AMT's '51 Chevy kits have straight 6 engines, and the AMT '41 Plymouth has a straight 6 flathead engine. -

Modelhaus Resin Kits - Need General Build Info
Ramfins59 replied to fseva's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
To date I've built about 6 of the Modelhaus' kits and they have all been a joy to build. They usually require only a minimal amount of cleanup as far as pinholes or flash. Take a lot of care to trim the vacuum formed glass to fit properly. Be sure to give all of the unchromed parts a good soaking and wash with Westleys Bleche White to remove the mold release agent, rinse and let them air dry. Prime and paint using any products that you would normally use on your models. If you have to strip paint from any unchromed parts, use Purple Power to soak the parts for at least 2 days and scrub with an old toothbrush, then rinse under warm water and let them air dry. Use either CA glue or 5 minute epoxy to glue the parts together. You won't be disappointed with anything from Modelhaus. Their products are first rate. -
Very nice Al. Man you are ON FIRE cranking out the models...!!!

Steven, thanks a lot. Yeah I love playing along with these "Show me" threads...... as long as I've got something to show. Frank, no it must be the lighting... and the yellow color on the '58... that is regular chrome BMF...... and a LOT of it .

I'll play... Here are a few Buicks that I've done... '55 Buick - made using a Maisto diecast "Highway Patrol" car. http://images60.fotki.com/v1548/photos/9/3018309/12967523/1955BUICKFINISHED21024x713-vi.jpg '56 Buick - made using an old AMT promo. http://images61.fotki.com/v665/photos/9/3018309/13006617/1956BUICKMODELFINISHED1-vi.jpg '58 Buick - a Modelhaus resin kit. http://images14.fotki.com/v437/photos/9/3018309/12461306/THREEQUARTERFRONT800x596-vi.jpg '59 Buick - made from an old gluebomb. http://images52.fotki.com/v1566/photos/9/3018309/13585676/1959BUICKFINISHED21024x750-vi.jpg and last is a diecast '53 Buick... it is supposedly 1/24 scale but it seems a lot larger to me. http://images60.fotki.com/v367/photos/9/3018309/13384669/CKSKYLARKDIECASTMODEL21024x748-vi.jpg

Here's an IMEX '58 Caddy that I painted with Duplicolor Champagne Gold. A classy color for a classy car. http://images115.fotki.com/v607/photos/9/3018309/12461319/ACELDORADOFINISHEDSIDE1024x757-vi.jpg -
Can't seem to get my motor going...!
Ramfins59 replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm really leaning towards starting work on the resin '56 Mercury from Modelhaus. These are the reference pictures that are kind of turning me on... http://images20.fotki.com/v355/photos/9/3018309/13728725/Montclair2008-vi.jpg http://images60.fotki.com/v778/photos/9/3018309/13728725/Lake_Placid_016-vi.jpg The kit doesn't come with a continental kit or wire wheels, but I can add those pretty easily. It's not a convertible kit either but that's OK. It's the color combination that really caught my attention. Looks like this may be doing the trick for me. -
Can't seem to get my motor going...!
Ramfins59 replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thank you all for your advice and suggestions. I know this type of "slump" hits most of us at one time or another. Jeff, it's cool that you started on those taillights... and thanks very much for that. William, Mark and Tom, yeah I do actually have to clean and straighten up my work area so I'll have a fresh, clean space to mess up all over again. I'm getting some good inspiration from the Google reference pictures I've been saving... I think the tide will be turning very shortly. -

Thanks guys. I know I'll get back into things soon enough. I've been pulling Google reference pictures for the resin cars I got and I'm getting some good inspiration from that. -
Great job Al. You're knocking them out like crazy man.

Since I returned home on Memorial Day weekend from my NNL East trip and my stay in NC, I just can't seem to get my model building motor going... I've got plenty of new stuff to work on - Modelhaus '56 Cadillac kit - " '56 Dodge kit - " '56 Mercury kit - M.A.D.'s chopped '50 Olds body to use with the Revell '50 Olds Custom kit - Moebius' '54 Hudson Club Coupe kit - - along with the '52 & '53 Hudson kits which are already in my stash - Moebius' '56 Chrysler "Tim Flock" kit to use for building a surprise 30th Anniversary NNL East Theme Car for next year's show Plus I've still got loads of other 1950's kits and promos in my TO DO pile... I also picked up some great EBAY scores to fill in the "holes" in my '50's collection - 1950 Chevrolet 1/24 diecast - 1953 Packard 1/26 diecast - 1956 Nash Metropolitan 1/24 diecast - 1957 Cadillac 1/24 diecast - 1957 Plymouth Fury 1/24 diecast Everything is put away where it fits in, all the paints that I stocked up on are in their place, and all of the aftermarket parts I got are in their respective, labeled slots... Now if I could just get my motor going to just sit down and start working on something I'd be much happier. This seems to happen to me at some point every year. I know I'll get the "mojo" back...... maybe I left it in my suitcase......

That's a great looking Plymouth Steven. The colors are perfect on it, and your interior is just awesome.

Another gorgeous model from your workbench Harry. Your woodworking and scratchbuilding skills serve you well. I followed along in your WIP thread and enjoyed it all. Your "practice" on this car will no doubt make your next larger scale build go a lot smoother. Enjoy your summer and we look forward to your "modeling adventures" in the fall.

That's a cool looking Ford Jim.

Suggestions prep resin body for paint.
Ramfins59 replied to om617's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've had nothing but good luck using Westleys Bleche White to clean the mold release agent from resin parts and bodies. DON'T USE SCALECOAT ON MODELHAUS RESIN STUFF...... IT WILL MELT THE RESIN...!!!! -
That is a great looking car Dominik.

Hopes and prayers that all goes well Tom.

Packing, transporting to shows/contests
Ramfins59 replied to Helix's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I'm with Tom Geiger on this one. I pack each model in it's own box with either packing peanuts or wadded paper towels for cushioning and then all of the individual boxes packed in a large box from a Keurig Coffee Maker with a secure handle. The large box holds up to 6 model boxes, mirrored display bases and a plastic bag with "emergency supplies" (CA glue, toothpicks, tweezers and an XActo knife.) -
Guess you won't be going to that B&B again Tom.
-
Great job as usual Al.

Nice job Stephen. I like the custom touches.

Great job Brent, on a very unique vehicle.
