Show us your Engines - Post Dedicated to the Engine
topher5150 replied to TheCat's topic in Model Cars
I saw that before, but it was in a late 60s Camaro. Never understood the purpose -
Seen my fair share of those in my rear view mirror. What are you going to do for the plaque on the hood?

I like '57 Fords, but I have yet to build one straight from the box

53-56 F-100 kits
topher5150 replied to topher5150's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
$60 is a little rich for my blood, and I was using $25 from my Christmas money, found some more pics of the "Diamond in the Rough" but it was to stock. I went to the hobby store and found the Monogram Cruising Classic it came with the front suspension, and the engine that I needed. Is there any car hauler trailer kits out there that are reasonably priced? Thanks again -
The VEGA & PINTO Celebration Thread
topher5150 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In Grand Rapids there is a real life one of these driving around...exactly the same (as the custom pic) except in red. I kind of chuckeled when I saw a thread dedicated to celebrating the Pinto and the Vega, but some of these kits look pretty cool. -
I am looking to a 53-56 like th one my dad had, but I remember seeing one kit that came with a trailer and a 1940 Ford. Does anyone know of this kit, how much they are going for??? THanks

I'm a younger guy in my late 20s, and I've gotten into it with some older guys who knew a thing or three about cars. One example, the place I used to work at the maintainence guy had a 2000s Mustang GT with the 4.6 SOHC, and we got into it becuase he thought because he had two cam shafts total that he had a dual over head cam. Another time I was at a car show and a guy had a late 60s Mustang and he was telling me something about putting new struts in, and I tell him Mustangs didn't have struts until late 70s. But my favorite was I would always go to car shows with my dad when I was little, and peopl would tell me nice Mustang, and being the little kid I'd have to correct them "It's a Shelby, not a Mustang"

kind of reminds me of the car they used in the Hot for Teacher video

Nice build, but I'm still trying figure out that carb setup. It looks like four-four barrel carbs, but what's that in the center???

I read 37 Ford Highboy and wasn't sure what I would be looking at, but I likes it. I thought Sherwin Williams only did house paint????

I had built an AMT 68 Shelby when I was about 10-12 years old globby hand paint ya know. Me my dad and my brother who was about 5-6 at the time went to a car show and I entered one of my models, well my brother had to have one in the show too so he took that shelby and entered it and won.

I'm trying to sell a 1960's Japanese tin Mustang police car. I think it's an R/C...it has something in the rear that looks like a wire went into the bumper. People keep asking info about it, and I can't find any manufacturers name, model number or any kind of identifying marks on it.
-
The most I have ever gotten with this car is a "thanks for showing up" ribbon, never asked why. I know the paint is not as perfect as the rest of the models, not as much detail, and the scratch building is ok, but I think it should get a nod. I think it's defiantly unique, and cool in it's concept.
-
Nicely done...I went to a car show and a guy had a similar setup using the Falcon chassis and a fox body front suspension, but he could only fit the SOHC 4.6

Right...they are kids thats why i didnt get too mad. I was more mad at the parents for leaving three kids under the age of ten home alone.
-
So we agreed to have my brother in law and his kids stay over for a week, they went out to get groceries while we were gone and left the kids at home by themselves. Well we get home and the four year old, who has never done anything bad in her life decided that hey those cars up on top of the cabinet look like fun. So now I have to re-piece my 68 Shelby convertible, and some of the big deuce back together.  I'll get some pics of the carnage later.

It looks like the panels they put under semi truck trailers

I think it's an either or option

making your own body/ engine parts
topher5150 posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've been throwing some ideas of a couple of models that I want to build, both based off of the 1/16 AMT/Ertl 1964.5 Mustang instead of buying two of those mustang models, and a cobra model is there an effective way to make the body at home? I've seen people take parts and make molds of the to make duplicates, but I don't think I've seen any one do a large scale body. -
looks like the guys who designed the MR-2, and the Fiero were hired by Ferrari
