61 Impala from the 24 Hour Build Thread!
rmvw guy replied to Terry Sumner's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Coming along nicely! Maybe one more 24 hour period? That is a nice looking engine. Going to look good! -
Thanks, Just checked today and yes they had one for $16 and some change with 40% coupon. I make a visit about once a week with coupon. I look for them to get the Rat Roaster because, last year they had a nice display of Revell kits for the Stacy David contest with the rules advertised. We can only hope.

How about a recipe for the sandwich. I swear I have never seen this stuff before! Are you serious Doc? Do you eat this stuff? I did learn something today it's not scrabble, so no words. Happy 51!

Revell 1957 Ford Custom & Revell 1957 Chevrolet 150 Together
rmvw guy replied to RandyB.'s topic in Model Cars
Wow that's the same Idea I had, posting the two together, you beat me to it. They both look really good together! The two colors are just enough different to be convincing. Two sleeper cars, I love it!!! Mine are going the black and white route. -

Where did the rest of my post go after Smiley? Okay I will try again. This is going as bad as my attempt with BMF. he he he ( no Smiley this time) I went to plan B, the Prismacolor pen for trim after wasting an entire morning with BMF. Bought a second "57 today at Hobby Lobby for $16 and some change and 40% coupon. It will be a race car of some kind. Got the dust speck on hood polished out. Need to get back to work on this one. Thanks for looking. Here's a Smiley for you. -

How many miles do you get out of a clutch?
rmvw guy replied to Modlbldr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It always made the glass packs sound good when I was a teenager. Also shifting down will slow down a vehicle some and if the brakes are bad, well you need a brake shop. I was tough on clutches when I was a teen. My 2000 Beetle has 132,000 miles on the clutch so far. Hate to think of pulling the engine or what ever they do now days. We could change one in a couple of hours back in the old days. -

I'm a Tony fan, after all he is from my State. Loved it when he ran the Indy 500 also, I was there every time. You did a great job on the model. That is a lot of decals! -
I like it! Always was a Roth fan. I really love the graphics and choice of paint colors.

I too, remember some of his posts. R.I.P. Tom. A sad story indeed, he deserved better.

Thanks, had to edit that. I don't even know what a scrapple sandwich is, I just know Doc likes them.
-
Happy Birthday Doctor Cranky, and many more scrapple sandwiches to you. You and Eyegore have a wonderful day full of styrene.

Our local Hobby Lobby has the '50 Olds but, still no '57 Ford Custom. They are doing better getting new releases in the last year like the Meyers "Manx", Revell '49 Merc.,the Double Dragster kit, the Double "T", the '48 Ford, the Willys and some others. Don't you wish we could order them and get the 40% off? Maybe they only order quarterly or something.

Interesting build, I like it a lot. I think what you accomplished in 24 hours is amazing.

I get inspired here several times a day. I think this is my new hobby. It takes up less space.

Thanks Andre, I watched the tutorial on BMF and bet I have played it over and over in my head 100 times. I have followed all of these steps too many times with minimal results. I may succeed in getting one strip on then the next is a disaster as was the case on my '57. Time and time again I have chipped paint jobs or worse. I had one piece on and just saw one little place.......rubbed it and my fingernail just scraped it. The worst part is trying to get this stuff back off. Another problem i have had, there is already a wrinkle in it when I buy it and it just won't rub out. I give up, then it always sucks me back in for one more try. The only use I have found for it is a little piece under the hood for a clamp or strap. BMF is not my friend, I will probably always revert back to silver paint. I usually use a Prismacolor pen from Hobby Lobby. It is easy to apply and forgiving. It can be cleaned off with just a little dab of Gojo hand cleaner on a brush with a paper towel or Q-tip to wipe it off. When I get it just right I clear over it. Anyway that is the end of my rant, sorry.
