Lincoln Futura
Edsel-Dan replied to GLMFAA1's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
I have the J-L Futura in Both Original color & Red, and a Hot Wheels in Original color too!! Thanks for the info on Base color that will make completing the kit I have easier. though getting the paint will not be too easy Unless it is still in the catalog somewhere. If I get it at NAPA I will transfer it into a Jar/bottle as the Heritage Burgandy hardened/dried out in the can!! I can't afford that!!!!! -

But, What will the price be if/when Moebius re-issues it?? If $15.oo or so then Yes a Better deal. If 20.oo-25.oo then.................................. Also, When is the earliest Moebius could have the kit released?? Like above, And what we learned about other Moebius & Galaxie kits, Buy Now when available, not later when Gone and at Collector prices -

For Correct Paint, you will have to include Scale Fish Scales, as that was what was added to the the Paint then for the Pearlescent effect!! Also, it was reported that it looked different to everybody, Some seeing blueish, some more greenish color, others more white or silvery. Supposedly, it was filmed in the Original color for the Movie at first, but all prints had it coming out as Dull or Flat. No gloss. The Special effect of the paint was lost to Film. Many say This is why it was re-painted Red For the film. A Fiberglass copy was used in the Viper episode 'Car of Fire' (Baxley) Also Red, with the Chrome only silver paint!! I am still looking for a copy of that (Actually ALL) episode of VIPER!!! -
Has that Revell Crown Victoria come out yet?
Edsel-Dan replied to English Jules's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I don't know about the Orange County Fire version Butt the original kit "Ohio State patrol" had Clear RED tail lights Not painted clear lenses!! I do wish they would re-issue it with the Vision/Vector 'V' lightbar, but I am guessing that some of the tooling for that was lost/damaged so all subsequent issues had the MX only Even the CHP which Should have had the V bar!!!! TOO many episodes of "COPS" show that!! Also, they Should have included all Clear, or 4 each Clear, Red, Blue & amber so any arrangement of them could have been done. If you looked closely, you could see that 2 of the caps were Blue on the Ohio cruise on the box. But, to be Correct, they should have included a Whelan "Edge" Strobe Lightbar. I have a Book that includes a Pic Of Ohio 1933 (Lindberg's Decal OSP unit # and it had an Edge bar Not the Vision/Vector!! And Yes, it was Red on the Left, Blue on the right!!!) An Ohio resident told me there were No OSP cruisers with the V bar too!! -

1957 CADILLAC ELDORADO BROUGHAM,,quality questions?
Edsel-Dan replied to gtx6970's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have Both kits, The Revell SSP, And Gunze's 1'32 I can tell you that the Gunze kit, while having a 1pc Body, uses the 59 Biarittz Chassis, seats, dash & Steering wheel UNALTERED The Sombrero caps are the same too, but were on the Actual cars!!! (At least in the pic's above) here is one of my Gunze 1/32's: and the second You might even see the 59 Biarittz's Boot cover is Still on the tree too!! -
Since I have 3 of them I can offer one for that purpose!!! Aren't the hubcaps different too though?? Of the 3 I have though, I only have 1 set of the figures Grandma/Aunt (Or Dad), Mom & Little Girl Also, How about the Original Boxes for these 1/32 AMT/Revel 55/56 Annuals?? BARELY large enough for all the parts of the kit!!! I have 2 Chrysler boxes and 1 Ford!! Since they retooled the Ford to Stock the box art is a reprint of the original Just Enlarged for the Long narrow boxes Most kits came in back then!!!

The talk about Old Model Glue Not gluing the 2pc tires together was about the "Delryn" or 'Slippery Engineering Plastic' tires AMT & Revell offered in the 70's. Nothing short of Super Glue or epoxy would hold the together. And even that was Not a guarantee!! The material alone was design to Prevent ANYTHING from adhering to it Note the Generic Name SLIPPERY ENGINEERING Plastic. It was, and Still Is used mainly in Model Railroading. ie Wheel sets & trucks, Couplers, etc!!! The Best way to keep them together is to have the inner & outer rims to be firm enough fit that them being glued together holds the tire halves together!!

