  1. powered x-ray glasses
  2. My family was friendly with one of the local Ford dealers, and as a "car kid" I loved to go in and visit with him. Him giving me a promo each time I visited was a bonus as well. He gave me the gold Pinto as well as a Cobra promo on one visit. I have no idea what happened to the Pinto.
  3. My LHS is now charging $14 for Tamiya primer. It's great for some things, but doesn't work well over sanding or filler. I prefer a sandable primer when it's needed, Tamiya when it isn't.
  4. People give HPIGUY guff for using "hardware store paint" on his models, but I was intrigued by some of the metallics he uses. Rustoleum 2x metallic aluminum is amazing, and every bit as amazing as Metalizer IMHO. That is the only I have found so far but want to try the others as well.
  5. I don't see Ed posting on here very often. Best thing is to drop him an email. lowcab36@epix.net
  6. A Rangoon Red R-Code LTD? That's gotta be a one-of-one!
  7. I thought about the 302. I am going to mock up a 67 Comet 390 with a MAD Modeling 6 speed this weekend just for fun. The transmission may be a little large for the tunnel.
  8. I have an unbuilt Perry's Resin S-10 and the rear frame rails are starting to bend upward. I think I can probably straighten them with hot water when I get around to building the kit. I will use epoxy to install the bed as well. Rest of the parts still look OK.
  9. I was at the LHS last night and they were restocked with the Metalizer bottles. I wish they would get more of the rattle cans though. I really don't want to drag out my airbrush to paint an alternator or an exhaust system. I know that Metalizer can be brushed (I have done it) but it just looks better sprayed. I have bought Tamiya paint from ScaleHobbyist before. They had a good price and great service.
  10. Been doing a little prep work on the '57 Ford. Glued together a 2013 Boss 302 engine with school glue for mockup purposes. No go. It's way too wide. The exhaust ports are almost resting on the upper control arms. Plan B now.
  11. The one I saw wasn't that expensive. It probably sold. Glad you got what you need to build your Mavewreck! Edit: This is the one I was talking about and it is still available. I believe the Maverick and Comet rear bumpers are the same. https://www.ebay.com/itm/362881009059?ViewItem=&item=362881009059
  12. I haven't been able to reliably get Metalizers from my LHS for quite a while. I like aluminum plate, magnesium, and stainless steel.
  13. Not trying to answer for TJ, but these are made by Elmer's and apparently come with different style tips. Looks like he has medium tip and a chisel point in the photo. Here's one style: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Painters-Opaque-Fine-Tip-Paint-Markers-5-Piece/16817678?athcpid=16817678&athpgid=athenaItemPage&athcgid=null&athznid=PWVUB&athieid=v0&athstid=CS004&athguid=6e6b4338-6ca-16faaaf6ded8ad&athancid=null&athena=true
  14. Heard on NPR this morning that the Calgary Zoo decided that it was too cold to let the penguins out.
  15. Tupac's BMW is for sale in Vegas for any of you with a morbid streak and a fat bank account. https://www.celebritycars.com/details-1996-bmw-7_series-tupac_shakur_-used-wbagk2324tdh67073.html
  16. I contacted Ken yesterday about buying some parts and received this response: Steve, Sorry as of January 1st I've decided to shutdown Kitchen Table Resins. It was a hard decision but I hope the right one. Ken Too bad, he had some nifty stuff that you can't get anywhere else.
  17. That is one of the directions I am thinking of going. I have a Boss kit that I need to dig out and see how the engine fits. The 57-64 frame is odd, and may not have room for exhaust manifolds / headers for a wide DOHC engine. Thinking of an FE with a 6MT as well.
  18. I have to mention that the car passing the Imperial appears to be a Club Sedan, but other shots on the road and "sailing right out there" are of a Club Victoria (hardtop). They used at least 3 cars in the filming.
  19. Gonna stick my toe in carefully with a version of the Smiler Grogan '57 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Victoria from It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. I just got the kit today and don't have a clear plan yet. It will be repowered, but the new engine will have to have decent power, but get reasonable fuel economy. Won't have the stock wheel covers like the movie car because it will need 4 wheel disc brakes. Stock 14 inch wheels won't fit over decent sized discs.
  20. I am seeing portable concentrators (battery powered) that have 12v car chargers available. Nothing else specifically for car use.
