Funny how when the F50 came out it was panned as being ugly (F40 was a tough act to follow), but now people seem to be coming around on them.
Great work on the model, the photoetch came out well.
Great job on a holy grail kit. I love these race cars that ended up forcing changes in the rule books! If you've ever driven this car in Gran Turismo, it dominates!
Wal-Mart Colorplace was also my go-to. They used to sell grey primer, but I haven't seen it for quite a while. I have to say the black and white matte coats do well for primer, especially the matte white under gloss white for race cars and such. However, as mentioned these are getting harder to find, especially the matte. I wonder if they grey primer and matte coats are being discontinued for environmental reasons?
I just thought there would have been an announcement by now, as Revell has the license from GM for Corvette, or at least they did for the C7.
Maybe with all the changes at Revell the model is delayed. But I would think Corvette would be one of their most popular sellers for modern American cars, and the mid-engine C8 has generated a lot of excitement.
I would think at least one of the companies would be doing a kit for the latest mid-engine corvette, but does anyone know for sure?
I guess we'll get a look at the racing version this weekend at Daytona.
Great work. I looked at the instructions and it does look very complex. I am glad Tamiya is at least releasing kits of modern cars and Le Mans winners, instead of the endless reissues we are seeing from the American companies.
As stated above, its not a beautiful car, but you did an excellent job!
Wonderful job. Most of the examples I have seen of these Italeri kits have the wheels sticking out way too far. Nice work in correcting that and the stance.
Yes! Procrastination pays off, again!! I have been in several bidding wars for this kit on ebay that I lost, to the point that I was about to contact Tamiya to ask if they would consider re-releasing the kit. I guess I was not the only one, and, as noted above, there is pretty strong demand on the secondary market. I will be ordering both Japanese Le Mans winners that Tamiya is releasing.
Interesting, but I think we would agree that it is not quite up to a styrene kit yet.
I have no doubt that as the technology and accuracy progresses, in 15-20 years we will be downloading kit plans and printing them in our own house.
First of all, beautiful job on the model. I too wondered about whether the luggage was included in the Tamiya kit, which everyone seems to think is one of their best ever.
As far as the camera, 89AKurt is making a joke about Russian dash-camera videos, which typically capture a lot of accidents and dangerous driving, and are popular on YouTube.
Pretty much the same ho-hum stuff. I was expecting a ton of new Revell merch, but our store was all the stuff posted above - nothing that interested me, even for $10. I can see these NASCAR kits going for $5 at a hobby show pretty soon.
I wonder what is going to happen to all the Hobbico stuff - it must be sitting around somewhere,
I think this came out very well, honestly very hard to see the discussed imperfections. The ride height is perfect. A finished model is a finished model.
Alex, looks like old habits die hard. The Italian Horses website was one of the sites that not only got me hooked on modelling, but is still a go-to source for simple effective ideas. We are all thrilled to see you (and your obsessively detailed results) back !!