The Street Machines issue did not include the stock engine or exhaust. I am wondering if during this run ans the cross over from Lesney ownership to Ertl cause those parts to be Permanently lost!! I wish they would have returned them to the box, as I have 3 67/68's to restore and need the engine & Cross-over exhaust from the Original XR-7 version. I built one of the Countdown series with the original engine & exhaust, and had hoped since it came out so close after that, that the Street Machine issue had them as well. Needless to say I was very disappointed to find I could Not build it stock! The Eliminator & CJ issues needed replacement engines, but, sadly, the original did not come back (Like I said, Likely lost during Lesney to Ertl change over having been removed from the tooling for that issue!! I do have the Eliminator & CJ issues, and my get this one, but am saddened to realize, I will have to forgo fully restoring even One of my 67/68's!!!!

You got a Deal! I only paid $5.oo for my Mercury (Same Red) It was also built, painted. I got an AMT 60 Pontiac Bonneville Convert in the deal!! Wish I had got the day before though. Seller told me she had had several other Built models All equally as Old!!. Oh well I think I paid $4.oo total for the Blue metallic Custom 56 Ford Sunliner. 3.oo for the bagged built car, and another $1.oo for the Hood ornament. I asked if the seller would sell the tote, but no, Bagged parts only!! The Red Mercury is Stock and came with 2 women, I am not sure on the Custom. I have not seen one yet The Buick is also the Stock issue, I know that one was Metallic red when re-issued later in Custom form. I need to find mine to check if it is Blue or red

The 1/32 scale Chrysler is actually a 56 Not a 60!! It was one of the FIRST series of Annuals Offered in 55 then 56 by the Twin Company's AMT/Revell!! Later 56 issues had only the Revell name on them There were more in the series. This Chrysler, Ford Sunliner, Buick Roadmaster 4dr, Mercury Montclair, Lincoln's Continental Mk2, And Cadillac DeVille Convert I have at least 1 of each of them. Many were later re-issued as Customs, Then in Revell's SSP program The Chrysler was left Customized, while the Ford Sunliner was returned to Stock The first one I got was the 56 Mercury Montclair 4dr Pheaton (Hardtop) I later found the Custom version of the Ford Convert . I now have 2 Re-issues and an Original Stock issue of the Ford besides the Custom I found at Carlislie. I have 3 each Annual & SSP Custom re-issue of the Chrysler I think I have 1 Caddy (SSP) maybe2, and only 1 SSP of the Continental I did Finally get a Buick, but I do not know if it is a 55 issue or a 56!! (I got it Hidden in a Parts lot Cheap!!) The Mercury & the Buick are the ONLY 2 in the series to NOT be re-issued by Revell I sure Wish they would though. The Buick, Even a Glue Bomb can draw $50.oo+ in bids on that Evil Auction site!!! I guess the 57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham IS a Odd Choice, But has been re-issued Many times in the past 20+ years. Lastly in a Standard type box and Not as a Limited SSP program!! Yes, I do have one of those too Not sure how I rill replicate the Stainless Steel roof though!!!

