68 Mustang Twin Turbo Outlaw.... (updates 06/03/15)
1320wayne replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Probably your best work yet. If for no other reason than your first attempt at a turbo race setup and you nailed it. -
Since I've had some extra time at home over the past few weeks I decided to get some lingering projects knocked out. This one has been sitting on the shelf as an unpainted, mocked up body and chassis for more than 8 years. This will be the Bud Faubel "Honker" 65 Dodge AFX car. I am doing this build as a modern nostalgia with my own take on things. So that means that I'm not doing an exact replica of what the car looked like when it ran in 65 or what it would look like if it were built as a restored version of the 65 car. It's going to have a mix of nostalgia and slightly modern. The build will feature a chassis with a torsion bar front suspension (which is what the real car ran) but I chose to kitbash the front end using the front subframe from the AMT 70/71 Duster kit as it is better detail than most others and also has poseable steering. The rear tires and wheels are more modern for this era of car but look good overall, I think. The interior will have a vintage seat with a more modern style dash. The actual restored car was done with a 10 point roll cage even though the original only had a 4 or 6 point cage. I haven't quite decided yet how far I'm going with that. The engine is being built as a kitbashed/parts box Hemi with Parts by Parks Hilborn manifold along with Detail Master aluminum stacks. It will be mated to an automatic 727 transmission. So far the chassis is half complete but fully mocked up to check the stance and I was able to get paint on the body today. I am using decals from PDP. With any luck we'll see how much progress I can make before I start my new job and head back out on the road. Thanks for looking. The restored car

Here are the completed pics. of an assembled, complete unit. I designed this to be a certain width but also gave the builder the option to change the width based on the needs of their build with just a few small minor adjustments. The center section can be narrowed simply by sanding down the outer mounting hubs where the 4-link brackets attach. Of course if you narrow this section then on the final assembly the builder will also have to narrow the cross brace that attached to the 4-link brackets at the bottom. I made these adjustments on my assembled unit to show how it would look.

Larry Dixon Silver Miller Lite Top Fuel
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Yes. I did the blue car using the JWTBM decals along with the black 96 car that mirrors this one. I also have decals to do the blue and white 97-98 car along with piecing together different decals to build the 95 Miller Genuine Draft car, someday. Thanks for the comments. -
Here is one that has been sitting for a long time waiting to be finished. It is strictly an out of the box build using a Revell Top Fuel kit along with a set of decals that were designed to do the 96 black Miller Lite car. By adding a few other decals from my extra parts decals I was able to replicate the silver car from the same year that if I recall was only raced as a one race paint scheme.

The text above clearly states that the two original Foose design kits chosen from the six options will be based on original tooling where the other 4 kits will be reissued kits with added Foose design.

Here are some added pics. of what I am working on. This is still in the rough stages as I just finished the parts that are part of the one-piece mold. I pulled a different center section from the parts box to see how the finished product could look. The main center section is still curing in the two-part mold. There is also a cross brace that will be available to secure the bottoms of the 4-link brackets.

Here are some early pics. of a new item that I am working on. This will be a variation of a Strange Engineering narrowed 4-link rear suspension system. This will all be done in resin. It will incorporate multiple parts combined to assemble into the finished product. It will have the main axle body, center gear section, 4 individual 4-link brackets with separate spacers, two outer hubs, brake calipers and rotors and the 4-link bracket cross brace. No machining here, just good old fashioned hand crafting and cast in resin to make for a more affordable detailed rear suspension unit for drag racing/pro street applications for anyone who may be interested. Hopefully the final piece comes out as nice as I envision it to be. This is close to what I hope to accomplish

For all of those interested, I have a new body that I just finished and is ready for purchase. 41 Willys Pro Mod

Why no beer decals? As long as the verbage on the kit deflects away from children then they have loopholes to run with it. Think back to Revell doing the Earnhardt JR. Budweiser M/C and the Bernstein Budweiser top fuel kit. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Either way it's good news because the aftermarket decal industry will jump all over these new kits.

What was your 1st 1 to car
1320wayne replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My first car was a 75 Charger Daytona. It was a hand-me-down as my dad drove it for a while and then two of my older sisters had a hand in adding some dings and dents to it and then it eventually made it to me once I was allowed to get my license when I turned 17. That's me in the pic. at 17 right after we moved from Mass. to Florida in 1984. It was far from stock as my dad and I swapped in a 440 police interceptor motor in 82. It had the widest 60 series tires that would fit in the back with traction bars and Cragar 5 spokes and dual exhaust. And this is the only pic. that I have left of this car. As an added note, for anyone that is familiar with drag racing, the front end of the truck in the picture was Roger Lindamood's old late 60's ramp truck that he hauled his funny cars in. My dad bought it from him around 1980 and that's what we used to transport our family belongings from Massachusetts to Florida in. I wish I could remember whatever happened to the truck. -
wanted 1968 cuda warfish decals?
1320wayne replied to oldr-n-drt's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If Slixx ever did a sheet for this car then it's a new one on me. Never seen a sheet done from them and I've followed their decal production pretty extensively over the years. But if they remember it then who am I to say otherwise. That sheet that Jason posted was the one I was referring to having seen a few years back. -
Looks good. Nice detail.
-
Well, I hope my wife understands when a case of these comes home with me.

Becky must have thought that you were talking about the Warpath decals that they did because they have never done decals for the Westcott car. I have seen an image of a decal that someone did a few years back for sale on Ebay but I don't remember who the seller was. -

Amazing work. It's nice to see that you are getting close to a finished piece. Don't forget that you still have to scratchbuild the starter so you can fire this thing up when your done! Keep it up! -
Got it. Thanks.
