevelle . - 1967-1968 Dana 427 Camaro - Mr. Norms 1967 Dart GSS 383 / 440 ; 1971 "Tri-Power" Demon 340 ; 1972 Demon GSS 340 with Paxton Supercharger - Fred Gibb 1969 ZL-1 (really , just a new decal sheet for the existing Revell '69 427 COPO Camaro ... and perhaps a TH-400 with column shift ) - 1978 Little Red Express (not that joke of a kit from MPC !!) - Randall AMC "XR" Gremlin 401
  6. <---Molly Anne McCalico (18.MAY.2002 - Present)

  7. I'd have to dig for the original (e.g. , the 2-in-1 from earlier this year) and compare the two . Frankly , the fender flares don't bother me on this version as it's a race car any-how . Sorry to disappoint you , Lee ( ) . Perhaps I'll have to find the stock version tomorrow and compare the two ...
  8. I quite literally just received the Sox & Martin Pro Stock Barra(cuda) from the gorgeous local mail courier ( it's every bit of 95 degrees and 60% humidity at this time ! ). After quickly closing the door to my bedroom ( I have a *very* curious American Shorthair feline who's 11 years old , but acts like he's 11 months old ! ) , I carefully opened the packaging ( thank you , Model Roundup , for the excellent packaging job ! ) and shuffled the Atlanta-area newspaper stuffing around , and there it was ! A sharp #11 Exacto slisked-through the plastic seal , and in short order --and with my nosey American Shorthair crying at the door-- I was perusing the kit's contents . The decal sheet was placed thoughtfully inside the instruction sheet ( thanks for fixing that ordeal , Revell ; my stock 'Cuda had its decal sheet under the instructions , and wedged-against the box's corner ! ) , and it's a beautiful decal sheet ! The new parts look splendid ! Kudos for casting the correct Competition Plus shifter with its companion reverse-lockout lever . The headers look nice ; the custom oil pan is a nice touch ( with a little work , an exact replica is possible ) ; the Keystone Kustoms are righteous ; the slicks are nice (except for the lack of "Firestone" nomanclature... ) ; and the hood is great ! I'm thinking of building either a Super Stock or Modified Production version ... not sure yet . Good job , Revell !
  9. The only "Dart" (or , 'A'-Body Dodge) that was produced in stock form between 1970-1974 was the coveted MPC 1971 Demon 340 annual . No two door hardtops ( "23" bodystyle ) were produced , other than the aforementioned "Wild Bill" Shrewsberry L.A. Dart , the Ramchargers Funny Car , and the recently-reissued "roundy-round" dirt track '70 / '71 Dart . We , the builders , the enthusiasts , have been crying for absolutely decades about the lack of factory-stock 1970-1972 Darts ! ( personally , I'd like to see a 1971 "LL23H1R" : the Canadian-market , 340-powered Swinger Special . They were again built for the 1972 model year. They.Are.Rare !)
  10. SRC ! (Scott Richardson _ _ ? ) ...embarrassed that I can't recall that acronym right now ( ) . I did some art work for Michael Davis ( MC5's bassist ) a few years ago . He hooked me up with a T-shirt , some stickers (one of which is placed-on the backlite of my '72 Coronet) , and some buttons ; a hand-written post card , too ! He passed away a few months later ( ) . I had no idea that he'd fallen ill ... First Stooges album I heard was 1973's Raw Power . That was in late 1985 ; a friend had it on vinyl , original-issue (he had tons of rare records , including the Velvet Underground & Nico (1966) , with the peel-off banana on its cover !!) . One of the days I met my friend for our walk to school , I heard the harangue by J.C. Crawford : "Brothers and sisters , let me see a sea of hands out there !! ..." , and I thought that my friend was listening to some rogue Motown group . The music kicked my 15 year old butt straight-across the room !! It wasn't until I picked-up the album's sleeve that I realised that the MC5 were Caucasian ! Scott Asheton was a nice guy ! He's another one that I kept in contact with (via MySpace originally , then Facebook) . He loved my artwork ! We also talked about cars and dragsters and racing ! So bummed when I found out about his passing ( ) . Ron Asheton ... he was a feline lover like me ! Lots of pics of him and his kitties . That's so cool that you got to see the best-of-the-best of the Detroit (and its 'surrounding' cities) bands !
  11. If you're not opposed to resin parts , TH-400's can be had : http://www.ebay.com/sch/bnlresins2012/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= Top notch pieces ; minimal cleanup required . Highly recommended !
  12. That's a super Super Stock , Roger ! That first photo looks like it's from Orange County International Raceway ( US 101 / I-5 , Irvine : 1967-1983 ) , judging by the EMPI wall banners ( ). Didn't S&M campaign a SS/D Barracuda 340 in 1968 as well ?
