  1. Tough subject. I grew up involved in auto racing , from drag racing to the Indy 500. Shaw's Gentlemen Start Your Engined , was a must. Joe Scalzo's Stand on the Gas, for sprint car racing. Also John Sawyer's The Dusty Heroes. The Unfair Advantage. I'm reading Shunt right now. A biography on James Hunt. Nice book. Last but not least, for humor, Stroker Ace. It's a lot better than the movie.
  2. I remember the old Scale Auto did a story on these back in the olden days, so to speak. I remember that they said the oil color in back was finicky to get right, so the body work fits correctly. They are beautiful.
  3. Wow, the decal work is impeccable. You're definitely very patient.
  4. If a 440 car SS/F. More than.likely it's a Hemi, which would be SS/B
  5. I'm 62. I always tell my wife , if the little boy in a man goes away, the man dies. It's the little boy that keeps us going.
  6. Let me ask around. Years ago it met its demise at Indianapolis Raceway Park. I saw a video a long time ago.
  7. For me it's about who you know and luck. I had a friend older than me, now deceased. He gave me a lot of old kits. Luck is huge. I went to a shoe early in 2024. I bought one model stock car cheap. Then asked what else he had. A box of Johans. I got a javelin and 70 Comet for $10 each, unassembled. Don't be afraid to ask.
  8. I am planning on doing this model, I have the kit. My question, what shade of red is it. In every photo the red looks different.
  9. The body may be off, but it may be a good starting point to do Alcholic. The body on that car was "off" a lot too.
  10. If in Arundel, also go to Bentley Warren's bar. Bentley is an old racer, and has some interesting stuff. If he's there, he has some great stories.
  11. Thanks for the reply. I marked my calendar.
  12. A town near Dayton has a show at a church. Is this show still on , and when is the date?
  13. I like the BWM, but the grill on those cars is ugly.
  14. I actually worked on one of these in ASA oh so many years ago. They could take a beating.
  15. I have a USAC Champ dirt car I am restoring. I need a set of Hilborns for it. At least $1000 now. Ain't cheap.
  16. You can still get a signed copy of his book. The last original hot rodder left.
  17. I have around 350 kits. No time to build currently. I retire in 5 years. I buy what I want, a lot of resin, Etzel,Lance Sellers , also vintage kits. I have some rare stuff also. Once 9 to 5 is over, I build. My wife is younger than I am, so I'll build when she's working . She doesn't complain either.
  18. Not that I know of, I grabbed of google. It's possible though.
  19. A Tucker in NASCAR, in action.
  20. I see the complaints about pricing. You keep forgetting licensing fees. Mr.Penske does nothing for free. Own both IMS and IndyCar, he's going to get his cut. The kits could possibly 10% to 15% cheaper without the fees.
  21. Nice Mopars. What's under the hoods?
