  1. Red tail lights that needed to be three different colors plus a chrome frame. Covered them in BMF. Colored them with Sharpies. The white is a paint marker used for white letter tires.
  2. or she'll tick off the wrong guy and wind up on "Cops"
  3. When I was a kid, I was an army brat living in Germany, era of 1969-72. My lifeline to American modeling was Model Car Science Magazine, which was sold in the PX Bookstore, and the AutoWorld catalog. Those orders took 3-6 months via military APO seapost!
  4. Agreed! Most folks who create "wrecks" pretty much just torch models! I can appreciate John's work because he took the time to look at the structure of a car and how it would actually bend in this kind of hit.
  5. That is a cool kit, and I need to build me one! I know I have one tucked away... maybe more since I'm a sucker for $5 kits at shows and these were unloved for years.
  6. Ya know... what bothers me here is the number of people that will come to this forum and eat the free food off the man's table... and then use that table to ridicule him! IF you are in, it's good to support it. If you aren't, it's good to keep your mouth shut on the man's board. Show a minuscule amount of respect!
  7. Very nice work! A few years ago I saw a gorgeous metallic blue 1:1 '34 Ford 4 door sedan street rod. With the suicide rear doors, it really made for a very cool rod. Especially because it was different. Can't wait to see what you do with it. I know I couldn't get all those lines to smooth out!
  8. OOPs! Corrected my post. When I first looked I thought the top one show was a short panel. Now I see it's just the other side of the long panel. Still I need them!
  9. Very cool! Note that there are two different interior panels in the kits. The long sided one was only in the first issue, it was cut down for the half cab. I need one side to finish a model. I will ask if they'll sell me a pair!
  10. Very cool! I have photos of one of those tucked away somewhere as a future project. You beat me to it! Ah procrastination. Great model!
  11. Or I can return the new one to Walmart since it did it's job!
  12. I followed my fool proof method to find my shovel. I went to Walmart and bought a new one. Soon enough, I looked up high in the garage and saw I had hung my old one up on a hook! Guess I have two shovels now!
  13. I can start with a photo I took with my phone, an eBay image, or one from the Acme plate maker. I clean up and crop in a free program called Irfanview, then set it up for printing in Microsoft Word. I may have to do some different size reductions until I get an image that fits into a Model Car Garage photo etched frame. Then I’ll print several copies on 60 lb card stock off my Canon inkjet. Tom, if you can take a clear straight on photo of the plate, email it to me and I’ll be happy to make the plates for you. You can also scan the plate if you have a flat scanner
  14. Rich, it deserves at least a test fit. When I built the Foose pickup, the whole time I was scheming which other bodies would fit over it. What won? I shortened it and stuffed it under a Datsun pickup!
  15. Thanks Steve. I am trying to get it finished. It's been in progress for years and stalled for one thing or another.
  16. Modelhaus! But it was the going out of business last hurrah and we knew up front!
  17. Paul, you cannot please everyone and those who whine the loudest weren’t buying anyway!
  18. When I got back into the hobby about 30 years ago, I'd be at a show, walking around with two huge bags of kits and I'd see the older club members walking around empty handed. I'd ask how they weren't buying like me, and they'd reply, "I have all the kits I need." 30 years later I understand what they meant! I have stopped buying multiples of every new kit. If there's a new kit I'm interested in, I will buy it at a show at a low price, or the Hobby Lobby coupon. But only one copy. Still, I'm a sucker for cheap kits at shows and brought home half a dozen from the Mid-Atlantic NNL two weeks ago. Figure I've bought a dozen models so far this year. I'm not in this as an investment, I'd like to think of myself as a builder. When I did inventory a few years ago and realized I had a dozen of the Revell 50 Ford pickup, no doubt all bought at shows for cheap, only I did that a dozen times. I took the 6 open ones and dumped them into a bin. Those are the ones I'm building things from. I enjoy the freedom that if I screw up a part, there's more in the box. I do have a ton of kits I no longer have an interest in. Some of them are scarce and worth money. I should put them on eBay to get them into the hands of people who would enjoy them. I have been building more lately, and I'm looking forward to retirement in a few years where I hope to spend a lot of my time building models. Soon we will be selling the big house and looking for our forever home. It must have room for hobbies. I don't understand the folks who sell off their model collections when they retire, and move to a small place without room for hobbies. What are they planning on doing? Watching Dr Phil the rest of their lives?
  19. I lost my favorite garden shovel. I have torn apart the shed and the garage. I know the only way to find it is to buy a new one!
  20. Congratulations! It’s a big change! My granddaughter is 17 months old and calls me Pa as she crawls all over me! Nothing like that feeling! And now my daughter is pregnant with twin girls! Life will never be the same! And it’s all good! Enjoy!
  21. The 1930 Ford pickup is mine!
  22. I’ve got projects on my shelf going back to before digital photos! My oldest, a Revell 57 Nomad dates back to 1988
  23. Cool, I’ve never seen one of those!