History of Revell's Squarebody Pickup kits
Edsel-Dan replied to kalbert's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yes, If it is a Revell 1/25 Chevy Pickup, and Not a Rev labeled Monogram 1/24 scale kit It is The Same kit! Sneaky Pete, Midnight Cowboy (Pete hood & grill still), That 'Hot Rod' mag issue, and more are ALL basically the Very same kit with a few different parts & molded color to differentiate releases The Sneaky Pete had the same Stepside box after all!!!! I Did manage to build an Original 'Pete" kit, but could not manage the Cowboy!!! I believe the cab & interior are Identical between all issues. Except Maybe a few detail parts! No change in upholstery pattern, etc! Clearance lights are molded with the part that fills/covers the sunroof! -
"Holy Grail" Models?
Edsel-Dan replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hard for me to pick. Start with the 61 Annuals that have not been re-issued or Newly tooled. (I AM a 61 Annual Myself) Next, I guess the AMT/SMP 60 Chevy Wagon Jr Trophy, & 3n1 Sport/drag Boat Third, those kits that were Indy Pace cars that I have not found/have not been re-issued/Newly tooled Afterwards, The Fujimi/Aoshima/Hasegawa 1/32 Buses & trucks!! Maybe even some of the Ban Dai Star Trek ships, but, those were ALWAYS HIGH $$$$$$$ -
Revell Ed Roth 57 Bel Air - Suddenly It's 1963!
Edsel-Dan replied to Karl LaFong's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I too like this oldie. I have built at least 4 of this one, 2 Pink Lowrider, a red/white box art box like the box art build with AMT Firestone Supreme tire (Sold some years later) I also built the Nomad, And have a Near mint unbuilt 1969 issue to play with, and one of 56 sedans. And to top that off, I used another 56 sedan, and AMT 55 Nomad roof, and 57 Nomad interior parts to bash together a 56 Nomad. Then Yes, Monogram released their 56 Nomad kit before I finished my kitbash!!!!! I have not uploaded pic's of them to Photobucket yet!! Just did. Here are a couple pic's of my bashed PRE-Monogram Kit 56 Nomad with the sedan I built and started to restore. (This was the Candy Green box art issue!!!) The Nomad is built from a built Original issue 56. I decided too do the bash versus another straight resto! -
'64 Fairlane Wagon Interior
Edsel-Dan replied to impcon's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I will not be easy to convert that Thunderbolt wagon to a Stock 4dr. As for cargo area, Modify the AMT 65 Chevelle or Revelle 66?? Unless you want to try to modify an Older, harder to find AMT 61/62 Buick Special, or Jo-Han 61/62 Olds F85 Cutlass wagon interior!! I was interested in that Fairlane wagon body, till I saw it was a Phantom 2dr. -
I would Love to do a S.W.A.T. version, But the clip I have shows a Metro badge on the nose. Besides, it would take me a year or 2 to save up for one!!!! Also noticed, rear doors are Full width! Any one else remember this Oldie??

The 59 CAddy is a re-issue Last re-issue is going $30.oo++ already This will be third run of the Eldorado Seville (Hardtop) The Convertible (Biarittz) can be had Cheap in any box! I want that Auto Transport Trailer (Which ever that is Hoping for Semi Trailer!) And I Want that Del Rio. Basically a Dressed up 2dr Ranch Wagon I think most of the Custom300 or even Fairlane 500 Trim/Options were offered for it. Though, was it Before, or after buyers were adding it to theirs???!!!!

the insane visible v8.
Edsel-Dan replied to ferrarijoe's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I built a Powered one. I could barely keep it running at the battery pack level without having the plastic pushrods bend and drop down into the oil pan!! I wonder what he used in place of those kit parts!?? And what other parts did he replace?? -

I remember that "Replica Stock' article. He did not show full details of the build, but did show how he altered a Rev VW Vanagon into the Rampside.

I currently have 2 kits 1 black 1 blue and a Promo (also blue) of this model I had a second black kit that I traded a few years ago. I had planed to use an extra kit body to repair the promo, but found it to bee too different in plastic material to be able to do that. The first I bought, the black one, in Pittsburgh 1979-80 I have been trying to build as a Daytona Indy Pace Car. I added a strip of .01x.02 evergreen to the side trim. She is in primer, but I have not gotten any further in Some years!!!! I replaced the kit tires with Lindberg Firestone white-wall inserts from their 53 Ford Vic.

57 Ford, as a 2nd Family Car?
Edsel-Dan replied to 10thumbs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We had 2 as long as I can remember I was born in 61. We had a 49 Ford & a 54 Skyliner (Mom's) In 65 My dad gave the 49 to a family member and bought a Wildcat a couple months later in 70 we sold the 54 then bought a 70 Impala (First 4dr we ever had) Now that I am the only driver, we are down to one!!! But, There were 2 car families back in the mid-late 60's! Neighbors 2 doors down had a 58 Chevy wagon & a 65-66 Fury -
Looks like there could be 5 or 6 total there. I see Multiples of each tree/sprue. Wish I could do that!! No place to work and don't know anyone in the business!!
-
If they re-issue that 67, I hope they still have the Stock Hubcaps No One offers anymore I have the 70's Street Machine issue I started to restore. I am kind of tired of only the 5 spoke Mag's in almost all MoPar kits lately. (Though, AMT did replace those with Ralley's in the 70 Challenger kit Johnny-Lightning re-issue!!)
