Great pix, thanks to all for posting. Would have liked to see the vendors tables, too.

1979Porsche 935 K3

Absolutely wondering additions to this model. One of the real outliers for a Le Mans winner. Lets just say the Whittingtons and DeLorean were involved in distribution of Pepsi's main competitor lol! -

Glad you are enjoying them. That Camaro was the star of the show, a real fan favorite!! https://photos.app.goo.gl/joaTapMypyFKDTYG8 https://photos.app.goo.gl/o7UBKjfukZUwVhGW6 -
Winners of 24 Hours of Le Mans in Scale

Gentlemen, This thread has been dormant for a while, but I was able to attend the 100th anniversary of the 24 hours of Le Mans. It was a bucket list event, and truly one of the great experiences of my life! I was able to get some excellent access and I have included some pictures of track and the race events. More relevant to this forum, I was also able to visit the museum, which was absolutely incredible! For the 100th anniversary, there was a reunion of several of the previous winners, some of whom took to the track (the Mazda 787 sounded the best, IMO). The museum features the most incredible model car collection I have ever seen, 1/43rd scale of not just the winners, but every car that was entered! An incredible undertaking. I tried to take several photos to do it justice. As well, I have included photos of several winners, with the description plaque prior. Enjoy! https://photos.app.goo.gl/ipRcWTi1Ay1Vvfj38 -
Nice work. Great work bench area. Would love to see your display case if you have one.

Just so everyone can see what a fantastic job Rich did on this kit, here is what it looks like from the box. -
Great collection, and very nice to see the different interpretations of the same car. You never forget your first love...

Nice work, especially on the leather seats and top.

Winners of 24 Hours of Le Mans in Scale

Thanks Gary. Happy to be part of this group of addicts! (Don't ask me about my World Rally Car habit!) As we know, some of these Le Mans winners in 1:24 are easy to come by, some are not, and many are simply not available in this scale. I think its possible to collect every winner in diecast in 1:43rd, but that's just not as much fun! Speaking of which, the 905 Evo is not for beginners, or intermediates, or anyone who wants to retain their sanity. The 936 was pretty straightforward, just converting to the right decals. Actually the livery is very simple, modelers could easily make the decals themselves. Here is the beginning... -

Thanks Helmut. You are correct, this is the Heller kit - the single worst kit I have ever put together. -

Great thread, guys, one of my favorite subjects, I am a huge 24 hours of Le Mans fan. 24 hours of Le Mans Overall Winners in my unbuilt kit stash (by year, from top to bottom) 1931 1966 1967 1968/1969 1990 1991 2018/2019/2020 -
Alan, I agree with your advice and learned by watching others - I bought 4 pairs - one on the bedstand, one on the kitchen table, one on the modeling desk, and one for when I lose one of the pairs. Thanks!

I finally had to admit to myself that I needed reading glasses. I couldn't understand why all my car mags were making their fonts smaller and smaller. At least the Dollar Tree has cheap reading glasses. Got an extra pair for the modeling desk, too, and they do make a big difference. Maybe all this modelling has ruined my eye sight. Or other reasons...?

Great job on relatively unloved 1:1 car. Don't hear much about the 918 anymore, and it don't seem to be mentioned with the Ferrari/Bugatti/McLaren hypercars of today. Those wheels look a lot better than I remember the kits wheels looking when this model first came out. Beautiful job and excellent photography.

My Fisher Collection...a tribute
tmathew1us replied to Rich Chernosky's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Wonderful collection and execution. After hunting for years and paying quite a bit, I did acquire a Porsche 917-30. But now I am quite intimidated by this rare kit of a great subject. I have never built a resin kit Any tips on how to start these resin kits? -

excellent model. Currently working on the 1:20 Tamiya version of this subject. As an aside, sort of drives me crazy as to why the Japanese companies each come out with several kits of the same subject. Would have been nicer if instead of Hasegawa repeating something Tamiya had already done, if they had come up with a unique subject. How many Skyline GT-Rs do we need? -
looking great! I spent a lot for an Iwata, and then got a knock-off generic airbrush from Amazon for about 1/10 of the cost, and I have to say, I am very impressed by the quality of the knockoff. https://www.amazon.com/GotHobby-0-3mm-Gravity-Dual-Action-Airbrush/dp/B005H3FMBW Also, in the future, make sure to do all your masking and and darker color spraying before putting any decals down, even if under a clear coat. Ask me how I know this!!

These cars required a tremendous amount of work and attention to detail. Great job!! This is the kind of undertaking that could easily get bogged down and never completed. Thanks so much for the history, I love reading about how these cars came to be, and their racing and road history. I would suspect if the road car went up for sale now, it would bring a substantial amount over $1 million. Of course, when adjusted for inflation, that car would cost about $1.6 million today. I always wondered why Nissan chose the red and black livery for the R390 over their traditional red white and blue seen on most of their other racing cars.
