As I said earlier, Due to the Trunk lock being In the first 0 5-"0"-0, they Left the Fairlane 500 trunk trim on ALL 59 Galaxies, Not just the Skyliner!! I almost Bought a 4dr Sedan and It had that 'V' trim between the back-up lights with the Fairlane 500 Script and the Trunk lock was under that 0.

History of Revell's 1980-86 Ford Pickups
Edsel-Dan replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I had that LA County Sherriff's Bronco The Lightbar was 2 identical pieces not 1. I would love to find another, or at least the parts from it as I have an AMT "Wild Hoss 79 I want to do as an LA County Sherriff Departments ESD (Emergency Sevices Division) {Paramedic Rescue!!!} piece. -
I have the RoG SSP 50th Anniversary issue and can try to dig it out and check the tires. Back in this thread the pic's I posted, I show a restored Turq/White one with OLD Rev White Stripe US Royal Masters, They are definitely more accurate than the Monogram Wide-white side insert tires that Rev USA put in the Skip's issues. Also Notice that RoG's reprint of the Original 59 Box-art Does state FAIRLANE 500 and Not Galaxie!! Then see that Rev USA Goofed it again and called it a Galaxie I too have to agree about Tom Coolidge. I was looking at buying some of his 59 Buick parts, but he said he no longer made them I got a Box of parts from him FREE!!!! Wish I had the $$ I would order that 59 Ford!!!! I did show I LIKE them!!!!!

I have not heard of the "Allison-Thunderland' being re-issued, But Round2/Auto-World Has re-issued a few of the M-K released kits recently. MPC's GTO "The Judge" Funny car I think was the first to be re-issued After M-K's run. This time in retro-Deluxe MPC box-art. The 78 Ford F-250/350 Firestone Super Stone is the latest. So anything is possible. I too am greatfull for his work. I have a few of the kits he has had run. I am surprised to hear that the Comet did Not sell well originally, as they are Impossible to get now unless you have at least $50.oo for one!! (Sadly I don't!!!)

I like this, and may copy you (Partway) But, You are Not making a Correct Fleetside by keeping the STEPSIDE inner box sides!!! By tooling this Pickup as they did One-piece box/bed), AMT/Ertl made a PHANTOM Cameo.. With the 58 Model year, Chevrolet/GM dropped the Stepside based Cameo and widened the Bed floor calling the Pickup FLEETSIDE. The outside Fender type box sides were Identical to the CAMEO, but were Now Steel Not Fiberglass as in the CAMEO Carrier The Outer wall of the Bed was the Inside surface of the "Fender" To be accurate, you should add a plank to Both outside edges of the floor (And of course Widen the wheel wells)!! Look at this Pic from the "Free Laser Cut Wood Bed" post; http://newoldcar.com/images/Featured_Cars/Chevrolet/C10/301_1966_Chevrolet_C10_Pickup/1966%20chevrolet%20c10%20pickup%20bed.jpg There is NO Straight Vertical bed side there!! Yes, I know, That vertical side Does make reattaching the Fender side Easier, But, the box looks VERY Wrong!!!! By the way, REVELL made the Same Mistake on their 64 "Fleetside" Phantom Cameo!!!!! Taking the CHEAP way out and making a FAKE replica!! I can post pic's of what I have done to both my AMT 60 & Rev 64 to correct those MAJOR mistakes if interested. (I already have in other threads)

Actually, didn't the Original issue of Roscoe's car come only with Red lightbar lenses?? The box art definitely shows only red. They were ALWAYS red & Blue on the TV series!!!! Also, Both Roscoe box-art show the Proto-type 4dr sedan still having the 2dr's tail lights ans rear bumper!!

The Twin axle trailer was First introduced by AMT/SMP in their 60 Chevy Pickup kit!! A similar single axle version was in the 60 F-100. (I have one of the 60 Fords With that trailer Both versions in 60 could be built as either the trailer, Or as a Display platform. I have the Penski set with the Twin axle version too They Did change the tongue to accept a More accurate Tow ball versus the large Pin used in the original releases. I too would Love to see some of these return.

1961 Oldsmobile F85 Station Wagon -now in 'Under Glass'
Edsel-Dan replied to maltsr's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I built one of these myself! Painted mine Silver. And Yes, That is her "Twin" 62 hardtop behind her (Actually Triplet as I have an Original Convertible too now!!!! -
I have a few of these to play with too I also don't care for those Too Modern Strobe beacons in the kit You do know the light rack in the Yodel kits is a copy of the OLD Jo-Han piece??!! I have the LAPD Monaco kit. There is one major difference between the 2. Jo-Han tooled the rack in 1 piece with the Rotator bases as separate parts, while the Yodel kit has the Mounts separate from the bar but the Beacon bases molded in-place on it!!!! I would Love to find SEVERAL of them to use!!! Too bad Yodel has not re-issued them in so long. They go TOO high anymore!!$60.oo-75.oo++ now!!! I paid Less that $12.oo for mine WAY back when!!!!! Did you think about Scratch-Building the correct beacons?? Also, The 4-beam cast to the roof of the Monogram/Revell MACK CF pumper is a good candidate for 1/24-1/25 vehicles. I know, I put one on my JD 310 backhoe

HelJan-Con Cor has re-issued those a couple times I have 2-3 of each!! And Don't forget that Leetown/Alloy Forms offered a few of their Diecast Fire truck body kits with that cab too I have 2 of the Pierce CRV Heavy Rescue body kit, and at least 1 Pumper kit with that cab!!. The only difference in the HelJan issue Global VAn Lines kit It was ALL molded in White while the Original Revell kit was molded in 2 shades of Blue and only the van roof was white! Here is my Rescue partially painted!!

