Very exciting. Soon you'll be off to bigger and better things. Don't forget us little people.

Always takin' it to the 9's eh Bruce? Amazing detail. Makes me feel like an apprentice... well that's true enough anyway. Engine in place. Chassis done. Body in first color, which will be mostly an accent color after it gets masked and the rest of the body is painted something else.

Hey, if you can do it in exactly two weeks Matthew, knock yourself out. Be sure to show us your starting point.

Flocked dash, heh, heh. The seats and belts are excellent. Can't quite make out the open box on the right.

Interior is done. The black back end will not be seen. The only modification is a very important piece of scientific equipment. Very important. Body is in primer. Lots of work still left. Yikes!

Why is Old Paint Sticky?
Lunajammer replied to Bucky's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah, I brush painted a 65 Chevelle wagon with Testors gold back in the 70s, it too never really dried. Early on I played with it and handled it a lot so it got tarnished and gross. Still have it though. -
This is so good. Beautiful touch on the aging of one of my favorite cars. It's begging to have the doors cut open and using the kit hinges to swing them. Let's folks get a better view of that nice work.

Custom painted Dodge A100
Lunajammer replied to maltsr's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I like it. Not sold on the wheels for this one but I really like the feel of everything else. -
I see the average AMT 74 Plymouth GTX selling for around $15, plus or minus a few bucks. To me that seems to be only a buck or two higher than the average kit. Admittedly, it does seem slightly high considering there were so many versions around a few years ago you could hardly give them away. There's still no shortage of lower priced ones if you're patient. There's a lot of these kits out there.

Very sorry to hear of your health problems, I hope you're feeling better and are on a good path. Is there a way for you to reduce the size of your photos to maybe under 1mb? Also maybe try only 3 to 5 photos per post. Though the site has no limit to how many photos you can upload, there may be a size limit to how much data per post so maybe spread them out over a couple of posts if you have a lot of pictures.

As you can clearly see by my broken Photobucket links earlier in this thread, the government is trying to stop the public from knowing the potential of the Nitrous Turbolene generator. The Corvette chassis and engine are done so body work continues with a rhinoplasty on the nose to help better cool the engine, which is sure to get a hard workout. A bulkhead has been added for driver protection from the dangers of the turbolene generator. Also buttoning up the housing for very important scientific sh... er, stuff.

There's a lot to take in there, ergo, inspiration! Thanks for your efforts and consideration Tom.

I've laid low on this one because I'm not sure I'll be in it in 2018, but if I was, my preference would be vans.

Yep, I've been complaining about the high cost of model cars since they went to $6 . Truth is, when I used to buy them at drastic markdowns, they were purchases of opportunity and I still haven't built most of them, so I've learned restraint and just admit that I don't need more kits regardless of price. If I need a particular kit, I'll pay the going rate. Even if you think you'll resell them online and make a couple extra bucks, it's hardly worth the effort.

Buick Electra STW 1986 ready to "Under Glass"
Lunajammer replied to Reuhkapelti's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's quite an accomplishment. I know many hours have been spent shaping. Your proportions look good. I never would have guessed it began as a GNX. -
I've put up the Finished Builds thread in the CBP section for participants to post photos of their completed racers. It is, essentially, the starting line for the race. By my count, with one month to go, there are three qualifiers so far... Dominik - with his Mercedes. You still need to file final pics that that thread. (He hasn't signed on since August, I'll PM him). wrecker388 - with his Dodge 330 vwdave92 - with the Ferrari shown above.

Modelers who have participated in the Cannonball 2017 CBP and have finished their projects, PLEASE POST FINISHED PHOTOS HERE. This is where ALL Model Cars Magazine Forum members are invited to peruse the finalists before voting for their favorite car in the poll. Remember, forum members will vote based on how well you represent your model, so find a way to take some decent photos. A piece of non-shiny poster board as a back drop, some decent lighting and something to steady the camera will do wonders. IF YOU ARE NOT POSTING PHOTOS, PLEASE LEAVE NO COMMENTS HERE. IT WILL MAKE IT MUCH EASIER FOR VOTERS TO FIND THE MODELS. IF YOU WANT TO GIVE AN ATABOY PLEASE DO SO IN THE ORIGINAL CANNONBALL 2017 CBP THREAD (HERE). Let the ooohs and aaahs begin...

Later this week I'll open the Finished Builds thread for you all to file good photos to when you're done. This will be used for contest voters to refer to when making their selection for winner. So a reminder for those who have finished already, you will still need to put your photos there to be counted.

Gone forever
Lunajammer replied to dieseldawg142's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Was the building hard to get to? How could it have burned so completely if fire responders were anywhere near? Sprinkler system? Definitely heartbreaking. -
Charcoal sticks can be cumbersome for details but charcoal pencils can help with that. A kneaded eraser is your friend for helping remove marks if you get too heavy. I love using blending sticks to give you that airbrush quality in gradated areas. Of course, no one says you can't use pencils and coal. Looking at it again, you've got a great hand on the hardest part which is perspective, proportion and especially seeing light. The rest is just technique.
