If something is turning at 7,000 RPM it's turning at 7,000 RPM, no matter what scale it is. -
Another way to do it is split the tailgate horizontally at the base of the rear window. The upper half of the tailgate (the window part) swings up, the lower half swings down.

John, your outdoor photos always have a clear blue sky. Is it sunny and clear in Van Nuys every day??? -

Those are cool. I like how the rims and the centers are separate... makes painting the centers a contrasting color very easy. -
No, it's not a Buick...

Every minivan has a huge rear hatch like that, they're supported with gas struts. What are the odds of both struts failing at the exact same time? Probably about a million to one or less. I don't think I've ever heard of someone being hurt by a falling hatch. But like you said, this car is purely hypothetical anyway, so practicality doesn't enter into it.

Testors vs lindberg 2006 srt8 chargers
Harry P. replied to cotto's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I understand one company re-issuing another company's retreads, but I really don't see the logic (or what sort of deal was made) by two active, competing companies "sharing" a newly-tooled kit and both selling it under their own respective brands. Who paid for the initial tooling and development? Who paid for the licensing? Who actually is cranking out the plastic? Who is doing the distribution? How are the profits shared? Are Lindberg and Testors owned by the same people? Are they two different brands operating under one corporate umbrella? A million questions. I'd love to hear the actual facts as to how this deal was come to, and why, because on the surface it doesn't seem to make sense. Obviously the deal did make sense to the people involved, otherwise they would never have agreed to it. But I'm curious as to how this came about. BTW... the same thing happened with the recent series of 1/6 scale engines. Some were sold in Hawk boxes, some in Testors boxes... some were sold as kits, some were sold as pre-assembled models. Strange... -

Yeah. But why??? -

If that's the case, then somebody please explain how/why the same kits are being sold by two different companies. What's the story here? What's the connection between Testors and Lindberg? -

I think I'd be more worried about the broken A pillar or the fact that the hood doesn't fit right... -
That's exactly what I was thinking! It could be made a little more "practical" by moving the rear glass back and making it more vertical. The angle of the back glass as is really cuts into the interior room, which is what a station wagon is all about in the first place.

I did tell them that.

A perfect example of Rob's point: The current thread asking where to find the new Hudson kit for the lowest price. I answered that question by doing... yes, a google search! Something the person asking the question could have done perfectly well by himself. That kind of thing is what Rob is talking about.
-
Exactly. I could show a person who has never touched a computer before how to do a google search in about 30 seconds. If you know how to sign up for online forum membership, if you know how to post comments here, then you have all the "computer savvy" you would ever need to do a google search.
-
All good points made so far. But I think Rob's initial point was more about people who ask things like "where can I get an AMT XXXXX kit?" or questions like that. Sure, there are questions that will probably be better answered by posting them here and tapping into all the knowledge available from other members, but many questions can be answered almost immediately with a simple google search. I have answered literally dozens of questions like that for other members here over the years. Sometimes I wonder why the person didn't just do the search himself in the first place? So I do the search, I find the answer, I post it. But come on! At least try doing the search first before you ask us to do it for you.

Very nice! I like the "simple" look without all the over-the-top graphics ("not that there's anything wrong with that," to quote jerry Seinfeld... ) But seriously... very clean, nice sharp foil work. A very nice job overall; well done.

Separated at the factory?
Harry P. replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hudsons aren't made anymore not because they were ugly, but because Hudson/Nash/Kelvinator and who knows what else all got smushed together to form American Motors, and the Hudson and Nash nameplates were dropped in favor of the Rambler name. -