Mid '70s Chevy rescue van Round 2
Edsel-Dan replied to LongRoofNut's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Those 'New' Snow tires look like the "Gates Commandos" included in the original issue of this Rescue van. As well as the 72 Blazer kit from Model King. (And the Original annuals from before!!) I have a few of them, and a GMC Jimmy with them! For Snow tires, I would rather have the MPC Suburbanite's!!They would be closer in size to the Stock tires in the kit. -
I thought that "Mickey Mouse Ear" was the other name for Lollypop lights! Double sided, but NOT cans!! I have heard them called Coffee cans. And other California departments used them too. Not many states east of Cal. did though I too loved that show. I scan still hear that theme music!!! 'The Rookies' did the same with Cruisers. One scene had the Cans on the roof, the next had them on a rack like the pic above they had single element rotators. Cars changed from 72-73 Satellilte, to Mercury, etc

AMT's And Revell's Show cases are Completely Separate from the Old Jo-Han cases. Jo-Han was First to offer them by Several years. The Monogram Mercedes 540 is 1/24 scale while Jo-Hans kit was 1/25. Also The Jo-Han kit had features the Monogram kit did not. More parts, Finer detail, etc.

Jo-Han '75 Oldsmobile Cutlass Snap Kit.
Edsel-Dan replied to W-409's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have one myself. I wish Illinois Model Company had managed to release this one with Rambler wagon & Chrysler Turbine like they promised 2 years ago!! As for the tires, I find Almost ALL Jo-Han tires to be VERY Generic!. No sidewall detail, NO Tread detail!! Yes, You go t 4 Very Concentric white stripe tires, but still....... The tires in both versions of the Turbine ARE nice. "Goodyear Power Cushion", Full Tread detail, AND sidewall!! They are a litle smaller than the Old MPC Power Cushion, And Monogram's, and Lindberg's Newer versions.. The Old MPC had straight grove tread detail like Almost ALL kit/promo tires from the early/mid 60's -
Round 2 wants to know what you want!
Edsel-Dan replied to Blown03SVT's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I too wish they could find Cooter's Tow truck. That 72 Cheyenne was a little better than the Modified GMC Shortbox stepside we have gotten the past 4 issues Since the Cooter's release. As for Boss Hogg's Caddy..................................... Doubtful! It would be nice, But likely won't happen -
Which one?? I have 2 different ones!! Closed Town Car, And open Pheaton

George barris super van!
Edsel-Dan replied to Chris guthro's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is More a toy than kit. Ford, but grill is Decal. I built the "Electronics" Rescue van issue Van sits on a base with mechanical/electronic parts. A motor driven Siren, with contacts to make roof lightbar flash. Engine sounds too. They also issued it as a Police van, and NFL van Not sure if all or only some teams were included. I think their might have been a Soccer Team van and a Pepsi version too Not very detailed at all!! -

George barris super van!
Edsel-Dan replied to Chris guthro's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I believe it is the Second issue. And the one I also built. IMC offered it earlier (mid-late 60's), but this is the one you will find Wonder what happened to the tooling for it. Why it was not re-issued by LIndberg or Testor's -
Nice to know I don't have, Nor have I even Seen Modern Cars from them. Just the Classic's like this Rolls, and My Caddy's!!

I have the Silver built box-art of this Charge It had Mag rims and only 2 Standard(Stock) tires! The rears were 2 slot Cheater Slicks. I have been trying to rebuild her Stock too But, Rather than using MoPar Mag's like in the Rev/Mono kit, I would like to find copies of the Original MPC Hubcaps! Why can't either Revell, or Round2 give us those?? ALL 60's-70's MoPar kits have either the MoPar Mag500 or Rally ONLY the Monogram 70 Road Runner had Steelies, And those were Not correct!!! ALL the MPC annual's had Hubcap Options, but Nothing like that NOW!! Why couldn't they include them in the 70 Coronet Super Bee?? My original issue had them!!

George barris super van!
Edsel-Dan replied to Chris guthro's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I built one WAY back When!!! Are they worth it-- Depends on the price!! They ARE rare!! Chassis is almost Identical to the Little-Red Wagon A-100 Pickup!! Since the actual Custom van was based on the twin Sister A-100 Van!! Would I buy one/them YES If I had the $$. (As long as they were Not TOO Steep in price!!!!)
