  1. That looks really great Tulio.
  2. All American Models is no longer in business. It was a resin casting company by Art Anderson.
  3. I'd love to find a good casting of a 1950 Buick. Too bad Modelhaus only makes the grille.
  4. Congratulations on your model wins Clayton, and, the BEST trophy of all...... YOUR NEW SON...!!!
  5. That looks great Ron. I love the "wood" trim.
  6. Aside from learning the names and proper locations of all of the parts on a model, one learns (or at least should learn) patience, good hand/eye coordination, following instructions in the (more or less) proper sequence, and at the end, hopefully a sense of accomplishment, appreciation, and pride for a job well done.
  7. X2 - As long as I get the magazine I don't really care when it shows up. I'm sure that we ALL have much bigger and more pressing things in our lives to worry and fuss about than when a magazine shows up in our mailbox.
  8. This '36 Ford HiBoy was done as a tribute to a dear departed friend who loved cars in "suede". http://images41.fotki.com/v9/photos/9/3018309/12461134/FORDHIBOYFINISHEDFRONT1024x720-vi.jpg http://images45.fotki.com/v153/photos/9/3018309/12461134/6FORDHIBOYFINISHEDSIDE1024x743-vi.jpg http://images107.fotki.com/v780/photos/9/3018309/12461134/6FORDHIBOYFINISHEDREAR1024x763-vi.jpg http://images107.fotki.com/v70/photos/9/3018309/12461134/DHIBOYFINISHEDINTERIOR1024x763-vi.jpg

  10. Congratulations to you and the Mrs.
  11. Hope you have a great day Bob.
  12. Thank you all very much. I had no idea that I was so "loved"... Once I get myself all organized again I'll be starting back in on all my old and new projects. Christopher, sorry but those are the only pictures I took while I was there.
  13. Modelhaus makes a '56 Mercury Montclair as a curbside kit with the grille & bumpers chromed.
  14. John, the '49 is a chopped body from Modelhaus with a lengthened '49 Merc chassis, an interior from an Imex '58 Caddy, and engine and engine room accessories plus wheels and tires from a '59 Caddy... it's a real hodgepodge of parts. The '53 is a diecast kit from Welly in 1/26 scale... close enough for me. I redid the interior in red.
  15. Hello everyone. After attending the NNL East show in Wayne, NJ and helping my buddy Tom Valenta in choosing models for MCM picture coverage, I travelled with him down to his home in Hendersonville, NC and stayed with him for about 6 weeks. Tom and I have been friends for over 20 years since we both lived on Long Island in NY. When I got back home yesterday I had several boxes waiting for me. The Modelhaus order that I was unable to get at the show was shipped to my home. It had the '56 Cadillac, '56 Dodge, and '56 Mercury that I ordered. I also received 3 diecast cars that I scored on EBAY. I got a 1950 Chevy, a 1953 Packard, and a 1957 Cadillac. I was able to get all three cars for about $100 total including shipping. A great score. While at the NNL I picked up a chopped '50 Olds resin body from MAD to use with the '50 Olds Custom kit. These cars along with all of the 1950's cars still in my pile will keep me very busy at my bench for quite some time. While in NC I attended two of Tom's model club meetings. Tom is a member of SCMA (South Carolina Modelers Assoc.) in their Spartanburg, SC chapter. The club now holds their monthly meetings in a new hobby shop.located in Spartanburg which is about a 40 minute drive from Hendersonville, NC. Now what could be better and more inspirational than having a model car hobby shop located in a real, 1:1 Hot Rod Shop...??? The place is Mason's Hot Rods and Hobby Shop located at 1714 New Cut Road in Spartanburg, SC. Chuck Cox is the Hobby Shop Mgr. and can be reached at 864-541-9080, or, you can reach his wife, Doreen Cox at 864-541-9137. They carry a great selection of new and older model kits, spray and jar paints, glues, photo-etched and resin aftermarket stuff. If you don't see what you want, Chuck can get it for you by making a phone call. They will be adding more and more stuff to their stock as time goes on so if you live in the area GO CHECK THEM OUT... you won't be disappointed. While you're at the hobby shop you can check out the 1:1 eye candy in the Hot Rod shop that is being worked on, or the cool cars parked outside that are either finished up or awaiting their turn in the shop. The Hot Rod Shop owner is a great guy named Alan Mason. Check out these pictures of some of the cars that were parked outside... http://images107.fotki.com/v780/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0721024x763-vi.jpg Here's the "Shop Truck".... an Edsel Villager wagon. http://images43.fotki.com/v60/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0651024x763-vi.jpg http://images54.fotki.com/v461/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0641024x763-vi.jpg An old Nash that has obviously seen better days http://images57.fotki.com/v505/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0191024x763-vi.jpg a '53 DeSoto http://images60.fotki.com/v174/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0211024x752-vi.jpg A '59 Ford Skyliner http://images20.fotki.com/v193/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0691024x625-vi.jpg http://images60.fotki.com/v308/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0661024x761-vi.jpg Some other Fords http://images43.fotki.com/v60/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0701024x761-vi.jpg http://images34.fotki.com/v1523/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0681024x763-vi.jpg http://images34.fotki.com/v1606/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0711024x763-vi.jpg http://images40.fotki.com/v1143/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0671024x750-vi.jpg Mustangs http://images54.fotki.com/v77/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0731024x751-vi.jpg And then there are the cars that were in the shop... a '56 Merc http://images42.fotki.com/v1515/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0751024x680-vi.jpg http://images16.fotki.com/v369/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0761024x748-vi.jpg http://images14.fotki.com/v438/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0741024x661-vi.jpg and here's a tired old Deuce in disrepair... http://images20.fotki.com/v193/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0121024x727-vi.jpg http://images55.fotki.com/v268/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0131024x730-vi.jpg http://images108.fotki.com/v1221/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0141024x750-vi.jpg http://images14.fotki.com/v438/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0151024x738-vi.jpg http://images43.fotki.com/v60/photos/9/3018309/13712959/0161024x763-vi.jpg I would think that any modeler would get great inspiration for builds seeing the stuff in and around this shop.

  19. Leaving PA around 10 AM tomorrow and should be at the hotel by around 5 or 6 PM. Really looking forward to seeing everyone and having a few Margaritas with dinner next door.... WooooHoooo... it's almost here. See you all there.
  20. Thanks Tom. Tom V. says Hi y'all.
  21. Hey John...... Since some of us know how strange your head can be...... It should be interesting to see how this turns out...LOL.
  22. Models are packed up...... Registration paperwork filled out...... Fresh batteries in the camera with extras in the fanny pack...... Suitcase partially packed...... Cooler cleaned and ready for the trip...... Just waiting to hit the road on Friday.
  23. I see and understand what you are saying, but, how are you supposed to know, as a judge at a show, if the person entering a model in a contest is the person who actually built that model...... especially if you don't know that person and have never seen the model before.
  24. I tend to agree with John. While several kits have busted my cojones, after putting them aside for a while and coming back to them with a refreshed and renewed attitude, I eventually got them together for very good looking models.
