  1. Dual breathers on the 12v71 in Pacar trucks ie KW and Pete seems to have been the rule from everyone I've seen. Astros and Titans as well.
  2. Tim'strucks.com is down.
  3. Tires and wheels off amt 1-32 snaps way better than monograms but not many options otherwise
  4. I believe he was being sarcastic but I seem to remember a daycab GMC cracker box pulling a trailer similar to that.
  5. Indeed. Kind of shame as the model of KW is somewhat rare.
  6. Any body notice the KW being wrecked isn't a w900 like the other pics it's the set back axle version (s112) I think there called? it has steel wheels a longer wb and a torsion bar suspension. The 377 in the wreck seen appears to be a 379 short hood or 378 as the left fender isn't 377. It also appears the sideways KW is on some sort of roller pads (Hollywood majic) Certainly a lesser known movie. Interesting.
  7. Builds up real nice considering it's age.
  8. Right one had a vt903 one of the other trucks used had a small cam 350.
  9. Thought so. Come to think of it one of the trucks used in the first smokey and the bandit was rumored to have a 1693ta.
  10. Seem to remember a few but not for sure. I've been told KW never put a Cummins KT in a regular hood w900 though but the company I lease to has one as a yard truck they bought new in 1975 with a KT 450 factory it has a different firewall and a unique frame brace under the bell housing. If a KT Cummins fits I would think a 1693ta Cat would.
  11. Petty much. Standard drum set up.
  12. To clear up the KW vit question KW released the vit interior the diamond tuck one in 1974. The bicential models of 1976 called vit200 were also the first production aerodynes and ironically didn't have the vit interior. They had a red white and blue interior unique to them. The vit package only refers to the diamond tuck interior and can be found in day cabs as well as all size sleepers. Prior to 1974 Kw had an interior option very similar to Peterbilt's classic with square pleats I've only seen it in early (1973?) k 100s with the 108" cab.
  13. Center of steer to center point between tandems like most have said call any truck dealer and ask.
  14. Better looking bumper than the US version. Seem to have a variety of sleeper options according to their websites.
  15. Of course it goes the other way IH and Diamond T used big truck cabs on pick ups.
  16. yes they originals have M A C K on them but what makes them correct is the full triangle shaped brackets as opposed to a simple cabover style bracket. Look closely at issue 1 versus issue 2 and 3 and you can see the difference issue 4 box art is actually issue 1. Also you'll see issue 2 and 3 the mirrors are way to short to be of any use.
  17. The original issue is the only one with correct mirrors subsequent issues have simplified mirrors from the cruiseliner kit.
  18. The Prostar has an un prototypically short wheel base and the Lonestar a somewhat longer than normal wheelbase for an average 1/1 Lonestar but both kits are comparable in build and quality.
  19. There's always been a lack of (we'll call em light trucks) for sure. But a section for pick ups and vans would be nice on the forum.
  20. Goes to show what happened in Buffalo is that new.
  21. I believe Porkys resin has them
  22. The steps are correct but they are modeled after a prototype step that Freightliner never actually put in production. I've only seen one truck with them at a truck show in the early 70s. They are technically correct but not what went in to production. A quick web search of pics should be helpful.
  23. detroit or gm gassers were only factory options anything goes in our model world though.
