like adults again

A few years ago (on April 1), my neighbor put sticks in Brussels sprouts and frosted them. His kids thought they were cake pops. One bite told them otherwise. The downside was that the kids are both good eaters and actually liked them.

Those that were only made once
Rodent replied to T-Ray's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't like Plum Crazy so much anymore, but I am going to have to build one of these in that color. Dad was used car shopping in 1973 and my barely teenage brain wanted him to buy the one we found at the Pontiac dealership. "Dad, it's just a 340, it must get better fuel economy than Mom's car (64 Galaxie 390), and manuals get better fuel economy than automatics." Didn't work. He would have been sleeping in the garage if he brought home a purple car. Brown 351W 2 door 70 Galaxie wound up being the choice. -
Mike, if this doesn't work, PM Mr. Geiger or someone else involved with NNL East and ask if there are any leftover shirts in your size.

Edison Diesel-Electric Truck
Rodent replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gas-electric, like a Chevy Volt (or Cadillac ELR). The engine doesn't drive the wheels, it's just a generator. It is an interesting idea outside of the railroad application. -
A number of years ago, we toured this place: https://prestoncastle.org/ It's not too far away and is an amazing building with an amazing history. We didn't feel anything weird, but several of the digital pictures I took contained orbs when I viewed them later. After some time, I looked at the pictures again and the orbs were gone. In 2006 or so, we were house shopping and attended an open house at a home that was built in 1941 that was occupied by the original owners until the lady died there. I don't feel spiritual presence much at all, I think that they know that they can do what they want and I won't call a priest to evict them. However, as soon as we entered the living room, I felt the overwhelming sense that it was Christmas (90 degree day in September when we visited) and there were a group of men in old fashioned suits in the corner of the room fussing with a TV set from the early 50s even though the room was devoid of all furniture at the time we toured. It was a pretty nice house for its day in this town, just under 2000 sf, 3 bedrooms, two baths. Large detached two car garage in the back, with an attached den and fireplace on the side. (Hello, remote office 2020?). Spousal unit was making disparaging comments about the design, calling the house a "bowling alley" which describes many of the 40s and early 50s houses here. They were built on narrow but deep lots, and the joke is that you can set up pins in the main bedroom and roll a bowling ball from the front door. We wound up in the kitchen which was an unfortunate mashup of 40s galley kitchen and early 60s remodel. The original service porch was now part of the kitchen, with a washer, dryer and freezer. Not a place for someone who likes to cook without a serious kitchen remodel. Again, 90 degree September day, and the door to the back yard was open. No breeze whatsoever. After the third or fourth negative comment about the kitchen, the back door slammed closed with a loud enough bang that the hosting realtor came into the kitchen to see what we were doing. We were about 20 feet away from that door when she arrived and she seemed puzzled about how the door slammed so loudly. We are thinking that whatever spirits were there weren't quite through with the house, and they may have embraced me (somewhat) due to the fact that they were of Portuguese descent as I am (44% or so) but not appreciated the comments of my Scandinavian French Irish mutt partner. That was the only in the face spiritual experience I have ever had.

True. I didn't mean to sound like I was bashing Megahobby, I just wanted to let you guys know that at least two vendors have this back in stock in the US.
-
I received emails from both Hobbylinc and Megahobby that they have it back in stock. I thought Megahobby's shipping was a bit unreasonable, so I just ordered 2 cans from Hobbylinc.

Rodent replied to Xingu's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
You get the next issue after you subscribe. If you just subscribed, you will get #222 since #221 went out a while ago. -
Using HTTP solved the issue for me, as you can see by my "like" on your post.

What would YOU like to see as a model
Rodent replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agreed. My friends converted one 170" and lived in it for a year, but all the rest they have done are 144s. They are more maneuverable and they found that the small amount of extra space in the 170 wasn't worth it. They never converted a 170 with the extended rear. -

I realize that it isn't a "kit", but A&N does several versions on "M-S" van in resin. I have held back several times from buying a few. I have friends that build custom Sprinter campers and would like to replicate one for them as a gift. Oh, and the current forum gremlins now don't like imbedded links, so anyone that can repost this like, please do. https://an-modeltrucks.com/shop/german-panel-van-m-s-5-5-ton-normal-full-resin-kit-1-24/ -
Boss 351 Hood Painting
Rodent replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I thought about that myself, but decided that making the decal lie down around the scoops would probably be a nightmare. I bought some matte black striping tape and I am going to give that a shot when I get around to mine. -
More new car deliveries
Rodent replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Google hits seem to suggest that it is the Rouge Complex. Now that I think of it, it can't be San Jose. The original assembly building is still standing and it looks nothing like that. It is a way spread out single level. It is most likely a staged publicity photo with the suits present, but if they had a marshalling yard there, cars from other plants would be present for distribution by truck. -

The old San Jose (Milpitas) Ford plant is now a shopping mall. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Mall_of_the_Bay_Area -
Read for comprehension Michael. Mr. Goldman will be at the Akron show on October 14th with an MPC release from the late 70's and a few other surprises. The AMT 67 or 68 Galaxies won't be the MPC release from the late 70s. Will they be the surprises? We won't know until the weekend. They are surprises. Who knows? Looking forward to the release news no matter what it is. Reissues and surprises are great for the hobby. Even if they aren't your cup of tea or mine, they are someone else's or they wouldn't be re-released. Cheers!

Thanks Ben. I was thinking that would need some bracing. Not sure when I will start this build, but I am following yours for inspiration. The transkit is really nice, but the Tamiya kit's upholstery pattern appears to be wrong for an R model.

They must have had a marshalling yard at the plant. Not all of those cars were built there. Mustangs on the train leaving for other regions and the other cars on the way to West Coast dealers? -
From Wikipedia: What are the noise requirements for EV? The federal safety agency previously passed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141, which requires that all 2020 model year and newer electric and hybrid vehicles under 10,000 pounds be equipped with a pedestrian warning sound. My neighbor's 2020 CR-V sounds like George Jetson's car when she drives by. My other neighbor's older Tesla Model S makes no sound other than the tires on the pavement.
