  1. This is looking good so far Bradley :). As the others have said, just take your time. Work on other parts of the model while waiting for paint to dry. As for the glue on windshield problem, try using white glue for clear parts, it's water soluble and any excess can be removed with a damp cloth. You'll learn a lot by following other builds on here and in the 'Tips and tutorials' section. The main thing is to enjoy yourself. I look forward to following your progress.
  2. Cheers David. I saw it on an MX5 Facebook page and, as the proud owner of a 1998, I couldn't resist adopting it as my avatar.
  3. Is that sprayed straight out of the can David? Looks really good!
  4. Nice work Dennis and thanks for the tutorial - I'm loving the colour!
  5. Thanks from me too
  6. Sweet build.
  7. Should match the BMW nicely
  8. Try covering the raised edges with masking tape to avoid sanding these areas - the paint here can be thin, hence it is easy to sand through to the primer.
  9. This is finished now and appears in 'Under Glass'.
  10. I recently saw a restored '60's custom at a local car show and it inspired me to build something similar based on the Revell '29 roadster: The channelled chassis version was used, with fenders from the Stacey David Rat Roaster kit. The AMT '34 5-window provided the wheels with parts box tyres and rear bumper. Paint is Testor's Dark Cherry Pearl with Tamiya clear, all from the spraycan. The front axle was lowered and basic engine wiring added, together with a Model Parts Garage 1932 instrument cluster.
  11. Excellent start
  12. They may be silly, but they are valuable http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-CUT-FOLD-1966-CHEVY-NOVA-RETRO-MINI-BOX-ART-PACKAGING-KIT-BOX-1-SHEET-/282045407191?hash=item41ab375fd7:g:OMQAAOSwo6lWNlcL
  13. Cool to see this back on the bench, Rob, looking forward to progress
  14. Progress on the Model A - front and rear axles have now been fitted, together with exhausts. I have also fitted a smooth panel to the dashboard ready for the Revell '32 Ford gauges. Firewall is gloss white, interior is Tamiya Pearl White.
  15. Great build Ashley, looks awesome!

Great job on the decals. I've built the earlier version, the decals are a little thick, but at least they are strong and survive the trauma of getting them to lay down nice and smooth .
  17. Another WIP of mine that I've been delaying for a long time. Finally plucked up the courage to apply the two colour paint scheme using my usual Tamiya spraycans, TS44 Brilliant Blue followed by Gloss Black. Having got that hurdle out of the way (with a few touch ups required), I couldn't wait to apply the Hobby Design decals I bought a couple of years ago. Dozens of decals later, I have finished the body but now have dozens more carbon fibre decals to negotiate.
  18. Looks like a P1800ES - is this a styling exercise or did it come after this most beautiful of cars?
  19. In that case, yes
  20. I used to build 1-2 models a month regularly when I was working. Since retirement, I still build about two per month, but I tend to take my time now and not rush things. My stash should last me three years, but of course I keep adding to it .
  21. I'm a Tamiya user normally, but I thought this colour sounded cool. I bought it for a different build though .
  22. Great build Ashley!
  23. Progress so far on the Model A.. body painted with MM Dark Cherry Pearl, which flows somewhat differently compared to the Tamiya cans I'm used to, resulting in a lot of paint on the model. Just a couple of dust bunnies to sort out before I clearcoat. The chassis is 50% done, painted to match the body with scratchbuilt rear coil overs: Engine is Duplicolour Oyster Gold with basic plug wiring. The fuel injection even comes with a groove for adding a fuel line feed - kudos to Revell!
  24. Thanks Marcelo. The stripes do run under the bumpers, if these are the ones you mean. You can see them on the chassis photo.
  25. This is an older build of mine, based on the Revell GT350H version. The engine was pirated from the AMT Mercury Comet Cyclone and the wheels are from the Saleen kit. Paint is Tamiya rattlecan, Mica Red stripes over Pearl White.
