Matt your entries look great. I love the outdoor photos that you took. Looks very real. Jairus, thanks for extending the deadline. I'm still working on the base and the pylon before I can call this one complete. I should have a finished product by this coming Wednesday.

Today was hobby Saturday. Went to a local show as a spectator and picked up three Monogram Sprint car kits for $25. All opened but sealed inside and complete. Pretty good deal. Then a stop at an Orlando hobby store and picked up the new Chi Town Hustler funny car kit along with three bottles of Alclad colors. Good hobby day.

Wow, it's been over a month since I have updated anything on this. I was finally able to get the body cleared, after finishing a set of camo 4x4 logos for the bed and snagging a Dodge logo for the tailgate. After a couple of weeks to to cure then I can go ahead and rub it out to a mirror shine. I was also able to get the wheels painted, chassis painted and the shocks painted and installed. There is plenty of detail painting to come on the chassis.

Looking good Kenny. Keep an eye on Slixx site as they just announced that they would be doing numerous Wally Booth decals.

Where can I find a 1/25 scale dog?
1320wayne replied to car lover 1996's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
How's this one? I have one left. If you are interested then simply send me a PM with your address and it's yours. -
Any of the 70's era rear engine kits should be a suitable donor for this build. I've never built one but if you search a bit further here in the drag section you will find a build done by John Teresi. You can probably pick his brain as to how he built his.

Excellent work on the chassis. I can't wait to see where you go with this one.

The Monza build was done using an MPC Monza street car kit. The chassis has been back halved using the tubbed section from a Chevelle pro street kit. Everything else was pretty much parts box items and Fred Cady decals.

Brian, what kind of dogs are you looking for? I have a diorama build in that section that shows off some of the dogs that I had collected over the years and I still have a few left unused. I have sheperds, labs, collies, beagles, retrievers, etc. Let me know. -
Here's my Grumpy's Monza. Pay no attention to the incorrect roman numeral. I know it's wrong for this year car. And a shot of my wife with one of her favorite personalities at the track.

What is ur smallest toy car.......

How a bout a 1/87th, primarily scratchbuilt Jungle Jim 70 Camaro funny car. The body came from an old AFX slot car set and the tires and wheels are from a Racing Champions diecast, I believe. The decals and wheelie bars came from Charlie at Protech a number of years ago when he marketed and sold some 87th scale resin drag kits. Everything else is scratchbuilt from brass wire, styrene and small gauge wiring. -
Brian, is there a reason you haven't mentioned his name? I believe you are referring to Andy Kallen, aka, Moose. If so not only was he a great builder (and obviously collector) he was a great ambassador to the hobby. He was a fixture at the GSL contests every year or every other year. His personality and humor kept everyone entertained year after year. I was only fortunate to have met him twice before his passing but just those few meetings was a privilege for me. It was his building style that helped create an award given out at each GSL contest called the Klingon Cruiser award. And yes, Renee has obviously done a fine job at continuing his legacy with her involvement in the hobby. I missed the last contest but the one before that I know she was there because they started up a new award which was something of a spirit award given to each years best showing of being a true ambassador to the hobby and to the show itself. She was the presenter of that award. As far as the collection goes; that is one of the most extensive collections that I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

WIP.....69 Daytona Pro Mod..Updated 10/28/10

The engine is permanently between the framerails now. All of the fuel lines have been added including the lines connecting the engine to the fuel tank. Holddown straps are in, although I am still working on adding some extra detail to them. -
The Most Dangerous Car You've Ever Owned
1320wayne replied to David G.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not really an unsafe vehicle story but all of these other stories reminded me of one more to tell. Back in high school my buddy had a 65 Riviera that had the misfortune of a tree falling on the roof. No worries! We simply cut the roof off and it was good as new. The fun part was living in Massachusetts and driving to school in the wintertime with the two of us wrapped in a comforter to try and stay warm. Especially embarrassing when we got stuck behind the school bus on the way to school with all of the other kids laughing at us. Really bad when we went to leave school at the end of the day and it had been snowing most of the day and we have to shovel out the interior. Those were good times and I wouldn't go back and change a thing. -
Blue Max Plymouth Arrow funny car.......

Great looking paint job and decal work Jim. I have had this one on the list for some time as I have the resin body and the decals as well. Those colors really pop. I was debating about whether or not to use the decals to simply do the all blue version of this car but after seeing how yours looks I think when I do start it I will go with this scheme. -
As modelers we constantly ask for model companies to give us newly tooled kits. Then when they deliver we proceed to tear them apart with criticism. I for one am extremely ecstatic that this kit is now available. I have wanted to build this kit for years but was not willing to shell out the money for a proper resin body to do the side shifted engine location. Now I don't have to worry about it. And if I want to build a vintage version, using this kit , all I have to do is reach into the parts box, pull out the period correct wheels, and maybe a few other small detail changes and I am good to go. Based on what I have seen so far, in pictures, Revell did an outstanding job on this kit. I will most likely build one of each era, to display side by side. And for those interested in the original color, the car was candy apple red. If old photos reflect differently remember, their "old" photos. Any of the Polar Lights kits will provide the neccessary wheels to do the original version. And since those kits came with three sets of wheels you won't be hurting that kit to rob them from.

The Most Dangerous Car You've Ever Owned
1320wayne replied to David G.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had a 72 or 73 Dart. Hard to remember which. It had a slant six. It was gold with a black vinyl top. Not stylish by any means. The best part was that it was given to me by my uncle. The bad part was that the rear end was bad and I was told that the car was driveable but to one day expect the rear end to just lock up on you when you least expect it. I drove that car for a year and a half, with no problems, but always expecting the worst at any time. I also had a 73 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I paid $300 bucks for. It wasn't a daily driver (thank god) but I did get a lot of use out of it two months out of every year as it was used to hunt out of. It had a Walmart spray paint, camo paint job so good that I once lost it in the woods. I guess the best part was being able to drive and spit tobacco juice at the same time through the holes in the floor board. -
To define the term properly means only one thing. If you call yourself a "Pro-builder" that should only mean that your model builds are what you do full time and you get paid for your work, almost like contract work. I know of a few people around the country that do this. It also means that you had better be real good at what you do because the expectations of the buyer should be as close to perfection as possible. The rest of us probably fall under the category of "amateur builder", and are most likely quite happy with that title.

Lots of good things to do and visit between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. If you are looking for something else to do you can always travel Southeast out of Gatlinburg and go up and over the Smokey Mountains and drop down into Cherokee NC (about 35 miles). This is an indian reservation with other things to do as well as a Harrah's casino. Plus, the scenery over the mountains is perfect and I would imagine that it's great in October.

Well, the rear suspension is in place. The tires and wheels have all been decaled and attached and the carbon fiber has been added to the rear of the chassis. I pulled some recent photos of Chip King's car and saw that he was running Hoosiers on the rear so I added Hoosier markings to the rear slicks. -
I've seen pictures of this one before but it's always nice to be reminded of such a cool looking build. Great job on the detailing and the paint work is awesome.
-
Very nice build. The burnout is cool.
-
Nice looking build. Killer stance. I'm a Mopar guy but if I were into Chevys this body style would probably be my favorite as it always looks good as a race car or pro street.
-
Good job Brett. Looks like you did some adjusting to the ride height as well.
-
Stellar build, Aaron, as to be expected from your workbench. I have a huge list of 70's era funny cars to build one day and this one is on the list. Now, seeing yours done gives me the ideas of what needs to be done to the front end.
