beautiful job!! Agree, you may want to try to blackout the window trim. Have you considered using craft store acrylic paint thinned with windsheild wiper fluid? It goes on very easy, and wipes off very easy as well. I have had success using it on window trim after a clearcoat, but it is a lot easier to apply before the glass is installed. Maybe a thought for your next model. The red really pops!

Great models, fun to see the progression of the lineage. It must be so frustrating to not be able to drive your 1:1, but I am sure it must be a very rare car in Germany. Nice job!! -
Fantastic review, Matt, thanks for simplifying it for us who are camera newbies. It is amazing how adding light and taking away some depth can really make a picture "pop" with detail. Seeing the pictures taken with these setups is like the difference from regular TV to hi-def. Well done!!

Bugatti EB110, Revell, 1/24 ***NEW PHOTOS ADDED***
tmathew1us replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Model Cars
Beautiful work on both, there is a definitive style theme with cars that marks them as early 90s. I feel like the Ferrari F50 has perhaps aged a little better (I didn't like it when it first came out, but it has grown on me, and I think it looks modern even today) Matt, I have the Bugatti model on the shelf, half done, and I have 2 questions 1. What color blue did you use? 2. Did you mask the windows yourself, or did it come with a precut mask? Thanks, Tom -
People, great informative thread! This is such a beautiful car. I have a Coupe Napoleon Testors re-boxed version of the Italeri, and I must say, it has the most detailed instructions I have ever seen. Its an actual booklet. BTW, a very well executed model (currently in a state of multi-year limbo as I work out how to make open louvers on the hood).

Very FUN!! Excellent detail, I love the broken handcuffs!! -
I thought this was a Tamiya kit reboxed by AMT? I was hoping to see this in racecar livery, as first proposed, but it came out great anyway. Awesome job. How many different colors of paint did you use?
-
Beautiful! nice job on the wheels. You have good hood fitment, which can be tricky on this Revell model.
-
Very clean build! This model can be the basis for so many cool mopar recreations and your own interpretations as well. Nice job! Did you add the (correct) slats in the hood scoop?

Let's see your Tamiya Mini Cooper build pictures

Beautiful job, but I don't recognize this car or this kit. Was this a kitbash? -
Cool color, would love to see more pictures. Couple questions - what did you use to mix the paint? - have you sanded any of the Auto Air finishes? I would guess they are very thin. Keep up the good work and the posts!!

Wonderful detail, we can see that a lot of skill and effort went into this. It came out great!!

Very cool, nice weathering, and I really like the detail of the items in the bed.

Excellent job. I am also curious as to the method you used for the seats.

Mat Bacon, No doubt there is a Ferrari obsession at Tamiya (as well there should be, as I imagine the Ferrari license was not cheap to obtain). Tamiya Ferrari kits are some of the best out there (although I don't have a La Ferrari kit). The fit and ease of build of Tamiy kits are the standard of the industry, although I feel Revell has made significant strides over the last few years. I was referring more to variety, as Tamiya seems to have significantly decreased their variety of new kits, not to mention the frustrating tendency of the three Japanese companies to keep putting out their own version of the same car. That being said, I have an overflowing pile of kits to keep me busy. However, I am always eager to add to the pile! -tm

Super excited about the new 918s. I think this will be a bellwether for Tamiya as well - if they skip this one I would think that would indicate they not very interested in the plastic car market anymore. I am getting a 918, and probably the reboxed US version, if/when it comes out. Glad to see Revell is still holding up on the modern car front as well.

Nice job Krisha, impressive productivity. I admire that you have a wide selection of interests. I would love to see your model display cases, they must be overflowing!!

Great Save Pat. I just started this kit as well, typical Tamiya perfect fit so far. For those that may be unfamiliar, this is the Monte Carlo Rally winner that was the last of the Minis. A ridiculous disqualifiation of a Mini that won the race the year before occurred after it was found to have illegal filaments in the lamps (as Pat reference in his post). A French car ended up winning due to that irregularity (surprise surprise). This model of the car won the Monte Carlo rally the next year, getting revenge for the outrage of the disqualification.

curious as to what colors you used. MCW?

Beautiful color combination. These 308s in 1:1 are surprisingly affordable, but Ferrari maintenance is a wallet-drainer. Nice job on this model, don't see too many of these built.

Cool!! Long cars look great with a low stance.

bringing home the bacon, again. great work!!
-
great build!! If retired strippers looked that good, they wouldn't have to retire!!!

Nice color. You build exemplifies the two major issues I had with the one I built - ride height and the gap below the front of the hood. These issues are with the engineering of the kit, not wht your build. Overall, nice job,
