  1. I use a tiny dab of super glue on bamboo skewers. Obviously on an unimportant spot.
  2. 258 parts… mmm-Kay.
  3. It's imperative that I do a follow up here nearly a year later. This sat in my hot/cold attic since last March. Throughout, I checked the paint and it remained soft enough to dent with a fingernail, even up to today, but less so than a year ago. I decided to go ahead and sand/polish anyway and I was astonished to get what is probably one of the best glossy finishes I've ever achieved. Possibly because it was not rock hard, the sandpaper cut it easily and polish smoothed it evenly. After light sanding, each area got a vigorous rub only twice over and this was my result 😃. I don't know what to think about this anymore.
  4. Always interesting to see what non-mainstream models you'll show us next. Looks great, thanks for sharing.
  5. What an awesome piece. Nice work.
  6. Looks like you caught a little grace from that radiused rear fender. That's the trouble spot that scares people away but to my eye this '51 has a little built in forgiveness to help smooth out without getting into a lot of body work.
  7. Regrettably, precious little. In primer, with the bodywork hidden, it does get a little more interesting. Your sectioning REALLY looks good on your '51 Bel Air. Proportionally much more compelling in my opinion. S-s-s-six years?! Geez time speeds up with age. I thought maybe just a couple winters ago. Still think so? Heh, yeah, definitely. Especially mid-rift back. I still think I could take a quarter inch off that derrière and nobody would miss it.
  8. Great looking model. That copper and black is striking. Love the clean details.
  9. Love, love, love wild customs. This is fun. Thanks for showing the last pic. Helps me loosen up, visualize and think outside the box for customs. This could've worked with a big block with a Potvin blower too.
  10. Hands down 58 Chevy Apache short bed.
  11. Wow, did you get everything right on that one. The stance is perfect, proportions etc.
  12. Pinterest. Google searches also, but you tend the get the same results under different search prompts. Pinterest is at least user based. See what other enthusiasts are compiling from many sources beyond general internet searches.
  13. This. Most of the vintage kits I've acquired found me. Almost all of them builders. Most of the sellers knew full well the value but they were motivated sellers; an antique store going out of business, a flea market, a hobbyist who lost all interest and just wanted them out of the house. All were impulse buys on my part. I don't seek vintage kits, yet there they are.
  14. These are great. Love the colors, textures and concepts.
  15. Why scrub? This is what I use. With proper ventilation and safety precautions, soap scum practically jumps into your rag. Very little effort necessary. I don't know about mold and mildew, but splash this into a rag and you'll be scum done in minutes. Get it at a paint and body supply store. My tub was refinished with a polyurethane coating so I can't use abrasives. The refinishers didn't offer a good cleaning solution so I put 2&2 together and went with this.
  16. This is a great expression of your knowledge and skill Dennis. I envy your patience and expertise in cutting. I'll be checking in .
  17. This is very interesting. Thanks for posting this along with good pics.
  18. Not just pro level digital illustrating, but some superbly concepted and executed layouts. Mucho Like-o.
  19. Wow, what a lovely collection. Nice work.
  20. In the event you can't get a model company to provide the Make & Take, I've had success finding local sponsors to fund the purchase of a couple cases of models. Select the quick build kit you'd like to provide, estimate the number of kits you think you'll need, then approach sponsors with the specific amount you'll need to purchase X-number of kits (including shipping). You'll get a better response with a concrete number than an open ended request for undefined sponsorship. Never hurts to ask, but you might have to make a lot of asks. Look for businesses that regularly look for opportunities to make philanthropic, tax deductible donations to community activities that favor kids, youth, families, etc.; banks, fraternal clubs, prominent business leaders, etc. It might not be as much work as it sounds. But then again...
  21. Square body GM wagons. From ‘77 to ‘92 it seemed like there would be no end to them and I was ready to not see them anymore. Now they’ve all but vanished it’s nice to see them again.
  22. Congratulations to Anton for taking top honors is this year's build off. Glad to see you pull off another excellent model. I especially want to thank Enzo for managing this CBP. The regular updates of builders' status, important dates and regular feedback all helped keep the thread active and engaging. Looking forward to your continuing involvement as a builder.
  23. A handsome cat Chuck. Well done.