  13. Ann Arbor , huh ? You must be familiar with these guys : ( R.I.P. , Dave Alexander , 1947-1975 ; R.I.P. Ron Asheton , 1948-2009 ; R.I.P. Scott Asheton , 1949-2014 ) And these darlings of the Grande Ballroom : ( R.I.P. , Rob Tyner 1946-1991 ; R.I.P. , Fred "Sonic" Smith , 1948-1994 ; R.I.P. , Michael Davis , 1943-2011 )
  14. Joe Oldham is very much around the fledgling social media outlets ; here's the direct link to his facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/joe.oldham.92?ref=ts&fref=ts Note that Martyn Schorr is around as well : https://www.facebook.com/MartynSchorr?hc_location=timeline I have Martyn's excellent book , Motion Performance : Tales of a Muscle Car Builder . Highly recommended !
  15. Thanks , Tim and Mark . I just remembered it as being a mid-60's Ford Galaxie .
  16. Wasn't there a reissue of this kit back in c.1987 as well ? It was moulded in orange (more of a tomatoe red , actually) , and , to the best of my recollection , it differed in respect to : - The aforementioned headers (chrome tree) - decklid moulded-shut - L60-15 Polyglas tyres - 'Thunderbolt' teardrop hood Perhaps I'm thinking of a different model year ? I just remember buying the orange one --it , too , was a 3-in-1-- back in Spring 1987 (and it didn't survive the 1987 Whittier Earthquake) .
  17. I don't care what any-one says about this kit's "short-comings" ; I can't wait for mine to show up here in the next 3-5 days !
  18. I have a bottle of Tamiya Clear Red and a bottle of Gunze Clear Ambre , and they're both 27 years old !!! And , yes , they're still just as good as the day I bought them !!
  19. My favourite Stevie Nicks song ; my fave for two reasons : 1.) The use of the Celesta 2.) The subject of this song ( Rhiannon ) is of Cymraeg origin My next fave would be Gypsy . Why ? Because of her mentioning my favourite Rock band : The Velvet Underground "So I'm back / to the Velvet / Underground ..." Without further ado :
  20. Funny that you should mention just that ... I'm fully prepared to send Revell's customer service some photos if necessary ; however , given my great experiences with them , I really don't see how photos would be necessary
  21. Thanks , Chuck . It just seemed so odd that it'd completely missed being cast ! Well , I have faith in Revell's excellent customer service ; I know that they'll send me the missing part .
  22. I bought the latest issue of the old Monogram 1955 F-100 (whose origins date back to the mid-1970's) , as I've been wanting this kit for some time . I was always apprehensive of the c.1986 modified-reissue --and its subsequent reissues-- due to the (yucky) 80's / 90's "updated" parts (fuel injected 302 ; ugly wheels ; rubber band tyres ; gross tiller , etc. , etc.) . However , I was plesantly surprised to note the presence of the old engine pieces (the rare Autolite inline 4 barrel atomiser , and the not-gross-billit steering wheel among these parts) . However ... upon perusing the kit's contents , I noticed a glaring omission : the grille !! Not only is the grill not there , but its 'runner' mounts are rounded-off and smoothly-plated !! Did Revell drop the proverbial ball here ?? Am I overlooking some-thing ?? I've contacted Revell's Customer Service (via online) and provided them with the requsite information . Has any-one else encountered this in their 1955 F-100 ?
  23. Just a shot in the dark here : 1970 : Looks like TX9 Black , FE5 Rallye Red , and EW1 White . Apparently , its black portions were repainted in what appears to be EB7 Blue . 1971 : Same as the 1970 , but with what appears to be EB7 Blue (maybe even TB3 Blue ? )replacing the TX9 Black . The wheels on the 1970 appear to be Rader [sp?] wheels (in the first photo of the '70) , with the 2nd car (at last labelled as Pro Stock) having a different set of Fenton wheels : "Gyro" . That last photo is of Grotheer's 1971 B/Modified Production Road Runner . Its colours appear to be : GW3 White , FE5 Red , and GB5 Blue . ** Note Regarding Paint Codes : The first letter equates the year of the colour ; "T" = 1962 ; "E" = 1969 ; "F" = 1970 ; and , "G" = 1971 .**
  24. The 4.89 ratio must be a typo , as that was specific to the 83/4 diff ; the Dana 60 ("Spicer") had 4.88 ratio . Then there's that aluminum case transmission ; definitely not "Stock" (although they were employed in the 1968 Dart , et al. , in a *not legal* capacity . They were painted with a mixure of black paint and metal shavings ; a magnet would easily 'catch' the metal shavings , and the colour appeared to be cast iron ) . The varied bumpers must be related to the different-albeit-similar cars that S&M campaigned ; Eliminator , Stock , Super Stock , Modified Production, Pro Stock (not necessarly all of these classes ; just mentioning them ...) Of course , none of this --okay , most of this-- information affects a 1/25 scale kit one iota !
  25. Denatured Alcohol also works very well .
