I've been building model cars for over 60 years and I can't come even close to painting like that! Awesome! ( maybe in another 60)

As modelers, we try to capture realism in our builds. You definitely accomplished that! WF

Thanks everyone for taking a look and commenting!

There actually was an altered wheelbase car from Portland OR called The Gunfighter, It was my inspiration for this build.

Sharp looking dragster!

This was my NHRA Stock Eliminator car. I owned it from 1977 until just this February. It was a real A12 440 6bbl car. Ran one season with a HEMI (too expensive). The model is what I imagined it would have looked like brand new. I do have plans to build the race car version as well.

Super clean and well done! The effort that you put in is evident!

Thanks to everyone that replied! This was one of those rare (for me) builds that just seemed to build itself. Everything fit together perfectly. It was actually ...dare I say...fun!

Everything about this build is legit. Like a time capsule!

This is absolutely my favorite thread ! I love all sorts of AWB cars! I did this one many moons ago.

Clean build! Would look right at home at any dragstrip in the U.S.

I really like this one! Brings me back to 1968!

Very well done. The paint and graphics look amazing!

I found out that my photo storage service lost most of my pics (that was money well spent ?). I took new pics this morning. They are better than the old ones anyway. This is a Modified / Sports car. This class was for Corvettes, T - Birds and other cars that NHRA deemed to be Sports Cars. Essentially Gas class cars. Eventually these cars were dumped into the Gas classes. I made the headers from solder, the roll bar from metal tubing and the tonneau cover is sheet plastic with rivet detail via a pounce wheel. I printed the decals too.

I really like this one. Missed the first issue so I have to build one now!

This one is from 2014. Pretty easy build using the WInged Express chassis. I used only the body from a Cobra kit. The rest of the parts? I probably put it in a box somewhere never to be seen again. Engine was from the parts box. Decals from the collection of unused. The tonneau cover is just sheet plastic using a pounce wheel for the rivet detail.

That's some great trivia right there! That photo was taken at Englishtown. I'm sure I was there but I don't remember that car . Fifty years can do that! ?

I also thought that this car had a vinyl top but photos show that it was definitely painted as there are no seams. In an article by Hagerty, Mike Landy states that the car was originally silver with a black top and that he repainted the car blue with a white painted top.

One thing that I forgot to mention about this kit. The body is seamed down the middle. Be prepared to do a lot of gluing, sanding and filing because the two halves don't line up all that well.

I believe that the blue was Testors Arctic Blue.

Thanks. I got those decals a long time ago. Pretty sure they were Slixx but are out of production. You might try to contact Slixx to see if they have any spares.

From an old Stock Eliminator racer...??
