  1. Welcome to our plastic playground Bill. Those are some nice looking models.
  2. I've been thinking the same thing. Isn't it supposed to be the Contest issue?
  3. That's a nice looking Vette Charlie.
  4. Wow Steven, while I don't usually shy away from foiling on these 50's cars, this Pontiac looks like it'll be a real bear to do. You're doing a great job on yours.
  5. I've been thinking about entering. I used to enter them back in the 90's. I got a couple of Honorable Mentions and an 11th Place.
  6. Welcome to our plastic playground Sidney. I am also a transplanted New Yorker (from Long Island) and am also currently building all of the 1950's cars that I can get my hands on.
  7. You did a nice job on this Plymouth Emmanuel.
  8. Nice pictures Todd. Thanks for sharing.
  9. You did an excellent job on this Dodge Jon.
  10. That's a real beauty Jon.
  11. Great pictures Phil, thanks.
  12. That's a gorgeous looking car Alan. It's great fun to restore an old glue bomb.
  13. Those are nice looking Vettes Ron.
  14. That is a beautiful car Harry. As usual you did a great job.
  15. John...... I can't possibly add any words that haven't already been said about the quality and beauty of this model. You continue to blow us all away with your work. Well done sir....!!!
  16. That is a beautiful model Eric. The engine compartment detail is great, and the color is too.
  17. You're right Len. Dave's Hobby's closed some time ago after Dave died. That was another place where new and old kits were stacked up all over the place. Very hard to find anything specific that you were looking for. I worked about a mile or so from there back in the mid 90's.
  18. The closest hobby shop to me when I lived there was Bayshore Hobbies on Sunrise Highway. We (in the LIARS Club) called the place Robber Bob's. One of the owners was a guy named Bob who sat on a stool behind the counter and would not move off of that stool. If you asked any questions about something being in stock or not, or when a new model might be coming in, he could never give you an answer. Car kits were stacked to the ceiling on shelves, and also stacked 5 feet high, three deep on the floor in front of the shelves. You couldn't get to anything and Bob wouldn't budge off that stool to help you. While he had a huge selection of kits, paints, tools, glues, aftermarket stuff and magazines, he was sorely lacking in customer service and people skills. The prices were also quite high... hence the name "Robber Bob's".
  19. Thanks for that heads-up Steven. This car is "down the line" in the TO DO pile so I have some time to worry about those mold lines.
  20. Now that is an interesting color combination... I have one of these cars in my TO DO pile for the "Class of '59". I love how your model is coming along Steven.
  21. Welcome to our plastic playground Chris. I'm a transplanted Long Islander now living in western PA just north of Pittsburgh. It just got too expensive to continue living in West Islip, so we moved in November 2006. If you're looking for a good Model Car Club, try the L.I.A.R.S. Club (Long Island Auto Replica Society) http://www.liarsmodelcarbuilders.com/ I've been a member since 1992 and kept up my membership even after I moved.. They are a great bunch of guys and you'll enjoy it a lot.
  22. Welcome to our plastic playground.
  23. Yes Cato, those colors all look great together. This car will look spectacular when it is completed.
  24. That is a beautiful car Bill, both the real one and the model. I look forward to building my kit that's in the TO DO pile.
