  1. "one of these days I'm gonna finish the replica of my first car, a factory black (enamel way back then) 4dr hdtp." Thanks Mike. I did that last year and I think it was the most fun I've ever had building a model, it was a '55 Chevy I had in 1966 when I turned 16. I spent the summer "fixing it up". Okay, and here is another chance to show it off. If anyone else wants to post pictures here feel free, as long as it's not too far off the subject. I would love to see more '57 Fords. Thanks for looking. And here she is, my first car:
  2. All I can say to this is Social Security and senior discounts, Enjoy!
  3. I'm trying to finish up my '57 Ford Custom on another thread, then I will get back on this. Also would like to start the Stacy David Rat Roaster as well as finish my other dozen builds I started last year. Good thing about this one, you gave us a whole year. I appreciate the way you are hanging in there with us.
  4. The Bare Metal Foil still did not come in at the local hobby shop so, still waiting on that. I did pick up a silver sharpie to fix the tail lights up and still looking for more images on the two-tone paint. Could have sworn I saw an image painted like mine. It won't take too much to correct it anyway I guess. I want to get this one finished. I just picked up the new issue of Stacy David's Rat Roaster and now I'm getting excited about that with all kinds of ideas going through my head. I need another one right now with about 12 projects on the bench still from last year. Please, please leave comments to encourage me to finish this one, thanks. Here's one image I was looking for of the two-tone. Mine is wrong according to this image.
  5. Thanks Mike, I wasn't sure about the distributor but couldn't get any more tilt without adding another pin to the bottom, so I just left it alone. Those old vacuum wipers were cool, I had those on my '55 Chevy and used to tell my wife they were intermittent wipers because, when you accelerated they would stop and when you let up on the gas they went real fast from the vacuum. They were fed from the carburetor on the Chevy.
  6. Looking good Jim as always. These cars made a great looking custom and one of my favorite AMT models. Love your front end.
  7. Hey Thanks Brett! So some one is looking, thanks. I always, appreciate all the help I can get. This is my first solo on workbench, so may not be going about this the right way. Anyway glad to hear from you.
  8. Okay you asked for it! It looks great, love the colors you used, spark plug wires look good, just a little more foil or chrome would help. One thing often over looked on a '55 is the trim piece on front fender and door. Also the piece above side window glass on a Bel Air should be chrome. There you go, looks good in all other respects. Love a nice '55.
  9. Again I lost half of my post, will try again. These nice slicks and over size rims come in the kit. I will probably use them on my next build of this kit, a stock car racer. I get the feeling no one is watching this build any more. Please leave comments good or bad. Is this too boring to you guys? As always, thanks for looking.
  10. Here's another shot with installed in the frame. I decided to use the small air cleaner to show off engine wires more.
  11. Love it!!!!
  12. The shifter makes the whole bike in my opinion. I would love to see red powder coat on the wheels but, that's just me. You really don't need a springer on this one. It look great!!
  13. Awesome, I love it!!!
  14. I work on this little bench purchased from Menards years ago. I usually have my two dogs below to keep me company in my garage.
  15. I like! The wheels are cool and I love the 6 banger. Nice job on the paint too.
  16. It looks good, no apologies necessary!
  17. Thanks Al. for another great tip.
  18. Now I feel like we are talking about another subject. I was at the Mall once when I was around 30 and just noticed a couple of young girls walking by as I heard them say, " What is that old man looking at?" I think that changed me forever!
  19. Thanks Al, that's a big help! The only problem, I just installed mine yesterday without the silver ring, now it will be another challenge. Two steps forward, one step back, that's the way it usually goes. Thanks again.
  20. It looks great!!! Still working on mine. One little detail I noticed on yours is the chrome ring around the tail light, I never noticed this before except on the Fairlane. I've been having problems finding images of a Custom and the only ones I've seen don't have the chrome ring. Do you know how they came originally? I really do like your colors, do you have any pictures of the engine or under carriage? Thanks for sharing.
  21. I like where you are going with this one. I really think they are more interesting when they aren't so shiny sometimes.
  22. Here's another one, a lot of you guys know what I'm talking about. I spend way too much time on details that no one will ever see like spark plug wires with boots on the end that will be hidden under the exhaust manifolds, or coil wire and fuel lines that will be hidden under the huge air cleaner. Come to think of it, no one hardly ever even looks at my models anyway unless I put them on here. Even then sometimes I wonder if anyone in the whole world ever looks at my models judging by the few comments I get before my posts get buried? I ask myself, " Am I that boring? " Answer, probably but, I'm still having fun. What better way to waste my life?
  23. I love this, Best of luck!!!
