  1. About eight years ago my wife and I were suddenly out of work at the same time. I said that was it! Let’s sell the house, put everything in storage, buy a camper and roam the country for a year. Her response? Why would we do that?
  2. Language evolves. I’ve been watching ancient obscure movies on TBS lately and get a kick out of phrases they use that we wouldn’t say today.
  3. Joe Cavorley scratch built that Texaco tanker many years ago. It was a commission build so he did two of them to have one for himself. Wish I had photos.
  4. On that kit.. look at where the interior sides key into the sides of the chassis... they are visible from below on the finished model. You may want to do something there!
  5. Wayne, NJ PD (where NNL East is held) have a couple of those large army trucks (without the turret!). The town has a flooding issue and they use them to rescue people from their homes.
  6. I’m watching! The 69 was my favorite because it was current the one year I was in the states. The Chevy dealer was a block from our house and 11 year old me would hang out there. The salesmen kinda adopted me so I’d get the used showroom banners and such. Sometimes even a ride in a new Chevy!
  7. I just laugh sometimes! My stuff is often outside the mainstream so I’ll see a lot of views but few remarks. I have this mental image of a guy looking quick, thinking, “Nope! Not a Hemi!” And clicking back to the listings.
  8. I just took a look at my Monogram kit.. copyright 1981 in Morton Grove. Made in USA engraved on bottom of body.. I believe this is the last ( if not only) release. So if the tool exists, it probably didn’t go to China. Wonder if Atlantis has it?
  9. That dollar sign thing has bugged me for a long time! It’s like.. you’ve been alive how long and you’ve never seen a price tag? ?
  10. Very cool! Great to see you on this board Marty!
  11. Is this the old Airfix kit? I believe it was sold here as a US company rebox. I got this on on eBay years ago as you see it.
  12. I had been looking for the old Monogram kit for a long time. They were all over $100, more than I wanted to pay. Then the new Revell kit hit the shelves and the bottom fell out of the Monogram kit market.. I bought a mint in box example for $35. So I have both kits, which represent different vehicles anyway.
  13. My first car was a 66 Valiant V100 2 door sedan with a 225 slant six automatic. It was beige (which I hated) with a red interior. Back then the popular color was silver with a red interior ala Ford Granada so I had it painted that way.
  14. No but this board does! ?
  15. Ron, just consider how much of that engine you will be able to see in a van, and how much cost / detail to go to... I’ve done engines in Dodge vans and you can see nothing more than the pan, transmission and exhaust manifold. I did put a slant six in one, but used an old glue bomb engine and didn’t put parts on the top end where it wouldn’t be seen..
  16. There is a lot of history in those old threads. There’s posts from people no longer with us. There are histories of kits that otherwise are just in the heads of knowledgeable people. When they’re gone, it’s gone! While this site still has a huge amount of data, there are sites and websites that have been discontinued and are lost. If and when this site goes off line all this could be lost too. In my stamp collecting hobby there is a podcast discussing this issue within that hobby, and asking for data standards and some kind of permanent repository for all this info before it’s gone!
  17. This pleased me! I got my busted windshield replaced today. Local company came to the house, nice guys did a good job.. Busted Glass No Glass New Glass.. much, much better than new! And I ordered 10 yards of mulch to be delivered on Monday.. don’t know what I’m getting myself into here! ?
  18. The red 61 Plymouth is a reproduction of the car used in the TV show, “Car 54 Where Are You?” Since the show was filmed in black and white, they said the red filmed better than the actual dark green. That car has been on the NYC area show circuit for many years.
